Somewhat pricey!

Staff was very attentive

Looks and feels a bit dated, staff hardly speaks any English (although this is the norm in China, so was expected), compared to other cities in China value for money is rather poor in all Harbin

Spacious and well equipped room. Their shower has good water pressure. Location wise it’s next to a shopping mall and we are spoilt with different food options. The view from the room is also great!

The furniture looks a bit tired.

Comfortable and spacious room, though not as big and comfortable as the King room. We returned for another night there after 5 days out of Harbin city. Toilets are small comparatively but is clean as always.

The staff at the reception could be friendlier as her service attitude is not worthy of Sofitel’s high standard.

Staff members were really friendly. Nice gym. The room I stayed in had a good view. The dinner buffet at weekends were excellent.

1) Somebody smoked on non-smoking floor, the floor my room was. The smell was very strong in the hallway and even I could smell it in my room. 2) The room was not cleaned thoroughly daily. 3) The breakfast buffet had extreme limited items for people who needs gluten-free food due to medical, allergy conditions.

The hotel staff food and rooms were totally amazing! You actually felt like you were a valued client. All of the staff was very helpful and understanding of needs and worked very hard to make me comfortable.

The only thing I found a little confusing about was the heater/ac. There are air purification systems in each room and no matter what I did the room had a cold feeling but it was comfortable

Pretty good hotel, convenient location, good service. Not really new renovation, but it works. The best thing is their washing machine and dryer, super good. Also the food delivery robot, very cool..

A bit tired look

Not much considering what one can expect from Sofitel

Staff service at reception charging us more than our price without letting us know why, then telling us there was deposit when asked. Taking too long to get our deposit reversed. Reception staff not able to communicate in English in a hotel like Sofitel is unacceptable.Cooking staff service at breakfast, restaurant logistics and quality at breakfast: it was always a struggle to get our food due to crowd, we felt overall surroundings were dirty and old, cutleries were always missing. We were racing with Chinese tour groups to be able to get food. Unacceptable for a hotel like Sofitel.Room temperature was extremely hot and dry due to central heating being overdone.Far away location, we had to pay a lot of extra for ride hailing services. Bed shape was possible to change by a remote controller, but the remote didn't work half of the time forcing us to stay in a non sleep-able position and have to call staff to fix it.Bad quality of in-room coffee and soft drinks for Sofitel considering the price we paidConsidering the daily rate we paid, we were disappointed by service provided overall.

Dedication of staff always helpful even if very little of them spoke English and we speak no Chinese. Room was spacious enough for us and a child. Clean. The restaurant staff made sure we tasted the best for the Christmas as we arrived late for dinner: we very much appreciated ! The pool lockers and changing rooms were very clean and classy.

We received information that the swimming pool was closing the day before it actually closed it’s a bit short notice as we were really counting on it during our stay.

Delicious breakfast, comfy beds and bath

I got 2 rooms. My room on the 10th floor was perfect, but my room on the 17th floor was way too hot, especially at night. We opened the windows, turned off the heat, a,d it was still too hot! They had to bring up a fan.

Bed was very comfortable. Italian manager Guillo was very very helpful, unfortunately he was only one who was trying to do his job properly. Also receptionist Sky for giving us late check out and understanding our English from the first try. Also receptionist Elizabeth for actually checking us out with no hustle, as we were expected according to previous experiences in this hotel. We were so exhausted of such a bad service that when we got a normal pieces of that we got so exited, that I feel like we need to mention it.

When we arrived, we were very close to check out right away and go to another hotel. No one spoke English at the reception. The girl was trying to talk to us using translator!Also it was me and my wife anniversary, I let the hotel know about that in advance, so maybe they could do little something to surprise my spouse. They did. Right when we were checking in, receptionist worker asked my wife (with the translator) what time she wants them to set a surprise. What’s more, after, I went downstairs to cancel this wonderful “surprise” they have spoiled already. They could not understand the world I was saying. And then they called the room. Talked to my wife that they wanna “surprise her tomorrow”. Couldn’t even understand hers “Ok, make it at 12 in the afternoon”. They were keep asking “what time? 1 pm?” Next day we ordered food from outside. My wife, who speaks fluent Chinese, called and asked reception if they could deliver to the room. They said they will arrange somebody to do that shortly. After 10 min she called again and they said no delivery to the room, need to go downstairs. When I went down, I found out the reception didn’t even know where it was and made me to run around and look for it. Wifi was horrible. Was working on and off. Breakfast buffet was poor. Even a few things they had it was taking literally 20 minutes for them to refill. Once asked them to refill waffle dough bowl, so they just took the bowl, put it on the far table and left. No one came back. Carrying cheese from the kitchen with bare hands and just throw it on the plate?Why not!Nasty, dirty and not enjoyable at all. Room needs some serious renovation.Would be nice if 5 star hotel won’t have pieces of plaster fell of the ceiling. Room view was horrible as well. Was looking at building in front and could see people cooking and cleaning. And that’s a “room with a view”.Basic service was missing,no one ever helped us with our luggage when we arrived or sent us to our room
