The location of the hotel. It is near of everything. I had a small situation with the first room they gave me but they fix it really quickly and actually relocate me on another bigger room.Breakfast was good too.

    all good

The room was bigger than I expected as the description indicated it was going to be a very small room with a bed and bathroom. However each room has a small balcony with chairs and a great view to the jungle, the interior is also very spacious and cozy, well illuminated and the bathroom has a great size too. The pools were always clean, and the breakfast options were delicious. Bonus points for having vegan options!

Nice pool and outdoors with many animals, comfortable beds and good breakfast. Close from beaches and Manuel Antonio national park

Not all rooms have an outdoor area so inside, can lack some space to dry personal items

Beautiful setting, great breakfast, lots of animals, close to Manuel Antonio Park and beaches

    7WernerPosted on: 4-21-2025

The Setting of the Hotel within nature and lots of animals to observe, great yoga classes with Mike and Betsa and Karen (Sound Journey), really nice yogadeck

When I did the reservation weeks ago, I asked for a quiet room and got one very close to street, pretty noisy. The two guys at front desk in general not very helpful and polite. The worst breakfast I ever had in a hotel of this level, just a few prefixed options to choose from which came in poor quality and extreme small portions, coffee - in a coffeeland - poor quality too. Talking to one of the nice girls at breakfast service, indirectly they confirmed that owners of hotel dont care about service, wellbeing and quality at all. Something you feel allover the place, lot of potential to improve……

    Nothing !

Worst place I’ve been to in years. An absolute scam. The rooms were essentially storage areas that had been awkwardly converted – they were clearly never designed to be hotel rooms. The interiors were dreadful, with everything poorly built or dodgily adapted. Walls were paper thin and you could hear everything from the other rooms. On top of that, it was massively overpriced for what you get. The staff were very poor, and the breakfast was below basic

    Pools were okay

Pictures do not reflect reality. The reviews are somewhat positive, but questionable. The door lock is not secure. The pool bar and sky bar were unavailable and closed. The bathroom is very old and definitely needs renovation. There was a wooden plank under the mattress. It’s too expensive for the quality – $300 for 2 nights is not worth it.The vent is barely attached and almost falling down.

The hotel is huge, with three swimming pools, huge green areas and it's so easy to see monkeys, iguanas, lizards, birds and capybaras. It almost makes a visit to the national park unnecessary. The hotel is undergoing renovations and, although I had booked a room without a private bathroom, I was given one with a private one, which we loved, of course, and we can only thank our luck. Perhaps they've simply done away with this type of room recently. However, you could tell that the renovations were recent and clumsy, as there were remnants of paint on the windows and even in the rubbish bin in the bathroom. Another less positive point is the lack of atmosphere - with so many swimming pools, there are two bars in the main one that are fully equipped and closed. All it would take is human resources and some ambient music and everything would be so much better. Curiously, during Friday and Saturday there were no events of any kind... but on Sunday at 7am they had live music during breakfast. It doesn't make sense. Overall, the stay was very good, it served our purpose perfectly, the location is excellent. It has the potential to be much better, because the structures are all there, what's missing is efficient management and an entrepreneurial spirit on the part of the new owners.

We spent a few nights at this hotel, and overall, it was decent. There was some renovation work happening during our stay, so it could be a bit noisy at times. I imagine the newly renovated rooms would be of a higher standard than the one we stayed in. Our room was fairly basic and could have been cleaned better, particularly around the main bed area, with a bit more attention to dusting. The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. There’s a nice yoga shala on-site, though unfortunately, no sessions were running during our stay. Still, it was a peaceful space to relax. The rooftop bar was also under maintenance, so we weren't able to enjoy that experience either.Great location, 5-10 minute walking distance to restaurants and shops.

Overall, the cleanliness of the rooms could be improved. It would also have been helpful to receive prior notice about unavailable facilities, such as the yoga sessions, rooftop bar, and potential disruptions from renovation work during our stay.

    - Lovely stay here during a visit to Manuel Antonio. The room had a very nice rustic feel to it with a nice comfortable bed.- The staff were really helpful. We were only here for one night so as we checked out in the morning to visit Manuel Antonio national park, they let us leave our bags after check out to collect on return. Finished earlier than expected at the national park but had a few hours before our transfer to Uvita, yet they were happy for us to use the pool and facilities while we waited.- The highlight here is sitting around the pool! We had parrots flying overhead, Toucan's landing in bushes next to us, iguanas and agoutis wandering around, plus deer just over the hotel wall.

Did not stay long enough to pick out any faults

Alma Vida is a beautiful place! Staff were very helpful and accommodating! Love the pools and the breakfast was very good! Location is great too! Just be prepared for lots of stairs!

Nice hotel but actually under renovation. Our room was really small but clean and already renovated - little dark during the day but had a really good lights in the evening. Good location for the Manuel Antonio national parc trip or a sundowner on the beach. There are many restaurants nearby with an ocean view. The rooftop bar just opened. After the renovation it could be a nice spot!

Parts of the hotel are under renovation - sometimes very loud. There are a lot of steps to go - nothing for elderly people.

The property was beautiful and I loved seeing all the wildlife. The pools were clean pool chairs were clean and well maintained. The made to order breakfast was was fantastic.

There were stairs everywhere. The layout of the property is part of the ambiance but it would not be suitable for someone with a walking disability.

Excellent location, nice accommodations and property. Staff at the hotel was very helpful and accommodating very friendly. Excellent breakfast.

Pool was a little dirty. Mostly due to being outdoors and high pollen.

LOVED the manager, Paola, owner Dave, and all the staff!!! They go the extra mile to make sure each guest is taken care of and that their needs are addressed. Loved the breakfasts, the flexibility, the order options. Loved the open kitchen, TV/game area, the outdoor dining and lounge area, the grounds. Loved the comp driving service to and from surgery.

    1. no access to netflix from the room... would love to be able to sign into our Netflix or Amazon Prime accounts from our room and watch a movie at night.2. no heavier window shades to keep the room darker in the early morning. My wife had surgery and needed to sleep longer but the window shades let in so much light that it woke her up earlier than we would have liked3. Hot tub could be a bit warmer. 4. Would love to see a small outdoor pull-up bar/exercise setup with an outdoor shower to rinse off before jumping in the pool.5. Would like the hotel to arrange for Uber and charge the room for the cost, but not sur-charge. Just make it a pass-along to the guest (many hotels do this... they negotiate best rates, including gratuity and arrange for pickup times and locations for the guests, but don't add a margin for the hotel). Not a big deal; just a nice guest service.

Lovely hotel, conveniently located at the bus stop so you can park your car when you arrive and move around only by bus, which is recommended if you plan on visiting the nearby beaches or the Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio. The breakfast is nice, even though service can be a bit slow, so make sure you're not on a tight schedule. We even participated in a free salsa class, very unexpected but super relaxed and friendly! The room has all it needs :)

Breakfast service is a bit slow -- we didn't anticipate this so it can get quite stressful if you booked activities at specific times afterwards.
