Welcoming staff with a great view

You should make some improvment for the food

1 night stay. Great hotel. Had evening meal and breakfast and fantastic variety with good quality

Everything , the location, the food, the nice music , beautiful rooms and the monkeys in the morning , very close to the temple

No alternative to cow milk

The pool area was disappointing, the sun beds was very dirty and broken , the wooden slats sun beds were so uncomfortable… (need to buy cushions )for the price we paid you can get a lot better, the staff around the pool unhelpful, tried ordering food -half off the menu they didn’t have , coffee machine broken, pool attendant would not help with sun beds …. Then come 3,pm it seemed like all the locals use the pool, couldn’t use the toilet as packed with locals getting changed….. the only hotel in Sri Lanka which didn’t meet our expectations..

The swimmingpool and restaurant area are amazing. Walking distance to temple of Buddha’s tooth.

Rooms very outdated. View is nice but not for all the rooms. Had to change room for that. Restaurant took one hour to make rice and a sandwich.

No bathrobes. Room service rice and curry as disappointing. Tv was tricky to use. It wasn’t a smart tv so very limited.

I write this review to inform others not to book this property. This hotel is absolutely not worth money. The room I stayed was supposed to be the best room available in the hotel. However I have not stayed in a worse room than this ever. The rooms had seepage. There was constant drainage smell emanating from the AC vents. After complaining about this the staff changed the room however the experience was even worse. This hotel charges 5 star rates for 2 star service. Even the breakfast was repeated for the two days we stayed. Absolutely horrible experience.

Nice rooms and good breakfast

Carpets in the room.

Greeted warmly by staff, with a cool drink and engaging smile. The views of the lake were spectacular, room was large with balcony and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was out of this world, so much choice and you could get a container to take some for lunch. Amazing infinity pool with helpful lifeguard and staff. Looked after, extremely attentive as was unwell and kept an eye on me.

The hotel looks bit old now

We stayed for 2 nights on our way to Ella. On arrival we were upgraded to the Royal Pavillion which was brilliant. We had really nice size rooms with a fantastic view over Kandy. It is situated just a few minutes walk from Kandy lake and the walk was a little steep, but very short and perfectly manageable, otherwise there are plenty of tuktuks. The breakfast was a buffet style and there was plenty of choice. We ate here in the evening and there was a choice of buffet or a la carte. The attendant at the pool was so polite and helpful, as were all the staff in the hotel. They arranged for tuktuks on our departure to the station, which was a short drive away. Nothing was too much trouble.

Beautiful views across Kandy right next the forest, amazing swimming pool that never seemed to busy. Super friendly staff and really tasty food - highly recommend breakfast and dinner buffet. Room was beautiful and huge!

Hotel Thilanka provided an outstanding service during our stay there. They made sure to give us interconnected rooms and the GM Mr. Tim Paldano and his staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything to make our stay comfortable. When we had to host a family dinner, Tim made arrangements to have a beautiful setting in the garden to provide the right ambience for the dinner. The complementary fruit platters and snacks was much appreciated. We will definitely stay again at Thilanka and a big thank you to Tim Paldano and the entire staff for making our stay memorable.

Great view of Kandy hillside and fab pool. Bellboy Lakmal (and his team) were very friendly and helpful too.

Bathrooms could do with an update and no family rooms (we had 2 adjacent rooms which is not as convenient with young family). Could do with pool towel cards rather than shouting at guests trying to take a pool towel back to room. Also would be nice if the pool bar staff did table / lounger service during the day.

The fitness room was quite worn down and not very clean. Some towels and liquid to clean after use would be nice. And a weight bench

This was a fabulous hotel, the food was excellent and the 40m pool overlooking Kandy was really lovely. Walking distance of the temples and the culture dance shiws too made it a great choice

Be careful of the monkeys, don't think they are cute, you need to close the balcony. But it's the same everywhere, it's just life.

Beautiful views from the rooms, pool, restaurants. The room was spacious and had great views on the mountains and town. Easy for us to walk to town and to the tooth temple from the hotel. Staff were really nice and welcoming. Breakfast was really good, lots of options and value.

Only mark down really was the gym, it was lacking to say the least.

Very nice big hotel with an amazing view and great breakfast, big room with a very comfortable bed and balcony.
