Pros +
- our room, the pool area, staff and food were excellentit was really lovely and relaxing
- The buildings are on an immense plot of land in the middle or olive groves. It has many white washed buildings dotted with olives and flower. Many of the olives are many centuries old. the rooms are immaculate and tastefully furnished. The property exudes peacefulness. The masseria has an excellent in house restaurant and has an extensive wine list. The staff are kind and helpful.
- A truly special experience at Il Melograno, MonopoliThe hotel is simply stunning - a large and beautiful estate with only a small number of rooms, which makes you feel as if the entire place is yours. Everything is spotless, peaceful, and incredibly charming. The food is great, with a rich breakfast, and also the restaurant for dinner was very good! The service was excellent and very personal. A special thanks to Alessandra, who hosted a wonderful cooking class for us. She was so kind, patient, and knowledgeable - she truly taught us the art of cooking! It was such a lovely and unique experience to prepare, bake, and even take home what we made, along with the recipe as a keepsake ?.Alessandra also gave us great local recommendations that made our stay even better. We truly loved every moment and will definitely come back!
Cons -
- the distance from any other restaurants/towns - the staff were quite resistant to helping with taxi's and I did have a bit of a row with one girl - also taxi are very expensive €25 for 10 minute journeythe beach club is good value in comparison to other "luxury" clubs nearby - however the facilities and decor are quite dated and the staff are very disorganised (but nice people)
- We had a car but the location ca. 4 km outside of Monopoli requires one.
- It was not the property’s fault, but the smell of intentional burning of leaves and vegetation by the local residents, polluted the air and made it an unpleasant experience.

Open space, courtyard setting, centuries old olive trees.
It was not the property’s fault, but the smell of intentional burning of leaves and vegetation by the local residents, polluted the air and made it an unpleasant experience.
The staff is very friendly and the concierge was extremely helpful in recommending places to visit and great restaurants. On entering the property and the hotel you are immediately surrounded by magnificent olive trees which gives this hotel a very special flair.
Beautiful setting and gracious staff. Bonus was a fabulous last minute dinner in the courtyard.
Nothing !
Was central to many areas in Puglia and the staff was welcoming and authentic. The place is beautiful.
Overall, we had a very good stay and would recommend this hotel if you're looking for a peaceful retreat in nature.Main positives: - Beautiful and quiet location with old trees, large grounds, and plenty of relaxing spots- Well organized activities and events (special thanks to Alessandra doing a great job!)- Cosy and comfortable rooms. Great room service!
Unfortunately, I think the hotel falls a bit short for a 5* hotel and I would rate it more like a 4.5*.Areas for improvement:- Gym is small and outdated, below 5 star standards!!- Sauna access costs 50€/30min, not complimentary...- Indoor pool area feels underused and underwhelming (I've barely seen any clients spend time there)- rooms don't have bathtubs The property has strong potential, but a few upgrades are needed to truly meet 5 star expectations.
The staff very nice The place is very nice The gym not very nice a d it didn't have weights but everything else was very nice
The gym
The property is very clean and well maintained. The furnishings are interesting. Breakfast was included and it was good. Their main restaurant is supposed to be excellent, but I did to eat there so I cannot comment on it. We used their beach club which was ok. This is not a true 5 star facility as others have commented but in my opinion, pretty close.
We were not given the room that we booked; and instead, we were given a room that was about 40% smaller. When I brought this to their attention I was told that every room is different and this one has a patio so it is better and that actually I had gotten what I booked. I told them that I do not sleep or bathe on the patio. I had photographs and dimensions from Booking.com which described the room that I paid for. So after two nights, and significant complaining, the room was changed to the correct one shown in the photographs, and supported by the dimensions. There are about 30 rooms in this hotel, and I can assure you from my own experiences managing hotels that management is keenly aware of “good” and “bad” rooms because they get complaints about the bad ones regularly. Our first two nights was in one of their inferior rooms, and was not the one we paid for in advance. No one offered an explanation other than I should enjoy the patio which is shared by other rooms.
The Property is lovely, but maybe a little tired and lacked directional signage to find your way around the grounds.
Lack of signage and not sure everything the Masseria had to Offer. The Spa was difficult to find and once you find it difficult to find the entry door. The massage was terrific!
Hotel is beautiful! Ancient olive trees of 1,000. yrs old on property are very rare and beautiful. Staff is wonderful and Breakfast was incredibly delicious!
Wonderful family room with 2 bathrooms, comfortable beds, great showers, excellent breakfast, very good indoor and outdoor pools, friendly attentive staff.
Food and coffee could be hotter. Hard to find fault.
The pools were lovely as were the gardens. The staff were helpful and courteous. Our room was spacious and comfortable.
The facial I had in the spa was rough and bordering on unpleasant at times. The menu changed very little for evenings and lunches so it got quite boring eating there more than twice. It was also expensive for what it was.
Loved the facilities, the comfy bed, the old olive trees, the breakfast and the location.
Liked it all.
Beautiful property nestled outside of Monopoli. The ground, pool and spa were all gorgeous and staff couldn’t have been better.
We dined in the restaurant one night, the food was exceptional, however the time to get served and to get your food was a bit of a wait. We still walked away very happy just would be one area for improvement
Old olive trees and spa
Rooms a bit dark
Lovely Spa hotel in an Olive Grove with trees 100s of years old.
There seems to be a taxi cartel and they charge €100 for a 4.5 km return trip to Monopoli.
Modern , well design construction on an old facility, at all levels, like rooms, walking areas, swimming pool, tennis court. Extremely old olive trees.
Dinner was OK, but for this area of Italy ( Puglia) just below avarage.
Rooms gorgeous, new bathrooms. Exceptionally clean. Staff incredibly professional. Breakfast exceptional. Fabulous architecture and grounds. Best location!
Bed mattresses are uncomfortable. Hotel property and architecture really beautiful, however needs a little more maintenance to restore it's rustic beauty. Dining hall beautiful, but inadequately furnished.
