Pros +
- location was beautiful
- Great view from balcony. Modern room with enough space for a family of four.
- Location and very friendly people around
Cons -
- Spa and pool area not open to kids--wish we knew that beforehand. Bathroom door is transparent, inhibiting privacy.
- TV was not working properly
- - the 85 - 95 °C panorama sauna was always too hot with the thermometer showing 100 °C throughout whenever we used it during our 3 day stay. Since we are frequent sauna users, we have some experience too judge this. staff needs too check more closely for that as we almost burned our skin. maybe better remove the water buckets from this sauna as unexperienced sauna users might forget to vent the room properly before putting water over the hot stones- clean plastic cups in the sauna area were frequently gone in the evening i.e. one had to go to the reception and ask for new cleaned cups otherwise one couldn't enjoy the free tea and water- some of the massage jets in the pool did not work even though we properly pushed the adjacent submerged button- some of the skirting boards in our room were loose- the towel rails were loose- even though we got a room upgrade, our toilet didn't have a normal door, only a sliding door i.e. toilet noises are well hearable for the 2nd person :-(- there was a strange, somehow unsettling picture in our room showing underwear drying on a line (see attached picture)

The wellness facilities were excellent. Paul was exceptional and friendly as a staff member.
The wifi needs boosters throughout the hotel as the connection kept dropping. The spa bathrobes need to be larger and longer.
Nice location, beautiful infinity pool with great views Delicious breakfast nice amenities.
Small room with no windows, infinity pool was a little cold
The location, across the road from the lake with beautifulViews of the snow capped mountains overlooking the lake.
Odd behaviour of staff eg. I had dinner in the hotel on one of the nights I was there. I came early hoping to get a table by the window and watch the sunset. However I was advised that these tables were reserved for guests who were eating dinner at the hotel every night. The window tables remained empty for the duration of my meal. I compromised by taking a glass of wine out to the deck beyond the dinning room, from there I had an interrupted view of the sunset and was also blocking the view of the privileged few allowed to occupy the window tables?. I found the meal very ordinary eg the fish option was steamed cod in white sauce ??. I really enjoy staying at upmarket interesting hotels and stayed in some fabulous places during my stay in Germany. The Hotel Hopfensee did not measure up. The pool is pretty but very small.
Fabulous views from the roomBalcony was nice touchThe basement sauna and steam facility was pretty good some of the staff, Jorge and Daniel were nice Good restaurant next door, we didn’t want the fixed menu at this hotel so couldn’t comment on the food - although breakfast was satisfactory
Some staff were rude, and shouldn’t be in hospitality, we felt like we were walking on eggshells for first few days Rooms were pretty basic, not great at keeping out noise. Pillows were very lumpy and uncomfortable Style of hotel was odd, with tacky posters and strange neon lights that made it look like a nightclub Expensive rates for Oct and what hotel actually offers There is contemporary music playing constantly through the building but they are badly done cover versions and so you can listen to all your favorites being butchered! Wanted to like the hotel but it was a real mixed bag
the pool facilities are amazing and dinner was of the highest standard.
Room was the only one left and was OK but only a small window with a view of the bins
mmm can't think of anything
It was not what I was expecting from a 5* spa. Had to pay to park across the road, if there was a space. The room was very small and dark. Dinner on first night was good but second night I had to send my meal back and choose another. I asked for tap water after ordering 40 euros wine and was told not available and then charged 8 euros for mineral water. For a spa the water pressure in the bedroom shower was weak and in the actual spa the same.We will not be returning as very poor value for money and the receptionist was not very happy to be working there it seemed!
Great location on the lake away from the crowds in Fussen. The spa facilities are all lovely.
I would suggest not booking a lake view in the summer because the sun shines directly into your room in the afternoon and it is very hot when you try to sleep.
Beautiful locationLoved the pool and the sunbeds
No advanced notice that long trousers were needed for men to eat in the restaurant. Caused a very unpleasant conversation with staff as my son didn’t have any trousers with him. Staff were rude. This information Could have been included in important information section on booking.com. I also had emailed requesting to book a table and it could have been included in the reply.
Location, views, cleanliness
Limited parking, no air conditioning, pool only for those above 16 yrs old.
Great location, great staff. I wish we could have stayed longer.
No A/C or fans and even with the door to the balcony wide open, it was stifling hot in the room. We stayed out of the room during the day so it was only a problem at night.
Spa areas and Mountain View
Rooms need renovation, everything is old, looks unpleasant and damaged (old damaged closet and scratched floor together with interior from 2000 doesn’t cost 300/night).Staff was a bit indifferent and slow (the cleaning team was great and helpful though)
Nice rooms, friendly employees, good breakfast! Fantastic stay!
amazing location, friendly staff
bedroom small, not great view. interior a bit tired
Spectacular location on the lake, just stroll out the front door for a beautiful walk or swim on the lakeshore. Lovely pool and view, beautiful spa facility. Breakfast was superb. Bar staff were really fun and entertaining. Room was beautiful and modern and parking very convenient.
We thought our balcony room would be on the lake and were really looking forward to the view, but we missed that 'balcony' does not mean a view of the lake - we had a view of the parking garage. Our mistake. Also, if you don't purchase the full board package that includes dinner, you cannot dine at the restaurant and are sent next door. It was a decent alternative but unexpected.
They clean everything middle of the day
Our room was dirty when we check-in. We told staff and they only say that tomorrow somebody came to clean that. When the next day came and cleaning was done there was still dirt. Spa was very clean and I don't like that housekeepers were cleaning everything the whole time. Every second somebody was cleaning something when you just try to relax. They even cleaned the windows during the day. Spa and swimpool was only open 10 am - 9 pm. You can't watch stream like Netflix etc.
Very nice breakfast & the spa area was very nice with beautiful views of the lakes and mountains. Rooms were clean and staff were friendly and accommodating.
Only negative that we experienced was the parking. The hotel has a small amount of parking and there is also public parking but, finding a parking spot proved to be a little bit challenging.
