Hotel Aare Thun

The hotel location was great, 5 min walk from Train. Rooms were wonderful. Breakfast was outstanding. Hotel front desk staff, extremely pleasant - food service staff wonderful, efficient, and friendly. We recommend highly this hotel.

Great location, very clean, helpful staff and delicious buffet breakfast. Thun was our base for 5 days to travel to various towns for hiking. Its close proximity to the train station was ideal. The our room was comfortable, spotless and spacious. We loved the buffet breakfast as it was a convenient & delicious way to start the day prior to a day of hiking.

The aesthetic of the hotel is great. We booked a standard room. The shower and toilet area are spacious and feel luxurious. I enjoyed the smell of the bath products. The room felt a little cramped but there was adequate storage for us to unpack. The view from the room was good. The nespresso machine was nice when it worked. The location in Thun is fantastic.

The bed was too firm and the pillows were extremely flat and unsupportive. One day our room was tidied by housekeeping who took our towels without replacing them. My husband was in the shower when we realized but there was a language barrier between myself and several people I contacted for help. I was able to use Google translate to finally get one towel. I didn’t love the sink separate from the rest of the bathroom but I understand it makes the most of the space available. The nespresso machine kept malfunctioning, but when it did work we enjoyed having it. The location is great but there’s a lot of foot traffic outside so there’s no privacy if you’re on the first floor and have your curtain open.

Room was very clean and cozy. Nice narrow view of the water and alps.

For me the lighting was not good enough but I am older and lighting is an issue most of the time. Not the fault of the hotel. On sunny days the open drapes gave the room lots of light.

The hotel was in a great location and we had a beautiful view of the river.

We didn't care for the breakfast offered.

Breakfast was lovely, had a full spread of cheeses and muesli. Room was very cute and modern.

The restroom exhaust fan is way too loud. Also lots of cool buttons but need labels to see what the do.

Trendy, clean and great location. Walking distance to train station and other activities.

Rooms were hot as the ac seems to have been restricted when the weather got a little cooler from the rain. Rooms are small but modern.

Breakfast was not rich

Sleep with the doors open if you're on the side of the river. Simply turn off the lights, so you don't attract the bugs. Amazing stay. Beautiful hotel. Great staff. Thun was the perfect alternative to Interlaken. Way better value. Less tourisms, so I felt the overall experience was so much more pleasant.

The location was great - right in the river and close to everything.

The rooms were extremely small and the AC was not really functioning. It was extremely hot at night. We could barely lay out our luggage and the room is definitely small than advertised.

Weird ergonomic of the room with a sink in the bedroom and no sink in the bathroom. The room is also quite small.

Lovely modern design, great location and a fabulous restaurant.
