About

This hotel is located in the center of Brest a 5-minute walk from the train station. It offers rooms with attached bathroom, a restaurant and a 24-hour reception desk. Rooms at Hotel Vauban are equipped with a telephone and flat-screen TV. The guest rooms are accessible by elevator. Vauban’s restaurant serves traditional French cuisine and regional dishes from tuesday to saturday. The hotel has its own concert hall in the basement of the property. Hotel Vauban is 0.6 mi from Brest’s historic Recouvrance neighborhood. Liberty Place and Siam Street are within walking distance. Public parking is available nearby for an extra charge. • Perfect location, excellent value for money, very friendly staff who speak English, very clean, very comfortable beds, good food in the restaurant also!
    • Great central location.

    Cons -

    • Soundproofing in the rooms wasn't great, but wasn't terrible either. That's only a minor issue though, everything else was excellent.
    • Room was very small. Fine for 1 night but tight for a longer stay.
    • Traffic and parking difficult due to infrastructure project in Brest.Hotel room decor! OK if you’re Scottish!

It's a simple hotel with old-fashioned decor, but it has everything you'd expect from a 3 star. The room was spacious and clean and quite comfortable.

The only thing I didn't like was the noisy cleaners. One of the ladies was very loud on the phone and very abrupt with her cars so it was banging on the walls and doors. The walls are thin alredy, so that didn't help.

    authentique, central, personnel aimable,

    rien

The Vauban cabaret which is located in the basement of the hotel, just need to take the elevator and cross the bar to get there.

Checkout at 11am, too early for those who partied at the cabaret.

It's a nice place, extremely well located . The hotel has a quaint style that we loved, but it comes with its drawbacks. The rooms for one person are a bit small, but one we had for a couple was better. Also, don't expect the card key, it's still the good old iron key here, and that's cool !

We stayed while the whole downtown area is undergoing road works. A tramway line is being installed, so walking around the hotel was not extremely pleasant. However, there was no sound coming from the construction site to our room.

Stylish old-school interior. Great breakfast and helpful staff!

The Hotel and our room were clean. The location was fantastic for people who'd be touring Brest on their feet like we were.

The building is very old and as a result the floor boards in our room were extremely loud and creaky when walked across. If you travel with someone it will be completely impossible to sneak to the bathroom without waking the other person up. The shower head post was broken, so when you set the height for your shower it very well might slide or fall back down to the lowest height. Also the shower door is poorly designed, making accidental flooding onto the bathroom floor very easy. There was no water boiling equipment in the room for making tea or coffee, and no small refrigerator. There is a radiator for wintertime but no air conditioning. The worst part is while we were leaving we had to take the stairs because a family of three were stuck in the only, very small elevator... it literally malfunctioned and got stuck between floors with the family stuck in it. At least the seem to have gotten the family out of there quickly and the elevator was 'functioning' again that same day, but we would never trust it again.

The staff were so helpful, the rooms were spotless. Anything we asked for as looked after immediately .

    It is a bit dated

Great location Good and friendly staff

Street parking onlyThe shower in the bathroom could use some renovation (broken shower head and mold)

The location was central The staff were very helpful and friendly The room was a very good size I would recommend the Vauban to anyone visiting Brest in France

The only thing I can complain about is that the floor of the shower was very slippery it needs a mat

The location is excellent, the room itself was generously sized and clean. It was quiet but the whole hotel was quiet. There was a live music event that night but I think the staff were careful to allocate us a room as far away as possible so it was no problem. This is what you'd think of for a French hotel circa 1965 - cage lift, bell on reception, real key, bistro atmosphere and red velvet.

It is a little dated in the facilities but in effect it's got a real retro charm and they are playing on that. Breakfast was ok not amazing and service to get more items not great.

We stayed one night and everything was fine. The room is really comfortable, nice (beautiful white furniture) and calm. Excellent location at the center of Brest.

    Friendly staff, nice decor

    air conditioning/ ventilation

The decor, the friendly staff, the brilliant night’s sleep despite the music festival outside.

    7CharlesPosted on: 1-9-2023

Excellent location, bed a bit soft. Decor clean but outdated

Reception upon arrival not particularly friendly. Plus I had specified a room with sea and city view. The room they put us in had neither. They finally moved us to a room with those criteria, but not graciously.
