Hotel Hafen Hitzacker - Elbe

Good comfort, fine facilities and very clean.

I called the hotel telling them that I would arrive between 18-19 as the bicycling had lasted longer than expected.They didn't bother asking on which side of the Elm I was cycling. I was on the east side (hotel is on west side of the river) and when I arrived at the ferry 15 minutes past 18 it was just to learn that the ferry as per schedule stopped at 18. I phoned the hotel to hear if any help to cros the river was available, but in vain.Fortunate enough a privat man took me over and he told that the hotels all knew that he was able to help. Finally arriving around 1920 just to learn that they had closed both the restaurant and the bar!

Beautiful location on the Elbe. Excellent breakfast. Room was spacious and clean.

For a hotel of this standard it is surprising that there is no drinking water in the room.

I stayed here with my son and I had booked a twin room- however when we arrived they gave us a whole apartment-it was really lovely- in a perfect location with all facilities.Me, being vegetarian found the breakfast was very good—the staff were very helpful and friendly

Room was bigger than expected. it was clean and bed was comfortable. Hotel provides a good Wifi connection.Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant is also exceptional. If I need to go Hitzacker or nearby cities, I will definetely stay Hotel Hitzacker again.

A little problematic to "cross die Elbe" for breakfast - although the weather was o.k.

terrific hotel in beautiful area. staff was very friendly and helpful. nice little twin to poke around. the cafe houseboat is one of a kind.

No hospitality or welcome feeling at arrival (check in must be done in a cafe, in the back). Checkin was done by rude staff who are more concerned about their own things, command guests around and on top of that make mistakes (wrong room, we reserved a better one). Room is in another building, across a very high bridge with a lot of stairs. Also not fitting for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast is across the bridge again. Room is large, but very standard/bland. No tea/coffee facilities. WiFi is poor and partly not at all working. When we mentioned this, the answer was “it’s busy, many people”. Everything seems to be not an issue for the hotel itself, but because of all those guests who are a nuisance. All in all a very disappointing experience, especially for the very high price for the room. Very bad price/quality

Woman at reception was not too responsive to follow our additional request (paper work) while it is not a problem at other hotels. It worsen general impression of the hotel a bit.
