Hotel City Locarno

Wonderful hotel, superb breakfast, great location, use of Ticino ticket was a big plus.

The funicular was going through its annual inspection and thus closed, no fault of hotel.

Location and friendliness and value for money.

I used to be able to reserve a garage parking spot (no.20) because we have an enormous car. Now that this is not possible anymore we have to find car solutions which fit. Super inconvenient. That’s the only negative point for me.

- Great location, 5 min walk to the promenade and the lake. City centre is also walking distance - Many restaurants nearby- Small hotel, 2 floors, with elevator - Friendly personeel - Good breakfast area with balconies - Clean room

- Poor breakfast options (cold food only, even eggs are cold boiled from the supermarket) I wish there was a bit more variety of warm food- Airconditioning in the room could be a bit too loud for some guests (even in the min fan speed)- Tight underground parking, hard to maneuver between cars and poles, very small distances between cars

I used to come to this hotel many years ago with my parents, when it was the Pestalozzi hotel, and I am happy to see that they have refurbished the rooms and the public areas. They did a very good job and also the staff in the reception and the restaurant were very kind.

This hotel was refurbished inside but they urgently need to clean and refurbish the facade and the external parts.

Close to the lake, 5 mins walk from the railway station. The Ticono ticket is an added bonus for travelling around the local area. Excellent restaurant attached to the hotel.

Best pizza we ever had in a while at the hotel restaurant!

Hotel parking was full, so we were directed to the public parking very near, and told the EuropeCar office in the garage would apply discount granted by the hotel. However, at departure time, EuropeCar attendee refuse to take credit card or any other currency than CHF… sounds a little fishy that a rental company wouldn’t have a Credit Card reader in my opinion… at any rate, we had to go to a bank to get CHF, a good thing this was not on a Sunday.

Clean modern room. Shower was hot and good room facilities. The reception is keen to help whenever asked. Very close to the city centre and to the main sights

The hotel located at nice area near old town and the modern district , there are a very good restaurants around the hotel area where including the hotel restaurant, also , the hotel is a few steps from the lake , the hotel was clean and modern , secured and cosy.

Friendly & attentive staff always ready to assist with any needs making service both efficient and enjoyable. Option for a late check-out greatly appreciated.Room 307 peaceful and comfortable providing a restful night’s sleep. Delicious breakfast with a variety of options to start the day right. Adding a small regional specialty would bring a nice local touch to the experience.

Less impressed than before

We used to be able to book a numbered parking spot and the reception very kindly placed a sheet of paper on our spot with our number plates mentioned on it. Everything has changed due to new management. Such a shame. Nothing is like it was ?

While I've been to Locarno several times, this was my first stay in the Hotel City Locarno. I was very pleased with it. It's in a "downtown" area, but very walkable and pleasant (about an 8 minute walk from the train station, two minute walk from the closest bus stop) and is close to a park and Lake Maggiore. The staff spoke excellent English and was very friendly. My single room was smallish but very adequate, quiet, and comfortable; the bed was great. Plenty of outlets available. The bathroom facilities were fine. Wifi was great. The breakfast offerings were varied and tasty. We tried the Italian restaurant on the hotel property and were also pleased with the pleasant service and delicious food. (Reservations recommended or go right when it opens as it filled up quickly on a weekday night.) Property photos are accurate. Highly recommend this property.

All was wonderful.

Very fiendly and efficient front of house. Comfortable room with tea/coffee machine. Excellent location. Secure public parking right next to hotel : hotel has minimal parking which needs to be reserved in advance.

Hotel City is well situated near the centre of Locarno and a short walk from the lake. Friendly and efficient staff, simple and comfortable room with air conditioning, fridge and Nespresso machine and good breakfast.

Located inna quiet side street right in the center of the city. Beds where confortable.

Beds where comfortable but very narrow for two people. Could not find an „off switch“ nor an „off setting“ on the aircondition switch. The aircon was too loud and blowy.

The hotel was very clean with friendly staff.

Nothing negative; the bathroom was a bit small but we stayed just one night and it wasn’t an issue for us.

Perfect hotel for an economical stay in Locarno…where everything is expensive. Super staff - cheerful and welcoming under cover hotel parking. Rooms are fine and the hotel is in a great position.

Welcoming and friendly staff. Got a upgrade and I traveled super spontaneously. Will come back to this very central and clean hotel for sure.

I very surprise for this hotel that everything very good since check in until check out. I can take a rest here and sleep very well whole night . The wine tasted very delicious.
