- It is a good hotel in terms of the location. The staff is good always helping.
- The location is convenient, rooms were good and toilets were decent. Two of the staff there deserve special mention, Sanjay & Pankaj, who were especially helpful, enthusiastic and always had their smile on. The stay at Hotel Samaya was good because of them. Sanjay helped with the luggage and fixed the TV issue late at night and with great positive energy. Pankaj (loves to wear his red cap) was always polite, respectful and never said no, kept our favorite table (with a view) at the restaurant reserved and even called my room to update that Breakfast / Dinner was served and my favorite table was ready. He was always ready nearby so we didn't have to even get up and get our food. It was served piping hot at our table every time. This attitude, care and helpful nature of Pankaj is what made this stay memorable.The food at the restaurant could be better and Pankaj and the other staff there were always open to feedback and do better when we came in the next time around. They were also helpful with advice on adjusting to the high altitude as we had just landed. These few are Rockstars and the reason why you should stay at Hotel Samaya in Leh.

- Front desk responses lacked energy, enthusiasm and the will to get things done. It seemed everything was more about avoiding a request (even for something like a small bag to put my shoes in). The front desk flat out said we don't have any plastic/cloth/laundry bags which seems odd for a hotel.Housekeeping could have been better. When I asked to change the water glasses, the staff actually took the used glasses into my bathroom and started washing it with the handwashing soap. Had to tell them not to do that here and replace with fresh glasses.The room wasn't cleaned, towels not replaced, bed not made after the first night and the front desk told us that since we didn't tell them, they didn't do it. This is something expected at a hotel and the staff didn't mention this on check-in and nor do they have the "clean my room" sign.

The hotel was conveniently located, only 10 minutes drive from the airport a 5 minutes walk from the hotel to downtown Leh Mall.
