    Pros +

    • Location and lobby. Bathrooms have been updated
    • The Grand Lobby and the two lady staff who have been there over 25 years were quite nice. However, when we asked the gentleman at the desk in the evening, about where to eat, he gave us 1 choice. a Brasserie. This was the last night of our holiday and we wanted something memorable. It didn't' "read the room" We didn't want to eat, we wanted to dine. We found our own place on line and didn't feel that this man was happy to help. I guess that is the way the staff feel after years of complaints from customers.
    • You are going back to the old days of Vichy when you step inside! Wonderful classic with chandeliers and beautiful stairways! The staff were always Amazing! So very friendly and helpful too! My room and bathroom were very big in size! Plenty of room for stretching out and relaxing! The balcony was huge with old window doors to access! Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of items! Nice atmosphere for breakfast too! You can't beat this location! Everything within a 5 minute walk! Allier River, Parks, Shopping, Restaurants and Entertainment! My stay was very memorable! Thanks! ???

    Cons -

    • It is very tired notwithstanding a lovely exterior and an exceptional location. Breakfast is mediocre to poor. There was no safe in the room - currently a requisite for a hotel and straighforward to acquire
    • The whole building has not been kept up and looks awful. It had a grand era I am sure but they have not invested in this property in many many years. The pillows were like pancakes, no coffee in the room, no fridge, the electrical outlets seem to be original., The dining room is wired with extension cords everywhere. This tells me that the hotel has not kept up with electrical upgrades. Considering there was a major fire in the building next door, they should take that more seriously. The room was old, the carpet has been there for years, the bedspread was flimsy with an old blanket in the room. Everything was old and unpleasing. Having been in the hospitality sector for over 30 years, this hotel should be closed. They have too much work to be done with electrical, painting, cracked windows, dining room, more and more. This building looks grand on the outside and probably had a marvelous life but the lack of attention has makes brought this to the end.
    • Very tired hotel. Not very clean. Air-conditioning did not work. Whole place needs work. Staff also seemed rather tired. Wifi also did not work.

Location and old world charm of the hotel and surroundings

bad timing by us to be there when major noisy buidling works are taking place

    8StefanoPosted on: 10-4-2024

Wonderful old style grand hotel, full of charm in the centre of Vichy

    4ClairePosted on: 9-26-2024

It is in a good location and has character. The bed is comfortable, the room and bathroom are spacious.

My room had an iron burn mark on the carpet, stains on the carpet and peeling paint on the skirting board - a hotel which is most definitely in need of refurbishment! The hotel restaurant also had a waitress who only spoke French. I'm not sure how touristy Vichy is, but my basic French was not understand, even when asking for the bill.

Really big room with loads of space albeit last decorated in probably the 1960's / early 70s

Minimal plug sockets to charge anything - quite a dark room and just felt really dated - a hotel and a room from a long ago era

    9SimonPosted on: 8-20-2024

Faded grandeur. Could feel the history. The pool looked good and we would have used if the weather was warmer! In

    10KarenPosted on: 8-16-2024

This hotel surprised us. It used to be one of the mansions of Vichy so the rooms were big and luxurious. It was right opposite the Opera House and the walkway to the spa and to the riverside park.

We had a good breakfast, the only disappointment was that we went thru fabulous light glamorous rooms all set up for meals to a horrid, small room at the back of the hotel with a terrible decor and even worse carpet to have breakfast….. why?

    9EdwardPosted on: 7-11-2024

Location, staff and history of the hotel were excellent.

Rooms would benefit from air-conditioning during the summer months.Very loud klaxons and fireworks used by local council between 20.30 and 22.30 to scare birds from the local park areas.

    8StephenPosted on: 6-24-2024

Clean, comfortable and well- located hotel. We had a room on the 6th floor with a view south over the river. Staff were very helpful.

    9SergioPosted on: 6-21-2024

Very large room, large bathroom beautiful view

Too noisy in the morning because of the many works in progress.

    8JohnPosted on: 6-6-2024

A lovely place with an old-fashioned vibe. We had a large and comfortable room, with a big bathroom. It is however a little bit frayed at the edges; if you are looking for a modern chrome and glass style this is not the place for you…

    6ElenaPosted on: 2-13-2024

    WIFI good and breakfast acceptable.

The hotel is to old and need some renovation.

    10PeterPosted on: 2-7-2024

Breakfast was excellent, we loved the slightly faded elegance of the hotel, full of atmosphere, and the location was excellent.

Perhaps an extra armchair in the bedroom

    9FrancoisPosted on: 1-28-2024

Great location next to the Opera, old Palace hotel that has kept an old fashioned charm, nice architecture. Rooms are very big, the bar is very cosy, the restaurant looks nice although I did not eat there. Staff at the reception is very nice and helpful.

The bath room would need to be slightly upgraded, but is on par with the hotel style

Huge comfortable room - perfect temperature. Great location.

No tea / coffee tray in room
