    Pros +

    • Stayed overnight while travelling from Invercargill to Christchurch. Twizel was a convenient place to stop overnight to break the journey. The accommodation was unpretentious, and adequate for our purposes. Close to the road, so easy to find, and also close to shopping/eating centre. Rooms were surprisingly quiet, given the location.
    • Comfy bed, good amenities in room, clean bathrooms, quiet and comfortable, good location
    • Clean, tidy, cozy, complete

    Cons -

    • Misunderstanding about payment..have not heard back also very cold in unit...heaters should be on before guests arrive..-1 temp take some getting adapted to
    • Twizel doesn't have the scenic attractions that Tekapo does, but is much more affordable.
    • Room was in afternoon sun so quite warm, a fan would have been perfect

The clean rooms and proximity to sights and amenities. Also, the lovely staff.

Location was ok, camp kitchen was good and thats it.

The washing machine vibrating both our rooms at 11pm. Apparently no rules for use of a machine that is so loud our kid ended up crying as the noise was like a jack hammer. The photos gave illusion you were getting your own villa - its just dorms for the most part. We were tricked.

Easy, smooth check-in, even when our arrival was after the office closed. The staff who proactively sent the message to explain the check-in procedure were very helpful and professional.

    no secure parking for bicycles

Great location in twizel but very basic Clean. Plenty of parking. Good communication.

    It’s very basic

    4AngelaPosted on: 12-23-2025

For a basic room for the odd night the accommodation was fine. Beds were comfy and sheets clean and good having your own bathroom.

Although the quilts and oversheet could probably do with an upgrade.

Great location in town short walk to eateries and supermarket

    9UnknownPosted on: 12-9-2025

Easy check in, comfortable beds, quiet and a good simple kitchen, close to restaurants, supermarkets.

    Location

    1. We did not get a private parking lot.2. The cooking pan was unwashed (had oil stains on it)3. Got an earful from the manager for a 10 minutes late check out.

    7RobertPosted on: 11-18-2025

Good location, walkable to the town center and close to Mt. Cook. The rooms were large and clean. Check in was easy and the staff were top notch. You get what you pay for here.

The walls were so thin that you could hear the people in the room next door using the toilet and talking. The beds were super uncomfortable. The wifi was less than adequate for anything more than checking emails.

Friendly staff, very clean, basic but comfortable stay and great value.

    9KhosroPosted on: 11-16-2025

The staff were genuinely warm and helpful from the moment I arrived. The place was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the location made everything easy! Close to mount cook & the lake!

The wifi was not that good but nothing that ruined the stay. Overall, still a great experience.

    5IrenePosted on: 11-10-2025

Okay, as I was the only person in a 4 bunk room. There was no place to hang, store, put anything.

    5AlanPosted on: 10-27-2025

Great location. Good shared shower and toilets. Plenty of utensils in the kitchen. Kettle and small fridge in the room. Fresh towels each in our room each day.

No internet for the first night. The tiny TV didn't work - no aerial attached! Found someone's cigarette lighter under the fitted sheet in our bed. The thermostat in the electric room heater did not work, so we woke up sweltering at 2am. No bedside light, just one bare light bulb in the ceiling with a switch by the door.

    7KeithPosted on: 10-25-2025

Location very good. Reception lady very good. Clean and comfortable. Only free to air TV channels available.

The internet had something wrong so I couldn't use my PC. No face cloths available though. I thought it was a bit pricy though.

    7AngeloPosted on: 9-26-2025

Decent place and price. It has old and new buildings. If you get in the old one it's a bit of a time capsule from a bygone era. Not necessarily bad just not what I was used to.
