nice towels. I only stayed here for quick access to motorway and drive to Auckland airport

the property is extremely run down and lacks basic comforts. The smoking area is enclosed outdoor area covered in moss and my son had a bad slip on surface and wrenched his knee

Didn't have breakfast

No toaster in room. One chair for two people. No sink to wash dishes. TV we could only one channel.

Just a tad disappointed that 2 of the rooms we had , had brown water in the taps so we had to use one of the room showers that my mum had booked. The customer service and comfyness was amazing though.

No tv channels,no cooking facilities ,uncomfortable beds,broken toilet seat,fridge ddnt run proply

Space. I stayed by myself sat/SundayOnly negative fridge was not workingI will like to come again with my family

Nothing really except the manager seemed friendly

Carpet stained not vacuumed, all surfaces hadn't been cleaned. The toilet seat was broke and had no lid. I had to clean the microwave, fridge, kettle before using and cleaned the hand basin. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned either.

We love staying here. The staff are really cool. Being right in town was a bonus. We will stay here anytime. We look forward to our next stay

Needs proper airconditioning or more windows.

The bartender wasn’t the best customer service at all when your paying $10-12 a drink at least have ice available for your customers in future don’t be lazy young man

Essex Arms is located in the CBD. A convenient location. Clean.

Lots of street noise. There was only one small window high up. Once a grand old lady the place is looking tired now.

I wasnt there. I didnt arrive. There was nothing to like.

Booking was never confirmed. No one got back to me. No one answered the phone when i rang. Couldnt talk to anyone. Couldnt communicate with anyone. Waste my time and energy. I didnt stay there because i couldnt communicate with anyone. I left phone messages they had no courtesy to call me back. Do staff even exist? Does the business even exist?

Apart from no sir con and armchairs/couch our room was very comfortable. Thank u?

Would have been nice to have a couch or arm chairs in room and an air con. However, the fan in the room did do some justice

economical and good parking and clean

. WiFi didn't work on arrival but did next day. pretty worn out kind of place in a worn out town

The price, the lovely staff, the room wasn't flash but was reasonably neat and tidy

The room and hallway need a descent vacuum. Windows and glass on the doors could do with a wipe down. The exterior could do with a tidy up and make over.

Lots of comfortable single beds in the family room, good shower and lots of room

The passage way carpets need repairing but not a biggie.

turned up late staff at bar helped me out with no issues at all very friendly

the room needed a stove top. even just a plug in element..

The rooms are simple and basic, but it has everything that you need for a nice, comfortable stay. Value and location wise it cannot be beaten.

The rooms could definitely use an update.

To be honest the only thing that accompanied our needs was the location of being close-by for our king Tuheitia’s tangi ?

Didnt feel comfortable at all making my kids stay as the feeling in the place felt dead !! ?restaurant closed !!! Was like being in a hospital to be honest

It suited us for our short stay. We only missed having a toaster to use. It was close to Ngaruawahia and were lucky to have found this place given there were thousands of people attending King Tuheitia's funeral. Thank you for your service and accommodating us.

A toaster would've been great for late night snack.

I liked the staff & the space in the room & bathroom.

I didn't like the bed, the smell in the motel it smelt mouldy & old. The shower took ages before hot water filtered through, my fridge stunk like old milk. And the restaurant was closed.
