The Dawson Motel

Location, sea view, close to coastal walkway, lovely friendly staff.

No. Was perfect.

Close to the ocean and downtown

lots of street noise

How spacious the room was and clean and tidy, would definitely stay again the staff were lovely and welcoming. Thank yous

Great location close to centre, restaurants and the coastal walkway. The room was spacious with quality fittings. The hosts were really helpful & friendly & we would recommend this as a great place to stay.

Nice friendly staff clean and close to town

Not a great deal of room and looks a bit dated

Beautiful updated unit , clean, knowledgeable hosts, will definitely recommend to people we know.

Nicer than expected and was a very large space. loved the bathroom and the spa like tub it had. Location was close to many things.

Personal preference but TV was only sky. Not smart TV but not a big deal just a Personal preference

The room was clean and modern and had everything we needed. The host at reception was very friendly, and there was ample free parking available in the hotel's lot. The location is not far from downtown but quiet enough. Would book again without hesitation.

Nothing to complain about.

Thankful for accommodation. Lovely & clean. Everything was available if needed.

Unfortunately I'd asked for 2 beds & that was not done. I understand it was a late & last booking. So..... No sleep....

Very clean and well kept. A nice welcome

Some traffic noise

Lovely motel, clean and comfortable and lovely coffee for breakfast. Made to feel very welcome from registration through to checking out. Will stay there again.

This is so petty, but the little rubbish bin foot peddle didn't work, annoying, but in the big scheme of things the room was great.

Lovely room, the shower was outstanding and heaps of parking

Clean motel room with enough provided for a comfortable stay. Powerful hot shower. Manager very friendly and helpful.

Our third stay and always very clean and comfortable with excellent friendly host.

Great location. Really clean and comfortable room. Perfect for our group (couple + 2 teenagers). The free bikes were a real bonus. Made exploring the coastal walkway super easy.

Location

It doesn’t cater for big families… we had to get 2 rooms which puts the cost up…

It was clean and all essential kitchen equipment was provided (toaster, kettle, french press). Very comfortable and a lovely bath

Very friendly staff, great location, very clean and comfortable. Would stay again in a heart beat. Thank you.

Clean room, good location, friendly helpful staff.

The bed is as uncomfortable had a bad sleep.

Friendly staff giving good tips on what to do in New PlymouthWell cleanedGood location. Not center center but right next to it putting everything into a good walking distanceQuiet roomsWould stay again

Only a few minor things to mention.Shower head could use some descalingYou have to make sure the shower door leans slightly inwards otherwise water may pass out of the shower below itThe operating menu of the washing mashine (laundry) is really weird. You'll get the hang of it eventually but when the time comes to replace it I'd recommend a different model that also shows actual water temperaturesFair rating is probably an 8.5Note: Throughout the New Plymouth area the tab water has a very muddy/moldy taste to it. That's not hotel specific so it doesn't impact the rating but just so you're aware.
