Terrible Experience – No Support During Floods & Unauthorised Charges - No Invoices Ever Shared

During severe flooding near Kandy in Nov, the hotel provided no safety advice, no assistance, and no alternative accommodation, even after informing me that I could not return to the property. The general manager ignored all my messages during this time.Afterward, the hotel charged my credit card without authorization, billed me for the full stay - factually I only stayed 2 out of 4 booked nights and extras, and has ignored all (5!) my requests for invoices despite multiple emails and messages directly with General Manager and common email.I filed a formal complaint with the hotel, but the so-called “investigation” was one-sided, without considering any of the information I provided. The hotel claimed that it was “my decision” to leave early, but they failed to answer the obvious question: What was I supposed to do when they told me I could not return to the property during the floods? Stay on the streets? There was absolutely no professional responsibility, and no advanced notice that the hotel may be heavily impacted by weather. I cannot recommend this hotel at all. Beautiful location doesn't make up for such critical irresponsible conduct led by General Manager.

The room is clean and bed is comfortable

The staff was not cooperative .. one staff even opened the door in my room without knocking while I was changing ! Honestly the staff ate the worst . I only stayed one night as I have booked my holiday in the stunning Santani resort however all flights with 4 hrs road trip to kandy let me to arrive at 8pm so wanted to go a day earlier so I don’t lose a day in Santani.

This property is truly amazing! The entire estate was gorgeous, food delicious, the rooms were beautiful and had every amenity needed. The staff was 10/10 and were available for anything we could have needed.

The staff are just incredible, Manjula and Navod took such great care of us. The manager is so warm and welcoming, too.The location is amazing. It’s close enough to Kandy or other attractions but far enough to feel like you’re in the middle of nature and enjoying peace and quiet. Our hike with Aju was wonderful, he is so knowledgable. Food was amazing! Some of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka - the pastries and fresh bread we had were exceptional. Also the room we stayed in was gorgeous (stable suite) - lovely decor, fittings to a high spec, and the bed & linen was so comfy.

Honestly, everything was perfect. We can’t fault it.

This is an amazing property, oozing with character and history. The rooms in the main house are huge, well appointed, and super comfortable. The common areas are appealing and relaxing. Meals are wonderful. The grounds are large and fun to wander around. The views are stunning, even at night, thanks to the nearby temple with its lights. No one was using the pool, as it was a little cool most of the time, but it looked nice. One day I walked to the tea museum and back -- about 40 minutes each way. It's a lot of fun to be up in the mountains above Kandy.

The view was beautiful. Staff was wonderful and welcoming. The actual building was gorgeous - great decor.

The dinners. The food was very sub par. Very disappointed. Especially since you are kind of stuck there. It was my birthday and was really looking forward to a special meal. Have eaten better street food. For the amount we paid - felt like the meals should be outstanding. They also ran out of beer! (There is also a gun club - you could hear the guns go off which kind of ruined the tranquil nature of the place)

The staff and service were below par. Not attentive. Slow. Disinterested The hotel is marketed as a luxurious experience with top-tier butler service and exceptional dining, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. Prior to this, we had just stayed at a farm stay resort that was superb, so our expectations were high. While the property itself may exude elegance, the butler service lacked attentiveness, and the level of personalized care wasn’t as refined as advertised. Additionally, the food, which was supposed to be a highlight, was underwhelming. For the price and the promise of a high-end experience, I expected more attention to detail. It’s a decent stay, but not quite the ultra-luxurious experience it claims to be

Everything was excellent!Very beautiful estate, beautiful gardens, excellent service, very good food!Our room was very big, nicely decorated, amenities and bed sheets of high quality. One of the best places we have ever stayed!

Incredible boutique hotel experience. Located very high up in a unique private setting on its own estate, offering the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of Kandy town. The Colonial style building has so much character and the staff were super attentive and helpful.

