Nothing. It was as expected, well located and good value.
The staff especially Nello was so helpful. Recommend a great restaurant where the owner drove us home to the hotel. Excellent staff.
The position is extremely convenient for whatever may bring you to Pavia, or as a good base to travel to Milan. I stayed very little since I had an early start the next day, so I didn't try the breakfast. Everything was well kept and tidy.
Located next to train station
Facilities a little worn in need of upgrade
Amazing staff! Good location and very clean!
Conveniently situated near the railway station. Smallish bathroom but adequate. Fresh towels each day. Good breakfast - same each day.
Strange arrangement of rooms . We were on 5th floor via a separate lift. No water left in the room. No parking available. We had to search in the crowded streets each evening.
Rooms are comfortable and staff is very helpful. Breakfast is good, only cold food but very fresh.
Nothing to complain about
Good location, good service, friendly staff...
When you consider the price/performance ratio, the breakfast seemed good enough but could be improved. For example, a few types of cheese, scrambled eggs and some vegetables such as tomatoes can be added.
Breakfast was good although not included in the room rate.
My room had all the necessary facilities but lacked character. It was essentially a clean and comfortable box.
Breakfast was excellent and good value.Prior comments suggested it is noisy because of thin walls. We had no problems.
The hotel was a stones throw from Pavia station and a few minutes walk into the main centre. Close to shops, restaurants, and cafes. Also, beautiful patisserie opposite and a laundrette. The hotel and the room were spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable.Staff were friendly and welcoming.
There was no kettle in the room, really needed on cold days/nights.There was a strong smell of sewage sometimes.
Very big and comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and cleaned. Room service impeccable.Nice location attached to the train station, not too far away by walk from the city centre as well. So it is recommended for travellers.
Walls to thin so you hear literally everything and I have been woken up in the middle of the night by other people who arrived in the room next to mine one. I didn’t like also the fact that you were given a unique code to join the free WiFi, which last just 24 hours. So, every day, you have to go at the reception and ask for a new code.
Hotel Excelsior is in the square of the main railway station, and it is in good position to visit the city. The room was big, with a comfortable enough bed. Breakfast was barely OK for the price I was charged (8.00 euros per day). Staff were friendly.
Insulation from noise in the room is almost non-existent: from outside I could hear passing trains day and night, and from rooms nearby people talking aloud. The bathroom was small, with a very noisy fan, and with a shower that was far too small (less than one square meter) and without any place where I could put the soap.Checkout was very early: at 10:30 am of the day of departure.
The hotel is next to the train station which is great and it's pretty clean.
Very old style hotel, which can be both pro and con based on your taste. There was no soundproofing. The person next-door was snoring during the whole night and I could hear him as if he were in my room. Btw there are a few stairs to get to some of the rooms and no help from the staff for the luggages. Overall, it was way too expensive for what it offered.
Breakfast was good good variety Alan
After a shower, the bathroom didn’t dry out. The floor was always wet.
Room is very clean and tidy. Renovated in modern style. Location very close to old town.
Noise from outside A/C unit, but it is tolerable.
Really convenient location a block away from the train station and around fifteen minutes walking to the city center. Also had a couple supermarkets a few blocks away. The room was big, clean and had a balcony overlooking the park in front of the station. Beds and pillows were comfortable. The staff was courteous.
DON'T book this hotel if you want a fridge in your room. They don't work. When we complained, they said that the fridges are only to keep bottles of water cool ¿? Though that is even a lie since the inside of the refrigerator got hotter than the room with the AC on. Chocolate melts if you put it inside. They make you store your food and beverages in the hotel bar's refrigerator, so whenever you want to drink or eat something you have to get dressed, go to the reception and ask for your stuff. It's insane. They have an archaic wifi setup and you have to ask the staff for a new code to login every 24hs for each device. Internet speed is also not the fastest. The shower space is really small, if you're a big person you won't be able to shower easily or maybe even fit.
The room we got assigned was recently renovated.
The room rate on the price list at the hotel is really more expensive than the price on Booking. We believe it was overpriced. The hotel was closing for their summer break from the day after our arrival and they were not able to keep our luggage after checkout and we would have preferred to be notified about it in advance. The area around the station can be dodgy at night. In one day we met 5 different staff members at the reception.
