Railway Hotel/Motel Hokitika

Bed was comfortable and shower was new

Toilet seat was loose

Despite the appearance of it all the place was very comfortable and was clean. Would stay there again. Its right in the middle of town, which for the price you can't beat.

Only thing i can think of is that a sign saying it takes a good 2-5 mins for the hot water to come through in the shower :)

Location, free parking and walking distance to restaurant and the beach

Toilet very basic, not a place to put the toiletries

This motel is located behind the hotel. Central Hokitika next to laundromat. Bed was comfortable

It smelt like strong cleaning product. Price was a bit dear for what it was. Electrics were interesting.

Handy location, the supermarket is only a short walk away to buy your bottled water to fill the electric jug. There was a microwave oven in the room, whereas now it seems that many motels provide no cooking appliances above a jug and toaster.

When trying to use the TV, the TV remote either had flat batteries or was simply hardly functioning meaning a bad result. A staff member tried to help but it was still a problem to use.The unit did not show information showing how we were to deal with the crockery etc. after use, but did provide a Tea Towel, hence we left behind us used dishes not cleaned.

This review is based on my brothers visit!Father and son duo , staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and had a lovely scent , great water pressure in the shower the bed was very conformable , tv and Netflix for kids which was a added bonus.

Did not have a sink in the kitchen area but that was okay we made it work.

The bed was comfortable

Was a bit like staying in a prison cell, bathroom was awful

Room was comfortable, and quiet, little to no noise from adjoining rooms.

Stayed 2 nights, and the room wasn't serviced. No fresh towel, etc.. Told to park outside the room. Another guest parked their truck blocking the driveway, and it was us who was asked to move their vechile.

The glass in the bathroom was cute with the boats in the window

Cracked coffee mug, mouldy curtains, mouldy shower and staff that could not be bothered

The apartment was clean and tidy, the staff were really lovely and helpful, you could park right outside, a great guide for the local area inside and there was also a room with a washer and dryer which you could use for 2 dollars each.

We only stayed there for 2 nights, but on the second night, we realised our door was not locking properly, we didn't know if this had been the case for the whole stay. After contacting the motel, a staff member came out to check it, we figured out it would lock sometimes; it had to be locked and shut a specific way as the latch wasn't catching. This was not an ideal situation, and it didn't feel like the motel acknowledged this inconvenience with no apology or compensation.There was also no sink within the kitchenette, and we had to wash up in the laundry room. The electric heater provided in the room didn't work and sparked at as when trying to turn it on, and the WiFi was non-existent.

All good.. fairly old and a bit worn but for the price ok value. Didn’t have Sky TV.

Unit dirty, dust on bedside cabinets, dead moths and bits of paper on floor, no toilet paper when we got there, had to go into the hotel to ask for some, the lady behind bar was very nice and went and got us some,

Dislike... the TV hardly worked, always freezing and disconnecting. There was no spoons, or coffee cups. No rubbish bin in the bathroom.

The bed was comfortable and the room was a reasonable size. There was parking out front of the motel room.

There was no soap or anything in the bathrooms and no milk in the fridge. There was a lack of plugs in the room. The shower pressure was terrible. It wasn't super clear from the advertisement it was associated with a pub

Good value for money stopover. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a good size. The TV worked well and we watched a movie. It's an older place but it was fine. The curtains had a wee bit of mildew but otherwise it was OK.

Good basic motel- clean and convenient.

Clean, easy walk to town and beach. What more could you want?

Didnt have breakfast. Never knew it was an option.

Jug was burntout. Bed was uncomfortable.

The room was very run down and the amount of disinfectant odor was overwhelming. Could not spend any amount of time in the room.

Not much,pub was close

No sink to wash stuff,no gear to wipe down,far too expensive for what it was,no servicing for more than 1 night

The unit was spacious and comfortable. WiFi was a little erratic as was the TV but that might be beyond the management control.
