GAIA Hotel Basel - the sustainable 4 star hotel

The hotel is perfectly located to downtown so you can walk everywhere. Great restaurants and shopping nearby.

The mattresses were a bit too hard, but this was the only thing negative about the hotel.

Location was great, near the train station, grocery store, bars and restaurants. Nice area! Breakfast in the am, was a very nice plus.

Was no coffee maker in the room, ( when booked, was told there was) the shampoo, lotions offered were so watered down and runny they were unusable. The ? king sized bed? were two twins pushed together with a ridge in the middle.

Small boutique hotel away from the city center but close to rail station and all transportation. Charming room, very good price considering is was Switzerland where everything is expensive.

The staff were great as I would expect. The room was super. It was on the 5th floor which is the top. It was a very large room with 3 windows. Between the windows were "attic dormers". The door to the bathroom was a frosted glass slider. Very cool.

There was nothing that we didn't like.

Location, location, location. Just steps from the main train station in Basel, this hotel was perfect after an eleven hour flight from SFO to Zurich and then a train ride to the city. Once inside, the reception staff was very friendly, the room was spacious, and the bedding was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding, and the servers were friendly and attentive. Downstairs there's a spa with sauna and water plunge, both hot and cold. Trams to downtown were minutes away, and there was a good restaurant at the end of the block. If we ever go back to Basel, Hotel Gaia will be where we stay.

Window noise was high on 2nd floor, mostly from the flags on the building.

Gaia staff are exceptional. Really liked the Basel Pass included with reservation. Breakfast was terrific and also the cappucino! It is a lovely hotel and I would highly recommend.

The rooms on the street are quiet overall, but they really need room- darkening shades because the street lights in that area around the station are glaringly bright.

Location was good. It's next to the train station so there is noise if your room is on the street

There is a bar but you have to provide your own drinks. It says there is a bar but they don't have one.

Breakfast was good. Location is superb. Centrally located, just outside Basel main station, Tram and bus station. Room was comfortable as booked the Junior Gorgeous suite. Comfortable bedding and heating. Spacious room. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Basel city card was great to go around the city.

Breakfast was same throughout our four night stay. Should have been little more variety although the spread was quite good. From juice to fruits to other things. Liked the fresh juice extraction. Continental breakfast with hot fried potatoes.

Best location. A Coop mart is right beside the property and the tram and train stations are few meters away.

Perfect location across from train station and free quick transit to old town. Can hop on and off the buses any time for free. Wonderful breakfast. Spacious rooms with big beds.
