About
With Beausoleil as its anchor and Monaco straight ahead, Hôtel La Tonkine sets the tone for an easy, lively, beautifully located stay. A 3-star boutique hotel with 33 rooms and a suite, it is made for those who have a taste for carefully chosen places. Accessible, practical and full of energy, Hôtel La Tonkine lets guests enjoy the vitality of the city and the softness of the Riviera. Here, with a light step, a business meeting is just as easy to reach as a breath of fresh air in the sun, a romantic getaway or a few days with the family. At Hôtel La Tonkine, the rooms promise nights full of ease and freshness. Some embrace the charm of a bow window, others let the breeze drift in from a small balcony; the suite lends itself to family stays with effortless grace. Under soft lighting, soothing materials and ever-present comfort create a haven of rest. Poetic touches bring to life the refined modernity designed by artistic director Valéry Depont. A breeze through the foliage, a joyful energy in the air — everything here accompanies light, goodhumored days Right in Beausoleil, facing Monaco, Hôtel La Tonkine embodies the spirit of a 3-star boutique hotel that is both well-positioned and genuinely distinctive. Its Belle Époque façade, contemporary interiors and easy comfort make it a place of real character — simple to love and to live in. Because here, warm hospitality and neighborhood spirit come together with sincerity. There was a time when Beausoleil had a nickname: the Tonkin. That was the name given to this cosmopolitan corner of the city, clinging to the hillside above Monaco. Popular and colorful, people came from far away to live close together, in a lively density of neighbors and mixed accents. Hôtel La Tonkine pays homage to this joyful vibrato of the neighborhood: its name resonates with a panache that is both exuberant and modest, which has so gracefully run through the spirit of Beausoleil for over a century.

Cons -
- The internet connection was quite poor — the Wi-Fi didn’t work well in my room or even in the lobby
- View from room is poor but at least you can relax at the balcony, with morning coffee.Small minis as our air con stop working and it was hard to set it up again.

The room was clean and quiet. I would definitely recommend as base for anyone wishing to stay in Monaco without breaking the bank.
Comfortable convenient and cheap
Plumbing could do with a clean
Position is perfect, 500mt from Casino de Monaco, parking very convenient (but costs around 20€/night). Rooms are small but nice, clean, with small but nice balconies. Breakfast is ok, for 12€ I felt satisfied.
Not great soundproofing. Could hear everything from other rooms or from the street. Not a big problem since the location is quite calm and other guests were respectful enough.
I only had breakfast one morning. But there was plenty of choice of fresh food, coffee, juice
Really nothing I didn’t like. There was a kettle in the room which was good perhaps a coffee machine would make good addition?
The staff has been very kind helpful. The room was perfect and the hotel is centrally located.
Good base in a nice, quiet area. Restaurants are plentiful and some close to the hotel. Local shops and pharmacy also close to the hotel.
Nothing we disliked.
Location is good, cafe, shops, square Casino is near
The worst breakfast in the world, everything is not tasty and there is no choice and this is Monaco. If breakfast is included you can go and have a coffee, normal and a croissant. If they offer to pay extra, it is not worth taking, it is better to go to any cafe nearby…
Location was perfect. Staff was very friendly and the room was comfortable and clean.
Brilliant location, comfy bed, hot shower, we had a great stay!
The only thing I would say needs improving is maybe some more coathangers, there was only 4 in the room. Also, the key system could do with being updated, the key was very large to carry around all day. However these are minor things and doesn’t change how great of a stay we had.
Location was great for a short stay, not far to walk to the main area around the casino. The rooms were well equipped. Overall a pleasant stay
Great stay, unbelievable price for Monte Carlo, decent for exploring the city,
Not the hotel’s fault but it is very hilly on the way back from the harbour/city, apart from that- absolutely spot on, only thing that stopped me scoring it as a 10.
The hotel is located in Beausoleil. Amazing location - 8 minutes to the Monte Carlo casino, 10 minutes to the train station, Carrefour -1-2 minutes. A big advantage is tea, coffee and a teapot in the room.
Very good 3-star hotel in Monaco. Reasonably priced, within walking distance from all major tourist attractions in the center of Beausoleil. Accommodating staff. Speaks Italian and English. Large rooms with all amenities that you expect at this price range. Parking garage is right next to the hotel that makes it very convenient if you travel by a car.
I had a fantastic experience staying at this hotel. The property is spotlessly clean, and the location is simply unbeatable – it’s right on the border with Monaco, offering easy access to Monte Carlo. The room itself was spacious, with plenty of square footage, and came equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The price was very reasonable for what was offered, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore the area without breaking the bank.Overall, I was very impressed with my stay here. For the price, it’s an ideal option, and I would definitely stay again!
However, there were a couple of things that could be improved. The soundproofing is not the best – you can hear the traffic from the street and the bells from the nearby church, which might disturb light sleepers. Additionally, in our room, the window blinds were broken, so we couldn't fully block out the sunlight in the morning. That being said, I believe this was an isolated issue, and everything else was perfectly fine. All in all, despite these minor drawbacks, I enjoyed my stay and would still recommend this hotel for its excellent location and value!
Excellent location, practically on the border with Monaco, convenient walking distance from the train station. Large new and clean bathroom with a balcony, everything you need is there - shampoo, soap, body lotion, quality toilet paper, snow-white towels, old fashioned hair dryer, but normally working. The room itself is not new, with a not very convenient layout and is cramped, but it's expected, the furniture is old, the door of box for the minibar was broken, the minibar itself leaked a little, but the bed and pillows are comfortable, the linen is snow-white. The only thing that was inconvenient was the heavy, tight entrance door and the key that needs to be returned. We did not try breakfast, but if you want, you can get it on site. Thank you for our good stay!
Nice location, very close to parking, very clean and looks like recently renovated rooms. We spent very nice time! We didn’t have breakfast, so can not comment on this point
