Hotel Alpha Thun

The location was close to our event.

The attitude of the reception ist. Her in flexibility and charging us for the extra bed we did not need because we were able to book the right amount of rooms. Total 3 rooms. The extra charge for the bed was unreasonable under these circumstances. The same receptionist served breakfast but looked like she hated her job and would rather be elsewhere.

Hotel Alpha Thun ReviewThe whole property feels quite dated.Our room was on the third floor, but the elevator only goes up to the second—thankfully we were traveling light.The hallway had a flickering light and a very worn-out carpet that made the space feel neglected. The wooden flooring inside the room was a relief; carpet would have made it feel even less clean.The room itself was reasonably clean but lacked power outlets and had a very old TV. Towels were thin and tired-looking.There was a faint wood smell in the room—not unpleasant—but the bathroom had an intermittent unpleasant odor that came in occasional whiffs.The tilted roof window was as expected, and while I understand the exterior is difficult to keep clean, the interior—specifically around the exhaust vent area—was filled with visible rubbish (see photo).The bed was a major downside: a soft, low-quality IKEA mattress, an awkwardly soft pillow, and a metal bed frame that squeaked with the slightest movement. Breakfast was minimal, with a very limited selection.The one positive was the location—right in front of a bus stop with frequent service.We stayed two nights in Thun, and our other hotel on the opposite side of the river was significantly better at the same price point. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Alpha Thun.

The hotel is placed very central. 20min walking distance from the station. For just a night quite nice especially as it is super close to the Thuner Seespiele - 5min walk.

The price is super expensive for its conditions. The bathroom in my room wasn’t really clean and the sockets haven’t been working so no chance to charge batteries.

Bed is so comfortable, warm room, great cappuccino.

Rooms were old but clean, the breakfast had limited options but good enough. Location was excellent, easily accessible by bus and close to the lake.Staff at the breakfast and restaurant were super kind and friendly.

The lady at the reception was clearly distracted and impatient. We did not feel welcomed during check-in and throughout our multiple interactions with her over several days. She did not offer the free bus pass that was included in the booking to us and got obviously annoyed we asked about this.

They served breakfast and it was good but no hot meals. Thun travel card allow for local public transport free. They have a lift to go for upper floors.

Slightly expensive, limited reception opening time.

Great location just across the lake with any easy bus ride into Thun or to Spiez.

The amneties and location.

There is a no parking in the hotel premises. However you can park at a public car park which is like 3 minutes walk away and costs around 5-7 Francs per day. But since its a public car park keep your valuables with you.

The was only one chair in the room for 2 guests!! And no oxygen around to ask for a second chair until the morning we left

The staffs were friendly

The bed was too soft for my liking but the rooms were comfortable.

perfect for what I needed. incredibly clean and comfortable….but….

We never got our travel cards, toilet had brown stains and there were lots green moths in the bathroom

This hotel was very good value for money ! The parking was very convenient andbreakfast was included, which I wasn't expecting, plus there was free WiFi.Clean, comfortable, personal welcome and convenient location all make this a hotel I would choose again in the future.

I couldn't find anything I didn't like. The hotel is right on the lake. You will find everything you are looking for at a better price than a competitive hotel!! Choose Alpha!

Convenient location for buses and access to the pool. Staff was friendly and helpful. No A/C in the rooms so August was not ideal.

No A/C. The rooms, halls, and furnishings are more like a Motel 6 rather than the descriptions about “Traditional woodwork and modern furniture”

Housekeeping staff were rude. The waiter serving breakfast was pleasant and helpful

City tax had to be paid at the hotel. No free parking. Staff except in the restaurant were extremely rude

Great breakfast and easy to get to from the central train station (via bus).

The location of the hotel is excellent. Rght outside was the bus station. Place is mainted very well. Spotless,rooms cleaned every day

The breakfast could be better. Some change day to day. All the staff except Anita were brilliant. Anita was very unwelcoming and she really needs to greet guests with a smile not a long face!!.Other staff were really helpful and friendly

Room was facing Main Street so eventually quieted down.

Good location, just 7 mins from Thun rail station, well connected by bus # 1 having a very good frequency. Room was spacious. Beds were comfortable. Our package had buffet breakfast for which items were good enough.

Coffee machine in the reception area was not working. The TV in our room didn't work, I wanted to watch Euro 24 matches after a long day of sightseeing, but alas! This is unacceptable, as I paid 390 CHF just for 2 nights stay. The standing fan in our room also had issues in getting switched on and had to be attended by the hotel staff twice. I had a booking for me and my wife for a family room, which would have been quite comfortable for us, as well as for our 13 years old daughter. However, the lady at the reception didn't allow my daughter to use the room and charged us an additional 80 CHF to change the booking to a bigger room, citing a few baseless rules of the government. This was arm twisting and extortion, as the room we had booked was a family room good enough for 3 people. I was not at all happy with this behaviour of the hotel. Avoid the hotel, if possible. Behaviour and customer service of the hotel staff need to improve a lot.
