Pros +
- Excellent room, helpful staff, wonderful location. We also loved the trails for hiking (across the aquaduct) and the cosy mediaval town close to the hotel. Excursions to Perugia and Assisic were nice interludes between hiking days.
- All of the staff I interacted with were friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and patient with my poor Italian. The views from my room and the hotel common areas were spectacular. Towels were large and fluffy. Parking was convenient if you could snag one of the four spots adjacent to the hotel. The resident hotel cats were super chill; it’s a very pet-friendly property.
- Room was very spacious and view of the bridge was incredible. Staff were great and very friendly.
Cons -
- Internet was not really working which caused some challenges. The hotel has problems getting support from telco for proper connection from hotel and beyond. Hotel works on how to solve this.
- Heater operation was a challenge (recessed buttons), but worked once I figured it out. And I don’t think I’ll ever get used to no shower curtain (pretty common in lots of European hotels).
- The Bathroom could have had a place to stand the shower head to have an easy shower.

I'd stayed here before, several years ago, and always wanted to return. The location is beautiful, with fantastic views across the gorge to Monteluco (and the Ponte delle Torri spanning it). This time we had an even better room (we were kindly upgraded to a superior room), spacious and stylishly decorated with a huge window. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the common spaces were lovely and the breakfast was very good. We hope to go back. I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else in Spoleto.
An old-style hotel in a great location. Beautiful view from the room. Comfortable bed, very clean bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff.. You can park by car.

Staff was friendly and helpful
The facility was tired and in need of updating. The breakfast was minimal.
Their picture of the 13th century pedestrian bridge is no lie - there’s an amazing view out over the ravine and across to the Monteluco side of the valley. It’s quiet, the whole of the “centro storico” is an easy walk and the staff is super friendly and helpful. We loved the enormous windows in our room, with the wonderful view. If you like museums, get the Spoleto card - you can visit all 6 museums for a reduced price within 7 days.
There’s nothing we didn’t like, but it might be worthwhile to check whether the bridge, mentioned above, the “ponte delle Torri” has re-opened. It’s been closed for more than 20 years for repairs, and was due to reopen this month, Sept ‘23. There’s another way across, but it’s a bit of a scramble. I remember how pleasant it was to walk on that side before 2000
Beautiful views of the medieval bridge and valley. Friendly, helpful staff. Terrific complimentary buffet breakfast.
Good location for don Matteo places to meet, close to city centre, good view of attractions, good staff, good service, good breakfast.
All good
Everything is great - amazing location, unique views and atmosphere, the interesting building, stylish rooms, decent breakfast, the supernice owner ar the reception. That was my 2nd visit and I'll be coming back again. Some rooms are good and some are fantastic, definitely worth paying up a few euros for higher category.
I liked everything
superb location, amazing views, decent breakfast
very hard mattress
Stunning setting with sweeping Mountain views and the perfect location just a short walk from the historic center; stylish hotel; very kind and attentive staff.
uncomfortable mattress.
The view, the management and the famous hotel cat. Very close to La Portella, a great place for a breathtaking view and a glass of wine.
Hotel unique building, surroundings and landscape, breakfast on the terrace.
The room was a bit ordinary. The bath was without a shower screen. Air conditioning weak without adjustment.
The hotel is a wonderful piece of 60/70s design, almost all intact, and spectacularly situated. Some may therefore regard some of the room facilities as a little out-of-date, but for us it was an aesthetic delight.
the architectural aesthetic is to be commended
the challenge of the shower, however I appreciate the conversion to a more modern version may work against the overall appearance
The hotel was super beautiful and authentic.Lovely styling and staning view!!Spoleto is a great town fir a glince of Umbria.I reccomend dearly.
Beautiful view
This is the best place to stay if you want to see the Roman aqueduct!
The hotel facilities are a little dated.
