This exclusive hotel offers scenic mountain views and cozy rooms in an annex of the historic Leopoldskron Palace, just 1.2 mi from Salzburgās historic center. Scenes from The Sound of Music were filmed on site, and the Salzburg Festival was founded there. The property is divided in 2 buildings, the Meierhof and the Palace The 55 rooms in the Meierhof Building and the 12 Suites which are located in the palace, feature satellite TV and a bathroom. A fitness center and bikes are at guests' disposal upon availability and free WiFi is provided in all areas. Leopoldskron Palace is privately owned and not generally accessible to the public. Guests enjoy free access to the palace, the Max Reinhardt Library, and the chapel. The daily breakfast buffet is served in the majestic breakfast room in the palace. In good weather conditions, guest can also have their breakfast on the panorama balcony. Free private parking and two charging stations are available at Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron. - Front desk staff was wonderful. Very helpful. Property is secured with gates. Breakfast staff and food can not be beat. Beautiful view and excellent food. Plenty of free parking.
- The breakfast was located in the building next door and was just stunning! The room was small but clean and comfortable. The staff did an excellent job keeping large intrusive tour groups off the property.
- The staff and the scenery. The grounds were lovely!
Cons -
- Everything was beautiful, met or exceeded my expectations.
- The location is about a 20 minute walk into old town. Be careful when booking double bedroom vs doublebed room.
- The lack of air conditioning and the fans we had in both rooms not working properly. (One died in the middle of the night and the other would run when it darn well felt like it. A minute here, a few minutes there, and forget about ocillating!)

Location,location,location.The back of this house IS Sound of Music. Tour groups are not allowed on property-only hotel guests.I spent hours admiring snow colored Alps,& SOM gate & lions(Maria canoe scene.) Great brunch Inc in rate. Free bikes to use too!
