Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz

The location

Unfortunately, the room in which I was in was not sound proof and I could hear everything from the neighbors: snoring and talking which disturbed me a lot and I couldn’t sleep at all. The breakfast for which I paid additional 22 chf (!) definitely not worth it.

The beds were very comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. The breakfast is one of the best breakfast I’ve had in a hotel. Having free laundry on site was a definite plus! I would definitely come back again if in Bern.

There’s nothing I didn’t like.

Very simple and expensive for what it is. But this seems to be the norm for Bern.

Excellent location in the center of Bern. Loved the welcome drink concept - pour/mix your own, with light snacks offered for free. Clean, friendly staff, great breakfast buffet.

The room was very small with no closets, only a very small rack in the corner to hang a few items. At least there was a desk and a stand for one suitcase.

The staff member that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel was in an excellent location, we were able to walk everywhere.

Room a little small

This hotel was ideally situated in the heart of Bern, near the Bundesplatz and a short walk from the train station. Bern was a fascinating city to explore, and everything was nearby.

I felt like I got less value for my money at this hotel than at other hotels in Switzerland, especially with a price that would normally have included breakfast at other hotels I stayed in during my trip. The air conditioner in the room was temperamental, and would not always stay on. On the side of the bed nearest to the middle of the room, there were no plugs for electronics, requiring guests to stay on the far side of the bed near the window if they need to plug in items during the night.

The room size was small but the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was good overall and the scrambled eggs were excellent. The very personable staff were quite helpful. The hotel is walkable from the train station (even with a larger roller bag). Cleanliness is outstanding. All staff were cheerful and helpful.

Other than two little chairs at the entrance plus the breakfast area, there is no public lounge area.

Delightful staff, friendly and helpful. Excellent location for city sightseeing. Lovely hotel. Enjoyed the access to nice coffee in the bar/library area. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back here.

Very comfortable hotel within walking distance of the main railway station in Bern, but also very close to old town part of the city, so you can walk out more or less straight into the Bundesplatz square with its fountains and impressive buildings. There is a free welcome drink in the afternoon. Great staff.

Buffet breakfast, if you opt for it, is good but not exceptional, especially the coffee. It would be nice if the rooms had a fridge. There is a kind of substitute for a mini-bar where you can pick up drinks from a fridge at reception and add them to your tab, but the drinks choice was not great: for example the only beer was an indifferent lager.

They claim they have a parking, but in reality it's a public parking in 0.5 km distance

Great central location near the train

Sounded like a fog horn in the walls, apparently the air conditioner, made it hard to sleep.Bathroom hand soap was difficult, required squeezing a bottle.

Besides the raging concert in the square next door into the very early morning this place was great. But not warning us of what was going to disturb our sleep until 4am was not great.
