SHG Hotel Bologna

Good room size, excellent restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Close to A1 highway and good for stopover..

Room was hot, with no temperature control available. We ended up opening the window. We had to pay the room at the check-in. Giving personal identification documents and paying upfront bothers me. It is a sign of mistrust.

I'm extremely satisfied with this hotel, particularly its location near the Unipol Arena. The breakfast options are plentiful and the staff are incredibly friendly and approachable. The hotel's close proximity to the train station is also a significant advantage, allowing for easy travel. What's more, I felt perfectly safe walking back from the arena alone at night.

The 3rd bed was squeeshed on a door, and the way from the garage to the hotel was the back room with dirty laundry and boxes on the ground. Something to improve.

Honestly, not much. The location was fine for a quick stop, but that’s about it.

The bed was extremely old and worn out, with the sides higher and the middle completely sunken, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. The pillows were terrible, after a few seconds your head starts hurting, and we barely slept the entire night.The hotel is clearly very old, and the photos on Booking are misleading, making everything look newer and better maintained than it actually is. We stayed here to rest during a road trip and got no rest at all, which was very frustrating since I had to drive again the next day.

Stay here a few times a year when driving through and love the convenience. Staff are friendly. The rooms are comfortable.

Very close to the venue we came to see a concert in, with excellent transportation options, or an half an hour walk, with several lovely local restaurants arround. lovely staff and great breakfast

Location is perfect for events at Unipol Arena, they have organized transport to arena and back for additional couple of euros and that was super convenient! :)) also, staff is super nice and friendly. Cleanliness of the room is at the highest level.

I chose this hotel as it was close to the hotel and the arena that I was playing at as I had an early morning flight.

This room was nowhere near worth what I paid. It is listed as a 4-star hotel but clearly has not been updated in years. The saving grace is that the room was clean and had everything I needed in it. I felt the reception staff could've been warmer. The man who worked in the bar and gave me some milk for my tea was really kind.

Great hotel, beautiful room. The staff is incredibly friendly. They even let me go back to my room to rest for an hour after I checked out at 10am.A small supermarket is 2 mn walk.

Good reception, good parking for a large vehicle, clean and tidy, and close to the motorway

All was excellent

The hotel room was nice and clean, and there were outlets next to the beds to charge your phone. There was plenty of space to put our stuff, including bags and shoes. Also, the beds were clean and super comfortable. There's a supermarket next to it, which was very convenient, and in addition, from the hotel to Gran Reno (shopping mall)/ Unipol Arena is a 30-minute walk

The light would take a while to turn on, and sometimes it would keep flashing for a bit. Additionally, at one point, the water from the bathroom sink was coming out yellow, but then it stopped after about a minute. The staff also didn't speak much English, but they were helpful. The taxi situation was a bit tricky for us. It is best if you book it directly from the hotel (ask reception), and to go back to the hotel, there should be a designated Taxi waiting area, and just wait there. Taxis are also calculated by the distance, and prefer if you pay cash

Good location, good room size, very clean

Pillows were very uncomfortable, air con barely worked which meant the room got sweltering hot. Breakfast was not great

Hotel is really old, the carpet is in there for sure since it was built, and the smell was really strange.

It's not a new hotel, but it's still nice and clean. The room was spacious enough with a comfortable bed and bathroom. What makes this place so nice are the people who work there - always smiling, polite, helpful... everyone - people at the reception, restaurant, cleaning ladies.Other advantages: close to the Unipol Arena (30 minutes of walk or 2 train stops or a few bus stops), easy to reach from Bologna by train and bus, free parking place, easy to get to the road network around Bologna, close to the local shop, good wifi signal.Breakfast was satisfactory - we usually eat a bit more than Mediterranean breakfast, so we appreciated that we could get bacon, eggs, yoghurt. It was nice that we could get the freshly brewed coffee to the breakfast (much better than the one from the machine).

It's not a problem (because of the shop nearby) but nowadays in most hotels we visit, the drinking water in the room (like one bottle per person or empty bottles to refill for free) is rather standard. It would be nice to have it.

A very good hotel, very classic stylish, almost British. I liked the room and the public spaces. Nice old pictures. stylish retro furniture, also in the room, but in fantastic fashion.
