- The staff at the Protea made the trip for me. Bakang especially was outstanding. He made check in easy and then proceeded to set up my excursions. The whole staff took care for my trip.

- The facility is rundown and dated. The floor is ripping apart in our 2 rooms. The carpet in the hallway are worn out. The smokers around the pool. More like a motel and not hotel.

Our overnight stay on the way to Kruger National Park was a great pit stop! The accommodation was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We appreciated the convenient location, which allowed us to rest and refuel before continuing our journey. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and we enjoyed a hearty meal to recharge. This was exactly what we needed after a long drive – a chance to relax and get a good night's sleep. If you're passing through and need a place to break up your journey to Kruger, this is a solid option. We'll definitely consider it again for future trips!
The price was outstanding for the value. Nice restaurant on the premises for dinner and breakfast. Superb food. A gas station is next door and convenient. The staff was particularly friendly. Parking was great and next to the room.
A bit difficult to find the first time. It needs some signs added to the outside. No stores or eating facilities nearby. A place that requires a car.
Staff was amazing. Location is great. Hotel is clean and really worth it. Will definitely stay there again if we travel to Mbombela another time.
The service was impeccable. The receptionist went above and beyond. The bed was comfy and the linens were top class. The restaurant staff were attentive but not overly so. Checking out was easy and smooth. Very comfy stay, wish it had been longer.

It can not be regarded as a 4-star hotel. 2 star rating at best. The tourism grading council should review this. It has become a very basic hotel offering. Service, comfort and amenities are basic.
Staff were friendly and pleasant
Lighting in room not goodMenu was very limited
the standard of food has dropped compared to other proteas i have been to.
i wish they could have the same as the one i had in Cape town family room with different bedrooms
I slept at Protea hotel Nelspruit Terrible service for a 4 Star Hotel most of the nights I was not able to sleep was allocated room 427 .the noise was unbearable I called the reception and guest relations they did nothing. They called security who did nothing too .he told me ad outside Aircon making noise meaning I am expected to sleep like that for the nights I spend Breakfast we were treated badly by the chefs buffet we got told we cannot get Croissants but we saw workers and other guests feeding themselves I just kept quiet and I told my children we must leave. The horrible thing was the noise even the Air one not working toilet flushing was an issue in my my room For a 4 star hotel I had a terrible service dissapointed and guests be aware when booking hotels like thus
Maintenance poir
Poor service from the receptionist. No customer focus and I think he tried to extort us for a room
We arrived around 11 pm to check in. The staff (Velly) looked disinterested in assisting us. He told us he couldn't access the booking because his system was down (Home Affairs, anyone?). After opening files and books, checking only, he knew that we got impatient and wanted to sleep, so he said we can pay cash, but at a different (higher) rate. He was non-bothered, didn't think we travelled a long way, and it was too late and we were tired, only had us as guests checking in but still made the experience horrible. The room he gave us was next to a storage room that had chairs and desks on top of other desks.
Excellent client service and the room was super clean breakfast was tops compliments to the chefs
Just more channels on the television for kids
Location was excellent for our purpose. Staff is efficient and attentive.Rooms are in need of a refresh. (paint, flooring, USB ports, etc)Breakfast food was not fresh.
I like the receptionist he was helpful, the room supper clean ,staff so smiling and the breakfast was extremely good
We have to swim until 8 ,at least you should make it 10
Passable
Our 4 day stay. They kitchen was not well equipped with food. When asked for food off the menu, they were out of stock for many things. For Eg, ran out of rolls for burgers. Ran out of ice cream.
Everything at the property was great to be honest
I didn’t like the fact that the staff assumed we spoke seswati or isizulu, the chef at the breakfast station ignored my child and another child when they were in line for eggs because they didn’t respond when she spoke to them in her language but they don’t understand her, she proceeded to assist other people in the line and I intervened stating if you see them stare at you why not speak English Atleast,
I liked the breakfast, the rooms, the pool and the rooms where clean no ants and no cockroaches. Great receptionist very patient young lady.
There was a leak in the shower 319 when you open the shower, there was no foam bath. The dinner was not value for money, should have more variety, more delicious food, more main course and dessert. These are minor things that you can work on
The pool was well positioned and it was big enough for us and the kids. It is at the center of Mbombela which makes travelling a lot easier
I had to produce my drivers license to the security every time I entered the gate.
Hotel was located close to a shopping centre which was nice.Room has a work table which is nice fir business traveller's.Good breakfast - great coffee!
Bathrooms are outdated. Not enough light in the room but functional.Could have been more mod!
