Excellent location and very friendly staff. A great stop-over mid way through France which we have used several times.

Central location …overnight stay enroute to Calais.Refurbed room,compact ,well thought out.New en-suite.Lovely bed linen.Needed on site parking due to a loaded vehicle & had two small dogs in tow…so worked out perfectly.

No air conditioning but I’m choosy & struggle with heat!Had window ajar,little noise as we were at the back of hotel so no real issue.

Location, really comfortable bed, you could open the windows wide and the light switches were authentic ?

If you are coming to Saintes for the history, this hotel is fantastically located: within walking distance of just about everything: the Charente River, the Arch of Germanicus, the Abbey of the Ladies, the cathedral, the archaeological museum, and the Roman Arènes. It really does not get much better than that. They also welcome dogs (a big plus) and have two parking spots; we were lucky to get one.The room itself? Let us say it was more functional than charming. The décor follows that mass-produced, vaguely shabby-chic style: stars and inspirational phrases stuck to the walls, and two different wallpapers competing for attention. Clean, yes, but not quite the immaculate experience some other reviewers have described. There was a little mould on the ceiling above the bath, and the room was not well aired: condensation formed on the window, leaving the atmosphere slightly damp.As for the view: our window looked out onto a small alley with rubbish bins. Not exactly picturesque. When we enquired about another room, we were told that all rooms faced walls (not entirely true), and were advised by the receptionist to simply avoid looking out of the window and go for a walk instead. French humour? Tough love? Plain impoliteness? We are still not sure. In any case, the screens on the window did not open, so there was no natural light; rather like sleeping in a dungeon with a comfortable bed.That said, the bed was very good, and breakfast was enjoyable, with a tasty spread (though no salad or fruit). If you do stay, try to get a room facing the inner courtyard; those seemed far more pleasant than ours.A few practical notes: the reception is only open until 9 pm, so plan your arrival accordingly. The price on Booking.com stated €80, but with breakfast, the dog, and parking, we paid €134. City tax was included. Soundproofing is limited: you will hear your upstairs and next-door neighbours just fine.

The hotel is extremely well located, close to the beautiful cathedral and within easy walking distance of the other interesting sights in Saintes. The hotel also provided excellent, secure overnight parking facilities at a fairly reasonable rate.

The room was small but cozy and had everything we needed, even a minibar/fridge. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is close to everything in town.

Spotless, new , so central and lots of local on road parking for the van that wouldn't as expected fit in the car park. Didn't have breakfast. Walkable to everything. Amazing value for money. Little fridge very useful, kettle for us anglais .

Comfortable room, nice bathroom good location, secure garage.

Breakfast was very expensive for what it was.Staff not particularly helpful or friendly.Upon arrival I spoke French to the receptionist but she responded very rapidly making it very hard to understand what she was saying.She gave us the key and said "second floor", but no directions as to how to get there until I asked.The breakfast waitress didn't even acknowledge us let alone engage in conversation.

Great location, right in the centre of Saintes. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom had a walk-in shower and the bed was very comfortable. Garage parking was very convenient. The breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Room was very tired in need of decoration. Stains on carpet. We’re in room above restaurant, last stay so much nicer across the court yard. Hurt my foot twice on the small step into the bathroom.
