    • Nice location, good pool.
    • The hotel is lovely and the building is amazing. Our suite was also lovely and very clean. The balcony had a lovely view over the Atlantic. The hotel is having building work done but this didn’t impact on our stay in fact having seen the pictures of what the work will look like with new pool, the finished article will look truly amazing. The pools as they are are lovely and the grounds are very well kept. The breakfast was ok and as expected for all inclusive. We didn’t opt for mall inclusive dinner so I’m not sure what that was like as we perfected the option of eating other places locally. The location is great but it does need a car to get to ideally.
    • The view from both of our rooms was fantastic. The entire staff was nice and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was large and extensive. At dinner there was a huge buffet, different dishes every evening. There were also many dishes for vegans and vegetarians, which were very tasty. The gardens and pool were super tidy and well maintained

    Cons -

    • At the checkout they charged us a room service that we did not order and refused to take it out of the bill. They claimed that was the wrong voice (was supposed to be in the "pool bar") but there was no way for demonstrating it. Second problem: the magnetic card for opening the door of the room had to be substitute continuously because the did not work properly 4 times in 8 days. Only after many complains they finally, the last night, gave us a different device that worked properly.
    • Complaining at the highest level, but some things could be done better:- Felt glides on the chairs would make less noise when moving them around- The evening program was not that great- Without a car you're almost at a loss, next town is a 15min walk away- Be sure to book half board, it's worth it- During the day from 7:30 construction noise in the beach area- The hotel beach is not very nice- Some guests do not have good manners
    • buffet busy - not enough tables, cutlery, fruit juice, pancakes

The hotel, pool and garden were beautiful

The food, even breakfast, was terrible. Some lack of space around the pool and pool chairs were old and uncomfortable.

    7CristinaPosted on: 2-28-2025

Gardens and pool zone were stunning, spa included was beautiful, entry was regulated so it didn't get crowded. Plenty of parking spaces and big standard rooms.

Breakfast was chaotic, staff were very friendly and trying to help but food was running out quickly and had to queue 10 mins for a coffee.

The whole place was intelligently designed, lovely plants throughput, well maintained, nice ambience with jazz in the lobby. Enjoyed the pool. Nice room, view, decent quality pillows, bedding, room service, etc...Several different beach options not too far away.

We didn’t realise there was no beach at the hotel. Don't know how we missed that minor fact! Only a 15 min walk but a bit of a shock. Looks like they are building access to the sea in front of the hotel atm so assume will be finished later this year.

All inclusive but you still need to pay for your drinks lunch and dinner (including the water ? ) Staff very rude at the spa...

Definitely the view, nice pool area, big size family room. My daughter really liked mini disco . Kids animators and housekeeping staff .

The staff was very friendly and respectful. The rooms were spacious with beautiful views, and the hotel was clean and well-maintained. The pool area was nice, surrounded by lots of plants and green spaces. It’s also conveniently located, not too far from the most beautiful beach in Costa Calma, with easy access also to small grocery stores for shopping.

The restaurant was very disorganized—there was too much waiting for a table, and there wasn’t any cutlery on the table. We always had to call the waiters to bring some, which wasn’t very practical. The food was decent, ranging from 7/10 to sometimes even 8/10—not bad for the price. However, the hotels don’t provide drink water, so you need to buy your own at the store unless you want to pay triple at the hotel bar. They also have cats around the pool area, which is nice, but they look thin. I’m not sure if anyone bothers to feed them, which is a downside for me.

This hotel does not deserve its four-star rating

I recently stayed at the R2 Rio Calma Hotel in Costa Calma, Puerto Ventura, and it was an incredibly disappointing experience. The room smelled strongly of cleaning chemicals, no water was provided, and there weren’t even glasses for drinks or the water we purchased. The fridge was leaking, and the room felt worn down and poorly maintained. When we asked to change rooms, the reception staff were rude and dismissive, essentially saying, 'You get what you pay for,' without offering an apology or professionalism expected from a four-star hotel.Three days in, I developed itchy bites from bed bugs. When we reported this to reception, they didn’t apologize but said they would send someone to check. After waiting thirty minutes, we followed up and were told someone had already checked, which was untrue. They eventually gave us a key to a new room and demanded we move within thirty minutes. Although the new room was better, the overall experience remained terrible. The food service was equally poor. The quality of the food did not meet four-star standards, and the service in the restaurant was chaotic. Waiters were rude and unhelpful, tables were often unmade, and we had to chase down staff for basic service, which was slow and unresponsive. This hotel does not deserve its four-star rating. The experience felt closer to a one-star establishment. I would strongly recommend avoiding R2 Rio Calma Hotel, as it fails to meet even basic hospitality standards.

Upgraded room was offered. Good food. Nice place for a couple providing that you like “all inclusive “ style.

It’s almost 20y.o. Hotel and some refreshment is needed (especially bathrooms)

Clean and lovely hotel with good equipment. The food was mostly good as well. Champagne for breakfast is simply great idea

Service in the restaurant is a bit chaotic with

A very large and varied selection of dishes, fruits, and additions. Free prosecco. Beautiful view of the sea from the restaurant. The nice presence of cats. Efficient room and kitchen service.

That some hotel guests have to start their day with 4 glasses of presecco.

I loved everything about this place; it’s a wonderful place to stay. We arrived late, but we were still able to have dinner. Although the restaurant was closed, they thoughtfully left food for us. The grounds are so lush and green, with plenty of beautiful flowers. Truly a lovely experience!

The hotel does not have its own beach, and getting there from the airport can be challenging. The taxi fare is £160, and we waited two hours for a direct bus. It would be a great improvement if the hotel could offer an airport transfer service.

The Hotel complex and were first class. Lovely pool area, although the sunbeds are a like old and a little too well used and could do with replacing. Pool bar, great choice of drinks and a few dishes to choose from as a snack. The guys in the bar are all hardworking and pleasant.

The Buffet restaurant experience spoiled our short stay! The food selection was OK, bit quality was lacking on a lot of the cooked dishes. But the worst part by far was the rudeness and attitude of the staff to us as customers! Met with a surly attitude on more than one occasion and by different staff which was a shame as staff in most other areas were more than helpfully, pleasant and friendly!

    The beds were very comfy

You are so close to neighbors, we had nightmare Neighbour, up all night/ talking shouting on their balcony

The pool area was stunningThe spa The cleaning The gardening

The food. No taste food, no quality food. Restaurant service very slow. There weren't clean tables to seat in any day that we stayed. Looked like that they had short staff to serve and place tables. We stayed stand with food in or hands waiting for a clean table. There weren't forks, spoons and mugs. We had to wait for a long time for it to start to eat. The coffee machine had broken and we hadn't had coffee to drink. We could see the restaurant staff very stressed and under pressure. Very bad restaurant management and the taste of food could be improved. There wasn't amenities in my room. No shampoo and conditioner, no water and drinks in the frigobar.
