    Pros +

    • Location, view, staff, hotel and room decoration
    • Beautiful view, location was in a peaceful, quiet, more residential neighborhood, friendly staff, the room felt more like a master bedroom in turn of the century mansion, rather than a hotel room. The bathroom and shower were spacious with good water pressure. Towel warming radiator style heater in the bathroom.
    • Always stay here on my way to Italy, very friendly staff! Surrooundings are beautiful to walk with my dog in the morning before getting back on the road.

    Cons -

    • Noise insulation, bed comfort
    • Not the hotel’s fault: This is just info for future guests: I was a bit confused about the busses. The hotel is situated high up on a hill, which is lovely, but until I figured out how the bus system works, I walked up and down that mountain each day—45 minute walk to town. Once I figured out the bus, it is bus 8: Obertullingen up and Grabenstrasse down. Just remember that! The restaurant in the hotel is lovely, but is also a venue for events. It is also closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. I only ate in the restaurant once because of the closures and events they were hosting. Additionally, the restaurant seemed more upscale so as a solo traveler/backpacker I felt out of place in their restaurant. This made dinner difficult when it’s quite a trip back to town whether you walk or ride the bus.
    • This time I had a single room. The bed was placed against the wall which made it a bit narrow. Also I asked for a ''glass of wine'' and they brought me a 1/4 liter which is a bit much for me and also EU10,-.But maybe this was a language thing, next time I will be more specific

The room was nice. Had we experienced a fully functioning hotel it probably would have been rather nice....

Following good reviews, we booked the hotel for a Friday night. We thought that it might have been lively and were looking forward to a good pleasant meal in the restaurant and perhaps a few bevvies from the Bar. It was not to be.We arrived at the hotel at about 1730, having driven all the way from the UK. There were no lights on in the hotel and no one at 'home' Not a single car in the car park! A note pinned on the door to ring Marco on a mobile. There was no answer. Onlyan answerphone. We left a message. Never received a reply. Another guest couple arrived (who were German) They also telephoned and eventually spoke with said Marco. Some 15 mins later this couple provided us with the key to the room. Don't know where they sourced it from! It transpired that the owners were away on holiday and the hotel was operating as a B&B with no service, but we were promised breakfast. There were no restaurants open in the area, and we then had to drive further into town to find a restaurant for dinner.Whilst the room was quite nice, there was no soap in the bathroom. Only three packet shower gel for the two of us for the whole stay. There was no minibar as advertised. Neither was there tea/coffee facilities. There was the sum total of ONE clothes hangar in the wardrobe. The hair drier in the bathroom was broken with a note to indicate that it was defective! The view was rather nice though.....Breakfast was poor. Which we had to pay extra for. Definitely not good value. Not even a single normal tea bag. Lots of herbal stuff though!WE were never contacted prior to the arrival and warned that the Hotel was only functioning on bare minimum service/facilities.I don't like leaving a poor review. You win some, you lose some. We lost big time on this one.

Quiet place near Basel city with amazing panoramic views. The sraff were so kind and the breakfast products were fresh.

The splendid view, excellent breakfast, and the staff was very friendly

The room should have been much cleane (carpets, bed linen...). There was no hand soap. There was no complementary coffee, tea, or water. Items listed as being available in the room, were in fact not there (tooth brush, disposible razor, slippers). The menu was rather limited in scope, bo kids meals, and a German resraurant witbout Jaegermeister? ?

Nice place just outside Basel. Plenty of free parking available. The views are quite nice, especially from the breakfast area.

Hotel staff did not speak English. Breakfast was not great.

Having a restaurant was convenient. Lovely views from balcony.

The prices in the restaurant. There was a Vesper menu with some more reasonably priced options, but on the main menu, 25 euros for a burger and chips seemed excessive. 26 euros for the Schweinshaxe seemed OK.

We walked in and walked out, so did the other couple who checked in at the same time.

Dirtiest hotel and roomI've ever seen. We walked in and walked out, so did the other couple who checked in at the same time. Didn't stay here and never would. Hair in the shower, sheets, bathroom, floors were filthy, and common space a disaster. Don't believe the rating or most recent reviews, look closely at all reviews and you will see things that would make you sick. As we left were told we would get a refund through booking but when the hotel was contacted they lied and refused to issue a refund. Booking can and should review this place and flag them as the crooked and disgusting establishment that it is. RUN RUN RUN as fast as you can away from this bates motel.
