NH Groningen Hotel

Beautiful hotel! Very clean and pretty! Loved the close walking distance to fun restaurants and shops. Also the staff was so kind - would definitely come stay again!

Spacious room, good curtains that shut all the way, comfortable bed, comfortable shower, great to have coffee/tea in the room. I was able to leave a bag after my stay to attend a conference, which was very helpful for me! Great and fresh breakfast. My room also had quite a nice view of the city.

The room was very clean except for the shower: it had a lot of hairs from a previous customer, which I did not find very hygienic. The doors from other rooms and the airconditioning were also a bit noisy, luckily I brought earplugs!

The Location

The design of the bathtub is such that the showerhead is at one end, so the person has to stand on the curved part of the bathtub , I slipped several times. One of the elevators was out of service, and the stairs could not be used. The electric kettle was dirty. The parking key has, as a keychain, a blue piece of plastic approximately 5 cm wide by 30 cm long, which is extremely uncomfortable.

It was well designed, clean, and the rooms were comfortable. The gym on the top floor is great and clean too.

If I have to name one thing, the beds are slightly too hard

Location of the hotel was perfect. A few minutes walking distance to Grote Markt and also with many bus links around the hotel. Room was comfortable, breakfast was fair and staff was polite and helpful. Happy to return back if I visit Groningen again.

Parking was expensive, and tricky to get in and out.

Location

Check in procedure was horrible. Could not check in at 3:00pm. Was told room was not available at 2:15pm because of clean staff. At 3:30pm still no room.

The staff was vey professional, very helpful and friendly. I reserved a room accessible for handicapped people and it was just perfect, the bathroom was absolutely perfect for our needs. The staff went every other way to make everything accessible for us !! Just perfect. In addition, the location is close to downtown and there are three handicapped parking spots just in front of the hotel. Very convenient.

Everything was exceptional

Rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. Bed was a little hard but that's a personal preference. Location was an easy walk to central Groningen and the breakfast was always hot and delicious. The staff were all amazing and we really enjoyed speaking with them about Groningen highlights.

The hotel is right next to the hospital so you do hear the odd ambulance so if peace and quiet is your goal this may not be the right place. However, you're right beside the bus stop so that's a good tradeoff.

I really enjoyed my 3-night work stay at the Hotel NH Groningen. The room was very comfortable; I appreciated the provided both firm and soft pillows on the bed. And, they promote environmental friendly practices by offering you a voucher for a beverage. For sure, sign up for their breakfasts -- they're substantial and amazing! It's also right near the UMCG, so if you need to take a bus, there are bus stops nearby. You can use a bus to get to the train station as well for < 4 Euros.

The price per night was expensive.

No stairs with one elevator made going and coming from room painfully inconvenient and slow.

The staff was helpful and was able to provide me with my request for a bath in the room, which was mentioned in my booking. They helped me very quickly, and the last room I had was bigger, quieter, and with a working bath.

I had to change rooms three times. I had booked a room with a view and a bathtub only to check in and realize that my room had a shower. I went back to the reception and explained that my booking said I had a bath. I was told that the rooms with a view were renovated 2 months ago and there were no baths. I was given the option to check an older room with a bath, which I chose. Only to realize that a part of the bath tap came off, and I couldn't turn on the water. I called the reception and was moved to another room with a working tap and bath. Even though booking.com is a third party, you need to update the room description to make sure it matches what you offer.

Location and view

The beds were too firm and the pillows too soft, making it uncomfortable to sleep.

Nice big room with comfortable bed.There was some construction work in the Hotel. The noise woke me up very early but other than that it was good value for money.

The staff is super kind. The hotel is under small reconstruction, but everything was functional and nothing disturbing. Free bicycle renting is a super feature in the Netherlands, where typically that is the favourite way of transportation in the city centre.

It was a great location. The room was clean and comfortable. There was an excellent breakfast. The staff were wonderful.
