    Pros +

    • The service and hospitality were 5*. The spa was beautiful ? unfortunately bathing suits were required and it was not a true European style spa so it was not enjoyable to use.
    • I loved the rooms. Very spacious and beds are super comfortable. Bathroom is very nice too. Some of them have baths and some only showers so check ahead if you have a preference.
    • Nice old building, nice people, but way too expensive for what was (and was not) provided (see below under 'What didn't you like".

    Cons -

    • The room and hotel were very stuffy - they have a central air system designed to be energy efficient, which I applaud, but instead of bringing in fresh air it seemed to recirculate heat. The only way to cool off the room was to open the balcony door.
    • The hotel had no air conditioning. None. It was a very hot week, with daytime temperatures of 32-34 Celsius. The portable ac unit they brought in helped a bit, but it was VERY hot and hard to sleep. There were many guests complaining about this. There was nothing on the hotel's web site that said the hotel was not air conditioned. For what I expected to be 'the best hotel in Bern' I expected this minimal comfort. Staff claimed the hotel was an historic building and could not be modified. But no one wants 1890s accommodations at 2025 prices.
    • Nothing I can think of.

This hotel is expensive, but delivers the goods. So if you are willing to pay for it you will not be disappointed. Very happy I stayed here. Every aspect of this hotel is perfect... rooms, staff, restaurant, breakfast, spa, etc.

    Nothing I can think of.

The staff was especially friendly. The bathroom was a great size, with good lighting and nice interior finishes. The spa was also lovely, and we appreciated being able to use it after check-out

    Not really

The location of the hotel was great. The staff who checked us in were professional and personable and very fun to talk with. The breakfast was delicious. Our room was comfortable and had a great view.

The room was a little dated and the towels were not up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel

Excellent location close to the railway station and the university, quiet room at the highest floor with nice view to the mountines.

It was somewhat cold in my room, but I was too busy with my work to take care about this.

Rooms were small, but nice and modern. Well prepared for children. Breakfast was very good

It was impossible to book a table for dinner when we arrived (at 5pm). The restaurant was fully booked already and even at the bar there was no space. The reception staff was super unhelpful and couldn't (or didn't want) to propose an alternative restaurant nearby either. This was extremely annoying as it's simply not acceptable for a hotel of this category not to offer even a dinner for a family traveling with small children. When we later took a drink at the bar, also the bar staff was very unattentive. We stood up twice to walk up to them to place orders.Lastly, the hotel is not in a great area of town and there were demonstrations nearby. So, finding a restaurant outside of the hotel wasn't a great experience either.

Phenomenal stay!! Absolutely wonderful staff who are attentive, knowledgeable, and meticulous with every detail, and a deluxe suite with every amenity to make your stay a delight. Could’ve stayed in residency there, we were only too sad to leave. Looking forward to staying again every time in Bern!!

Proximity to train station. Nice facility. Enjoyed the pool/steam room/sauna.

Had a little issue with dinner in the lobby. Had sushi which was good but had to wait more than a half hour to get our check. Also - included breakfast very pricey.

Wonderful location with a 3 minute walk to the banhofplatz and easy walking and tram access to tourist sites

A relatively minor matter, but the room lighting controls were hard to operate
