Located in the St. Georgen district in the south-western outskirts of Freiburg, this 4-star hotel with its own vineyard, distillery and large garden offers traditional Black Forest hospitality. The Hotel zum Schiff has been run by the same family since 1821. The classic and spacious rooms have been fully modernized and feature cable TV, broadband internet and free Wi-Fi. Wake up to a delicious breakfast buffet. In the restaurant you can enjoy a range of international cuisine and Baden specialties such as blue trout and head of veal, along with the hotel's own grown wines and distilled schnapps. Relax in the sauna and solarium of the Hotel zum Schiff. Near the hotel are the Eugen Keidel thermal baths with spa facilities. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, taking guests to all historic attractions in the center of Freiburg. Guests with cars will appreciate the easy access to the A5 motorway, and can park for free on site.

There is bar and restaurant on site so it was convenient for dinner and breakfast. There is an underground garage as well as dedicated parking across the street.

Cons -

The rooms and property are VERY outdated. Our room was dirty with hair on the bathroom floor and stains on the couch/chair. It looked like they cleaned but just did a poor job. The bed was very uncomfortable.
