About

- Perfectly located and felt like a home away from home. Loved the beautiful decorations and antiques all around the hotel and rooms. Homemade breakfast and a warm host!
- Breakfast was very good with many selections for discerning travelers. Dining room was spectacular for dinner and breakfast, with panoramic views of the valley. The hand painted roses around the beautiful dining room made such a beautiful setting ! Loved the dining area!
- A unique experience . Authentic. Amazing view. Even after our early departure the stuff prepared us a breakfast box on the go, remarkable. Having a breakfast and enjoying that view is a must in a travellers check list.
Cons -
- No parking at hotel location. Parking was provided but a fair hike from the hotel. You must lug your luggage from parking lot to hotel. Not a problem for us. Just the facts.
- Nothing much to say here. Just a little tricky to drive there but it though part of the experience.
- Nothing. Our stay was wonderful!

We had a beautiful lake view from our windows. The bathroom was large. There were steps to get to our room, this was expected and understood because the hotel is a historic one. Everything was very clean, bed was very comfortable and other furniture in the room was adequate. Breakfast was really good, they offered many choices for beverages and food, way better than a continental breakfast. We liked the historic atmosphere of the hotel and area. They have their own coffee shop inside the hotel that locals use, this is a huge plus for us. The romantic dinner was adorable with all the candles and great service, the food was delicious (I eat a vegetarian diet and they made some of the best vegetarian dishes I have ever tasted). We liked the charm and hope to come back again someday.
Nothing. Our stay was wonderful!
The view from the balcony is just amazing. Polite staff and very delicious food in the restaurant. The memory photo as a compliment ?
Everything is just perfect...location, accommodation, clean and heated apartment, crystal white bed linen, beautiful view through the windows, excellent breakfast.
The car park is quite far away, which is difficult if you have heavy luggage.
The unique location, high in a historic village on a hill behind Varese. Staff were excellent. Room was large with comfy, king size bed and views to the lakes. We woke to the sound of the church bells.
Restaurant food was overpriced and portions very small.
Great view, great room, great bed, great food
The property itself and the history of it, together with the stunning view are gorgeous. The room was specious and the bed very comfortable. The special cocktails are a must try there
The Al Borducan Romantic Hotel, nestled in the medieval village of Sacro Monte di Varese, offers a unique blend of vintage charm and modern comfort. The hotel is housed in an elegant Liberty-style villa dating back to 1924. Its location within the UNESCO World Heritage Site adds to its allure.Rooms and Facilities: Each of the ten individually decorated guestrooms retains the original Art Nouveau style, complemented by choice vintage furniture. Modern amenities such as satellite TV, telephone, safe, free Wi-Fi, minibar, and en suite bathrooms ensure a delightful stay.Dining Experience: The hotel’s restaurant, aptly named the “Love Restaurant,” sets the stage for romantic moments. Candlelit dinners and lunches on the panoramic terrace offer breathtaking views. Please note that the restaurant policy restricts dinner service to adults only.Precious Moments of Relaxation: Whether sipping afternoon tea, enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace, reading a book in the garden, or resting in one of the cozy rooms, Al Borducan provides precious moments of relaxation.Overall Impression: Al Borducan Romantic Hotel is a hidden gem—a splendid venue for special occasions and unforgettable memories.
The allure of opening the windows to let in fresh air was quickly dampened by the romantic noises—mainly the creaking beds and distant laughter from neighboring rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, this might pose a challenge. We were the loud/romantic ones, no problem for us :)
Everything. Old world charm, beautiful decor, views, location, price.
Interesting hotel in an historic village. Parking was confusing at first but we figured it out thanks to a helpful person who happened to be walking nearby. I recommend the smallest vehicle possible if you must travel by car. Our room was on the lower level; I imagine upper level rooms have better view. Loved hiking nearby.
Perfect location Nice staffClean place with good panorama
Fantastic hotel in a historic town. Breathtaking views from the hotel. Good breakfast and dinner.
Car parking is a bit difficult.
It was a great experience to stay one night in this lovely hotel. We appreciated our stay very much. The room, the view over the sea till the snowy mountains, the conversation with the owner and the staff. Also the breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately the restaurant in Al Borducan was closed on tuesday but the restaurant that was recommended by the owner was also extremely good. We will recommend your hotel tò our friends.
It was already my 2nd stay at Borducan and the second dinner we had there - great experiance and I hope to visit this place again. Great kitchen, staff and location.
Very nice restored hotel with a lot of charm, very friendly staff and good service, good breakfast and excellent restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere, great view from the terrace and certain rooms.Be aware that you're remote on a hill above Varese, but that's what makes this place special. Nice surrounding area with a lot of possibilities for hiking, etc..Visiting Varese and traveling by train and bus/cable car is possible and quite easy, even with luggage (hotel helps with timetables).
Not much. Egg dishes on the breakfast buffet unfortunately a bit cold, restaurant very good and recommended but certainly rather expensive, there are inexpensive alternatives for lunch in the area, for dinner other restaurants in Sacro Monte in the upper price range too.
Very nice place
Don't go there on a Sunday or a public holiday or a Sunday, it's very crowded and parking is virtually impossible.
LocationHistoric building and deco of bedroomsRomantic restaurantEvening menuBalcony in the bar
Private parties over Halloween period preventing use of restaurant.Notified in advance that there were to be children in the adult only romantic restaurant. We were not notified that we would not be able to access the restaurant on most nights of our stay Thankfully, there are some excellent restaurants in the village
Excellent views. For hikers.
Bus stops from Varese could be better guided.