Hard to find any faults with this place. Only minor thing was to avoid the typical western breakfasts as they haven’t quite mastered that yet, as most of Sri Lanka, however there are many other much better food options available.

The quality of the bungalow and the service of the butlers was simply amazing. The food quality and quantity was also unbelievable.

We had a couple of bugs/cockroaches in our room.

His dedication and genuine care made our stay even more enjoyable. Upul went out of his way to ensure that every aspect of my visit was perfect, from arranging special requests. His warmth and professionalism truly set the standard for hospitality.The culinary experience at W15 Hanthana is another reason this hotel stands out. The food was absolutely delicious, with a menu that expertly combines local flavors. Every meal was a culinary delight, prepared with the finest ingredients and presented beautifully. In summary, W15 Hanthana is a paradise for those seeking luxury, comfort, and a deep connection with nature. The breathtaking views, exceptional staff and delectable food make it a destination I wholeheartedly recommend.

Ambiance and the location, delicious food, friendly staff ,everything was perfect ?

W15 Hanthana Estate is Paradise! The rooms, the furniture, the decoration, the details, the view etc. are so wonderful! But most of all we love the service from the staff, who are real gentlemen: Seriff, Hantha, Manjulla, Niroshan. Sheriff informed us about upgrade of our room. It was so nice to inform us about upgrade room on my birthday! he was also so good explaining about dishes for dinner and lunch. Hantha gave my husband unique experience (he teaches my husband to eat traditional sri—lanka dish by hand), my husband asked him. Hantha was very good and delicate teacher. We also asked him a lot of questions about the Estate and he told us very interesting history about Estate. Niroshan brought us a book with historical photoes of building process of the Estate. Manjulla is a good coctail mixer, he very attentively listened our preferences and made us super cocktails. We spent wonderful days with those unique gentelmen. Bless them God. We will come back

Highly enjoyable place, friendly staff, warm and homely atmosphere, comfortable mattresses, good location (just 20 min drive away from Kandy city), lovely views, beautifully designed interior of the rooms and lobby

The choice of food is limited, that has probably been the only small disadvantage during the whole stay, but I guess that’s the common issue with all the boutique hotels

The main mansion is situated high up in the tea estates so you benefit from fantastic views! Very newly renovated with a keen attention to detail. Rooms are gorgeous.

My only negative comment is that on arrival for dinner we weren't offered a wine list or drinks menu, we were only asked for our food order. We didn't want to drink anyways but surprised we weren't offered the drinks menu or asked whether we wanted drinks.

EVERYTHING!!! We felt like we were in heaven after a long drive from the airport. Staff welcomed us with a welcome drink and snack. They had our beautiful room ready. The room itself was absolutely beautiful. The bed slept so nice and cushions were just right! We had the full board options and we enjoyed an ice cold wine (reasonably priced) on the most beautiful terrace overlooking amazing views of the mountain range and the tea plantations. In the far distance you can also see a temple. I did not make use of the pool but if you have time, this is a stunning place to unwind. The food was OUTSTANDING! And the staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make our stay SO special. The manager Sidath and his staff is next level! With a wealth of knowledge of the hospitality industry he had the midis touch. Even arranged a very special dinner on the deck area. Chamila was a wonderful waiter and he made us feel so welcomed. He also has great wine knowledge. Nothing was too much for this team! We had a lovely drive through the plantation with the excursion team and what a great experience this was! We will be back for sure!!

From the beginning of the stay the hotel should educate the guests of what is included and not included in the price of the room. There was a slight confusions with drinks (which ones included vs which ones not) and activities. However, all was sorted out very well. Thank you

Hantana staff were absolutely incredible. They helped to oprganise surprise for my husband. They were attentive to all requests and overexceeded all exoectations.

Visiting from the USA and had a phenomenal experience! I would highly recommend this particular property. The service, thoughtful architectural design, and exemplary amenities make this an ideal choice while in Sri Lanka.
