Lovely surroundings and great location to explore the Cape peninsula
Parking sometimes difficult as part of the property is rented office space so day parking more difficult than after hours. We also thought the mix of modern art, fittings did not work so well with the historic building and location.
Incredible breakfast, great room size, amazing staff.
The pillows were too soft.
Breakfast was excellent, great choice, excellent quality. The pool area was lovely - comfortable, clean with helpful service on hand at all times. Facilities and comfort level of our room and at the hotel in general was first class and the well trained, helpful and professional staff throughout were a highlight
The only downside was that we asked the hotel to arrange drivers for us for various trips which they did no problem however the quality of that transport was not up to the same standard as everything else.
Loved our stay here. Incredibly spacious and comfortable rooms and the biggest bed we’ve seen in a hotel. Lovely pool area and good choice of restaurants within the restaurant. 10/10
Breakfast was very good people were nice room was large clean and great value for money the spa was good too I throughly recommend this hotel
All good apart from you could here traffic road noise when out side
beautiful spot, nice pool. Staff is very friendly
really too expensive for what it is. Wifi wasnt working most of the time, staff was very slow and disorganized (very sweet and lovely though). Across the days I was there their printing and invoicing system was out, dirty towel which was on the bathroom floor was placed back on the rack. All in all it's a nice place but to pay EUR 500 a night is really not where this place should be. We're in south africa things are always a bit chaotic that's why we love it but you cant compare it to other places where you pay 500 bucks a night. My price indication would be somewhere halfway that
This is an outstanding property. Breakfast, and indeed all the food outlets, are excellent and the service standards are outstanding. The SPA is highly recommended. This is a must stay to add to your list.
Access to the pool area.
Comfortable bed and spacious room.Good spa treatment - massage therapist was great.
Service is very slow with little staffing by the pool which meant sunbeds were untidy, pool towels were not refreshed. Disappointing breakfast quality. Water pressure in the bathroom was inconsistent.
The grounds are very nice - beautiful flowers and pool area. The rooms are nice and spacious. I liked the style, large bathrooms and rooms!
It shares space with others and open to public so when you go get breakfast there are many people, and also same by the pool and restaurants. Pool was also always full not only with guests so can be hard to find a spot to sit. It didn’t feel like a boutique hotel experience given this. It was always a long wait time for breakfast and so busy. The room was facing the carpark which was not nice and not worth the money. Especially when we had friends staying at “The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel” and when we visited it seemed WAY more cosy and better 5 star hotel overall, even though it cosy more at the Alphen. We organised a tour through the hotel which was the worst tour ever. They should not have been able to recommend and charge those prices for that. One lady from the reception was really helpful and tried to make our experience better. She was very lovely and same with another girl who worked nights who helped us when we were sick. She tried to make us comfortable and happy. But another girl who was very awkward all the time sitting there (also answering the phone when you talk to her) told us when we asked her to book for lunch at their sister restaurant that “we would never let the driver take you somewhere bad for lunch and of course we don’t recommend bad tours at a 5 star hotel”. After we followed up a few times to see if she even tried to book it which she didn’t. She was really unhelpful, quite rude and patronising.I mentioned this the morning after (before the tour) to the nice lady at reception and she automatically tried sort a nice lunch for us somewhere and could at the restaurant we wished for earlier. Also we got food poisoning during our stay too which we could only link back to the pool restaurant when we ordered some chicken wraps (only thing that afternoon/evening we both ate the same of). After less that 24 hours we were feeling ok again but not the best way to spend your honeymoon.
All the staff were happy & very attentive which made all the difference. The bedrooms were very tasteful in design, large, with gorgeous views of the garden. Christmas gifts were a nice touch left in our room. The pool was quiet & well staffed. The food was good. We loved our stay.
Old wine farm Charme. Lush gardens, quiet surrounds, expensive rooms. Ambience and food in all restaurants is magnificent. We were happy to find a walking trail just outside the hotel property. Ideal for a short pre-breakfast run or walk.
Nothing to complain about.
What a treat. From the moment I arrived to the moment I checked out I was treated like a queen. No matter what I requested it was provided - no hesitation. The staff were welcoming and professional in every aspect. The room and bathroom were spacious and just so perfectly decorated - it has even given me ideas to redecorate my home. The food was delicious and the service again was just exceptional. I noted that I had a fish allergy and this was actually taken note of. Thank you.
Personally, I am not a fan of the fragranced sticks and air purifiers - but I understand the necessity of them. In future I will request that tit be taken out of the room before I arrive and returned when I leave.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and really feels like a special stay - the bedroom was huge with a gorgeous bathroom and all the required amenities, the communal hotel areas were stylish and the gardens and pool well maintained.
We had a couple of issues with using the facilities but hotel staff were really helpful in resolving them.
It's a lovely small hotel. Rooms are very large, 2 restaurants and a bar, all serving really good food and drinks. It's extremely popular so the restaurants are always busy. Again, the room was spacious. Bathroom was very quaint and also a good size. I had a private garden, especially lovely when the weather is warm. The staff especially at the reception were exceptional - extremely polite and helpful. I am not sure who I spoke to for my initial reservation but there was an error and Booking.com cancelled my booking, when I called to rebook, they were fully booked however the person at the reception was beyond helpful recommending alternative hotels which she didn't have to do.
In the bistro not all the waiting staff were as attentive but in the scheme of things this is not a big deal. All in all there was absolutely nothing not to like - it was a great hotel.
Clean, quiet, effiecient
Very individual hotel, very well maintained, attentive and helpful staff, set in perfect surroundings.
Wi-Fi not great at times
The welcoming staff was super amazing, going they offered to take our luggage to the room and also offered to remove the airport cling wrap from our bags while we were having dinner at Blanko, the restaurant was so beautiful and the and our waiter Mr G was on point and the dishes he recommended for us were to die for, finally we got to the beautiful room, so stylish, clean and very spacious with breathtaking views... We woke up early to go for greenbelt trail, came back and enjoyed our breakfast at La belle which was so delicious, filling and plenty of options to choose from. we enjoyed a friends party at incognito on Saturday night and finished of with the massage at the Marly on Sunday, not forgetting to mention our house keeper Unathi, she was also so amazing.
i loved everything about the place, cant wait to take my kids there soon
