Pros +
- Nothing at all
- Perfect location in the heart of the park. Many great hikes and activities close by. Can walk to River. Comfortable spacious room. Friendly staff.Great patio at restaurant.
- Very clean & quiet.
Cons -
- Amenities are poor
- Nothing - it was great.
- After making a reservation for a single room, I emailed (months early)if I could change to a double for an additional guest. They said that the price would go from $72 to over $200! Also, they provided a shuttle from Flam, but it is $30 per person ONE way for the 10 minute ride. The road is not safe to walk along, so hiking to the hostel was not an option. Wish I had spent the extra money and stayed in more expensive Flam for the convenience of being near my activities, train/bus, & food options, because I ended up spending extra money just to get there!

Nice kitchen facility. Comfortable size room for four, with a beautiful view!
It would have been nice to have one more toilet available.
Great value. Comfortable room. Communal kitchen well stocked. Easy checkin, check out.
Beautiful location.
Squeaky door. Room 9 and others.
The hostel is located in a charming centennial house with great views over the fjord. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the common areas are nice and spacious. Our room was bare-bones but comfortable.
The hostel doesn't offer double rooms, only twins and dorms. The check-out at 10 a.m. is too early. If you don't have your own wheels, the hostel is very difficult/costly to get to.
Incredible fjord views from the back porch!!! I loved sitting out there with my coffee and just enjoying the nature. Super clean and loved the heated bathroom floors. Well equipped kitchen. An easy 8 minute walk to town where there is a grocery store and like 2 cafes.
It’s not super well connected to other towns via public transport (bus a couple times a day) and there isn’t a foodie scene in the town. I ended up just cooking for myself but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me.
The staff I interacted with while on-site were pleasant. It seemed like the section of the hostel dedicated to the dorm rooms had been renovated fairly recently and were well-maintained. There’s a great view of the fjord from the deck of the hostel.I was there for weekdays in September so it was a bit quieter. I enjoyed having more than enough space and didn’t have to wait for the bathrooms or kitchen but could see this being different when it gets busy.
You get exactly what’s promised with this hostel. I went in expecting this and had a pleasant experience but can understand why this might be variable for others. The host notes this in their listing, but I wouldn’t rely on the transit offered by the hostel as your only option for reaching the hostel since it is “subject to availability”. I walked from downtown Aurland and didn’t find the hill too bad while carrying a backpack but could see it being more effort for someone with a large roller suitcase.
The dorm had decent mattresses and one outlet to use per bed, with a light. The kitchen was well equipped with everything one needs. The dining area was large with a good view. The warm floors in the shower rooms were lovely to have and the showers were new and in good shape.
There was bad WiFi in the dining area, the only place to sit. Not very comfortable sitting there for a few hours before going to bed. The curtains for the dorm beds need more dark colors since light pours in them.
All went well. Check in and out was easy. The Wifi, kitchen, Showers, and bathrooms were fine. Views were fantastic
Maybe inform people the 15 minute walk is up a hill.
The view. Even it was a shared bathroom, it was clean.
The number of the bathrooms were not enough. It was crowded especially in the evening. There can be dish washer in the kitchen.
Top location - great fjord view, plenty of parking, clean, affordable in that expensive area
I prefer private bathroom
Absolutely beautiful location! The facilities were wonderful as well and the help from staff was great!
There is no where to hang a towel in the rooms, this was a small inconvenience that did not affect our stay but could have been helpful.
The outdoor deck has an absolutely spectacular view of the fjord and is a lovely place to have a glass of wine or light dinner. The kitchen makes it easy to do this.
It's a bit of a hike up to the lodge from the village center. Not a big deal on foot, but can be a bit wearing if you're dragging luggage as we were. They do offer a paid shuttle (somewhat expensive) from nearby Flåm, but there is no bus service or taxi service in Aurland per se.
Great view over the fjord, ability to open windows, reasonable price, easy access to shuttle to/from Flam.
Didn't have plugs on both sides of the bed.
The views were amazing and the property was very clean.
The only thing I didn’t like was the staff. From the arrival to the check out; the attitude was very indifferent and close to rude.
The view from our room window was spectacular. The location was very good. The terrace of our house was great. The parking lot was very convenient, easy to come and go whenever we liked, with plenty of space.
The room did not have any hooks or hangers. The kitchen did not have any paper towels. The kitchen dishwashing sponge was so old and overused. Nobody was checking WC paper and paper towels during the day, so they ran out.
It was a bit hard to get to but worth it. Overlooks the fjord and is casual and comfortable. Would like to stay in a cabin next time.
Gorgeous views
Unfortunately, if you do not have a car, it’s impossible to stay here. We used the hotel shuttle service which was extremely expensive and hard to book. The location is not close to anything, and is quite expensive for a hostel room. I think this is the most expensive hostel I’ve stayed in.
