Breakfast was decent, good variety. Location of hotel was good, felt safe.
Room was a 10 minute walk to and from reception. Could use more free shuttles around the hotel at designated places or acknowledge how long of a wait to be picked up from hotel room. No elevator/escalators to rooms. Room was so basic, boring, not well lit. NO PLUGS near bedside area at all! Very inconvenient as someone who uses a medical device to sleep. Also very noisy room. Downstairs neighbors sat on the lawn outside the room staring up into our room. Very busy on weekends with matrix dances and other functions. This hotel is a huge property and chaotic when there are other events going on. Frogs in the pond kept us up all night. Hotel staff was unfriendly, except for the receptionist at breakfast. She was the only warm person we encountered throughout our stay.
An old established hotel that has been upgraded inside the rooms. Great place to stay in Fourways with a feeling of being in the country. We bought a package of DBB for the for four nights and was well worth. Buffet in Chiefs Kraal is really something to enjoy, the food was well prepared and plenty of choice, tasteful.
If I had to make a negative comment, is was the serving of the meal in Chiefs Kraal was a bit disjoined. If guests ahead selected meat to go on the fire, then you have to wait in the queue while the meat was on the fire, there was no access to carvery etc.
Never Never again
Rooms were not cleaned properly and there were quite a few things under the bed - dirty paper serviettes and bizarrely a scoop covered in white powder. The wifi was not working on Thursday night so i could not work or watch a series on my computer. The room i stayed in was far away from reception and the guests in the other rooms were partying and making loud noises until 2am. I felt vulnerable so far from reception and as a single woman staying alone. I will never stay there again and I would not recommend it to other women staying alone. The staff were friendly and I did engage with the manager but he said he could not move me as there were no rooms available. I did ask why they put a single occupancy woman travelling alone in a unit far from reception, surrounded by conference attendees who were clearly enjoying a lot of drinking, and without any visible security, and he could not answer. There were old plates in the outdoor corridor that looked like they had been there for a while. There is no electric fencing around the perimeter of the hotel - which has a large frontage onto WInnie Mandela drive (William Nicol).
The staff was all very friendly and the food was plentiful and tasty. The man who cooks the meat is wonderful! The dining staff were all particularly lovely and the ability to try several different game meats is neat.
This hotel was NOTHING like what we thought we were booking. The room looked nothing like the photos, it was dull and dingy and the carpet seems to have not been vacuumed since the 1990s. From the photos we expected something truly lovely. There were bugs and spiders in the room and spiderwebs in several corners. The vents in the bathroom were filthy and the auto fan was incredibly loud and knocky. There were no washcloths. The a/c took forever to get working and was not very cold. There was no shampoo or conditioner instead they left you a "hair bar" like soap which is nothing like what is needed at all and leaves your hair very dry but they say it's to be more green, which I can get behind, but the first morning they took and replaced all the towels and all the soaps! There's no point in being green if you're going to do laundry daily and replace perfectly good soaps daily. (Typically you leave towels on the floor when they're ready to be replaced, we left ours hanging to indicate they were not, this was ignored and they were replaced anyway). Speaking of laundry, that was a hassle. It says laundry available but the website doesn't say not on the weekends, but that was part of why I picked this hotel knowing I would need some laundry done before the next part of our trip. I was able to get it done with difficulty. It also says tv but that's not true, there's less than ten local channels with nothing for kids which was the entire point of my child being able to watch a movie in the evenings, and all the channels are terrible quality with pure snow. Nothing for kids anyway not even a nature show no way to connect your Netflix or anything either. I had a very disappointed child. This was the most expensive hotel we booked during our stay in South Africa and by far the least value. Everything online says luxury and we were really looking forward to it but we did not have that experience at all.
Good Food,Nice showersbig bed and

Everything
I booked for 1 person and I found 2 double beds meaning I paid for 2;instead ofb1
Friendly staff, comfortable room and not too noisy.
Safe needs to work consistently.
Overall good, comfortable beds, but the safe had issues -made me uncomfortable, kettle smelled bad
Super clean, cosy
Absolutely not the hotels fault...but we had 2 nights of noise. Good grief, the first night someone sounded like she was being murdered. It was quite scary. There was also a matric farewell on saturday night, the kids were quite rowdy...but seemed to settle down at midnight.
Clean and neat. Excellent breakfast.
Just a long hike from main hotel to room.
The property is not kept to standard in terms of cleanness
The noise from outside the room was unbearable couldn't sleep at all. I am not sure if it's the aircon or cooler but it was terrible (Room 418) I regretted the stay.
Unfortunately, I had a bad experience at this hotel. I ended up checking out early and losing my remaining nights. I stayed only one night because the overall vibe was not nice. The Wi-Fi and mobile network were very poor, and the gym was disappointing — there were no proper machines available. The room was extremely dark, and the lighting throughout the hotel was bad, making it hard to feel comfortable. Many basic items were missing from the room, like slippers, extra towels, and tissues. Also, the bar and water amenities were lacking. On a positive note, the staff were good and friendly, but unfortunately, that was not enough to make up for the overall experience.
The staff were incredible, welcoming and friendly. The spa was the highlight of our stay and the breakfast selection was good too.
The aircon in our room was very noisy throughout the night. There was also a sound of a generator or motor running on and off throughout the night. This made our sleep very uncomfortable. Breakfast at the hotel was good but the service was not that greatWe needed to ask for cutlery and napkins on our table. And had to hint wait staff down to order hot beverages.
Maybe add saucers or bowls other than that we had everything we needed. Also, we couldn't switch off some of the lights, couldn't find the switch.
Everything was perfect just didn't like that our bedding wasn't changed, it was actually turned over. We know this because there was a stain from the rose petals.
Passable
I ordered food, the person took down the wrong room number, food never came and staff said they cashed up ND was nothing they could do
Breakfast was excellent! Thabang at the omlette station was so pleasant and made sure that we had chicken sausages as we do not eat pork and beef.
There were no vegetarian sausages on the menu.
