Hotel Royal Palace

This hotel was really nice located, very close to the central station. the staff was really nice and welcoming! Liked a lot the room I was (double room) as it was spacious and in a high floor. The hotel also had a private parking which helps a lot!

I cannot think of minus points here, everything was ok for me.

The hotel is convenient to the train station, which is why we chose it. The price was low - but it is commensurate with the hotel quality. Decent value. Breakfast offered many options. Check out the nearby Cantina Solferino for Sicilian small plates. Yum.

The hotel decor is a bit tired, but not terrible. Given the price, we were content.

Easy 2 minute walk from train station, very welcoming and helpful staff, big comfortable room with huge window overlooking the city, splendid breakfast, lots of variety, fresh fruit, eggs, various meats and cheeses, all sorts of pastry.

Room was comfortable and thoroughly cleaned everyday. It is very convenient that the hotel is located a few meters from the main train station "Messina Centrale".

The breakfast could be better: there were few savory options, basically only only scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese, and the rest was sweet. The wifi worked reliably but it was slow.

Room was very clean and comfortable, and was located next door to a self serve laundry that was a great help.

Unfortunately, when we returned after a walk in the city, the elevator was undergoing maintenance and my wife had to climb eleven flights of stairs with a bad knee. Possibly just bad timing, but was an unfortunate item to mention for anyone with physical needs that could present a problem.

Gave me the wrong room in the beginning. The hotel is dated and needs a remodel.

The location is close to the Messina train station and the ferries back to the mainland. The room was quiet, and the air conditioning was good. The room was dated; nevertheless, it functioned. There are no tea and coffee-making facilities. Breakfast was ok, coffee was good and strong. The elevators are an interesting ride; they will get you to your desired floor.

It was perfectly good for a one-night stay in Messina.

We parked the car in the hotel's garage but the elevator was not working; in the room we had towels only from one so we had to ask at Reception for the second one; the room was located in the elevators area so all night the noise from them all night; the room was connected with another one through a closed door but all the noise from that room...

Good location for the ferry.

The location and facilities are fine

The elevator hydraulic system noise is non stop all day and night, I was not able to get any sleep, at night is not that often but since it is more quiet you hear it more, at 7:00 am I couldn’t take it any more and I went down stairs to complaint but they offered a “little discount” and a free break from stopping me to post a bad review, but here it goes…..I don’t want more customers to go through this, I can believe more people are not complaining about this noise, it says it is a 4 star hotel but it is far from it. I am glad my stay was only for one night.

Rooms were old and dark

Staff were friendly, and the place is clean, but it's due to a big renovation as it is so outdated! Fridge in the room is great, but these days a kettle, tea and coffee is a must in the room, which none of our rooms had. The rooms need soundproofing too.

Good central location, close to station and main shopping area. Room 405 was a very spacious corner room, more like a junior suite, and equipped with tea and coffee makers. The staff were all welcoming and helpful.

WiFi was poor on the fourth floor. Although the bathroom had been modernised, the room itself seemed a bit dated, but it was quite comfortable.

Oldfashion hotel with great breakfast.The location is good.

The housekeeping kept the whole hotel under their control. Cleaning ladies were talking loud early in the morning behind the doors. They did non clean the room when they should have done that.
