About

Hotel & Bistro Pêle-Mêle enjoys a central location in Bern, a 5-minute walk from the Old Town and 656 feet from the well-known Bear Pit. This family-run hotel offers individually decorated rooms and its own restaurant. All rooms come with free Wi-Fi and a TV, and most also feature private shower facilities. Some have shared-use bathroom facilities. A breakfast buffet is available on site. You can also sample homemade sweets at the Landhaus and during summer, a terrace awaits you. The hotel offers views of the Aare River. A grocery store and the nearest tram stop are all a 1 to 2-minute walk away. As it is an older building it doesn't have a elevator and the stairs are quite narrow. There is no air conditioning in the building.

    The location is good.

When I left the property made me pay CHF 5.30 extra for the city tax although my booking confirmation stated all charges and taxes included. The room really smelled like food. There is no lift and only very narrow stairs and nobody really was eager to help with the luggage. All in all. I did not feel very welcome.

The breakfast was delicious, especially the croissant ?, very tasty.

Some of the places were not clean. For example, There are two bedside lamps hanging from the ceiling on both sides of the bed. There are lots of dusts on the ? light bulbs. I put a tea cup on the nightstand, but the dusts dropped into it.

Right alongside the beautiful Aare River, the hotel oozes old-world charm. All the staff were welcoming and helpful, breakfast in the dining room was delicious. A perfect introduction to Bern.

    It’s a shame we couldn’t stay longer…

Everything was fantastic. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was shared but I found it free whenever I needed to use it. The breakfast was very tasty and there was a communal Nespresso machine in the lounge. The location is exceptional.

I loved the location! It’s in the Old City - Central to all touristy spots and Aare river scenes! We booked the bigger room so it was nice and comfy! The staff was friendly as well.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was wide, clean and carefully decorated. Delicious cheese and croissants for breakfast. Very good location, next to the old town

Great location, nice room. Staff was really friendly and helpful, they even carried our luggage upstairs for us. Delicious breakfast, they even had a gluten free muesli option.

I had such a lovely stay at this hotel! The room and lounge were both beautiful and spotlessly clean. During breakfast, the front desk staff noticed that my coffee cup was empty and kindly offered to make me another one such a thoughtful and attentive gesture. I truly appreciated the warm hospitality and small touches that made my stay special. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Bern!

Very nice old building in the city center just a couple of steps away from the old town. Right at the aare you have a beautiful surrounding. The breakfast was very good and the hosts lovely.

could not have been better - you just have to know the building is old (but well maintained) and you hear the stairs/people getting in and out of the house. If you are a very noise-sensitive person this could bother you.

The owners were great, accommodating our every need for our infant and 3 yr old. Look forward to returning.

    Charming design features and location.

Fantastic location across from the beautiful Aare River and across a bridge to Old Town Bern.

An amazing hotel with friendliest receptionists, vintage furniture, and unique design all around the place :)

It was a charming, cozy, welcoming place. Breakfast was excellent. Tea room on the first floor was a nice touch. The staff was welcoming and accommodating.

Some rooms and bathrooms are quite small, with little space to store luggage/belongings.It was a steep walk up to the main streets, though bus stop is nearby.

    8AlbrechtPosted on: 5-24-2025

The hotel was super cute. Just across and over the bridge from the old town. Minutes away by bus from the train station. One certainly feels home there immediately. The friendly and knowledgeable staff and the nicely prepared breakfast buffet round it all up to a great experience.

Shared bathrooms aren’t everyone’s thing. But it surely wasn’t a problem.

I was absolutelly happy to stay in such autentenic place! Yes, narrow stairs, the floor is a bit creaky, furnace, small bachroom...but for me everything were unique face of the hotel. Very kihdly staff ! thanks for the early check-in! Very tasty "farm" breakfast. Clean, comfortable, walking distance till main street. Greate value for money option!

a little bit heavy door in the room, you have to keep it every time to avoid a noisy

    9AndrewPosted on: 5-1-2025

Friendly helpful staff / our room was small (historic building) but totally adequate / great breakfast / although no private parking, plenty of public parking immediately opposite the hotel / great access to the old town / value for money.
