Antico Hotel Moderno

Excellent breakfast, friendly staff, right in the middle of town, rooms were very clean and spacious.

Parking was limited and difficult to find since the hotel only has a few spots. (FYI, Parking tickets are 38euro.) Wifi did not work in our room or hall on third floor. Had to go to lobby area on second floor.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good.

Location! Really close to the train station and a minute walk and you are in the heart of the old town with plenty of shopping, restaurants, and a beach is 5 min away. Room was big, staff were nice.

Not a big deal for me but there isn’t an elevator and the lobby is on the first floor so you need to carry your luggage up the stairs. Again not a problem for me just so everyone knows

Terrible attitude from personal. Receptionist was screaming at us. We were disappointed because of no parking and no room for our bikes. This two conditions we had for choosing that terrible hotel. At the end parking was possible only in the street nearby. The space for bikes was a dirty room under stairs without normal light. And the breakfast: old cakes from the day before, no vegetables, nothing natural and regional. Only food from supermarket. Nobody speaks really English there. We recommend to avoid this hotel.

You have to go up a flight of stairs to access reception. Then more flights of stairs to access the rooms. There is absolutely no help with luggage and the staff couldn’t care less. The roomIs so old and dingy. Of all the places we stayed at in our 3 week stay, this one was by far the worst and most unpleasant. The next morning, my husband went down for breakfast (and I use the term loosely). There was coffee and stale pie. At checkout, when they wanted to charge him for « breakfast » he contested the charge and informed the receptionist about what happened. She got angry at him and tore the invoice in his face in multiple pieces. My husband, my daughter and I were shocked. We couldn’t believe her reaction. She then started cursing in Italian and threatened to complain about us on booking. Dave yourself the aggravation and DO NOT GO THERE!!!

location near the railway station, decent breakfast.

No lift, which, for a modern hotel,l is absurd. Had to hand lift up and down heavy luggages on a steep and dangerous stair. Never again!

Breakfast was alright but wasn't always fresh.

Excellent breakfast and coffee ?; however the hotel made us pay for it, even though I have Genius level 2.

I love the location 2 minutes walk to the train station 2 minutes walk to the supermarket 4 minutes walk to beach and city center

No elevator you have to carry your luggage to the first floor for check in

Very nice, staff were friendly, they reccomend us pizzeria near by the hotel, we arrange with them also for earlier breakfast, which was very good. We left car on the street, no problem.

We could enter our room by midday - it had just been cleaned - so helpful.. Breakfast a lovely surprise and better than described on booking - also beautifully served in a verandah enclosed restaurant, light, airy. Direct train to Florence 5 mins away

No lift to first floor, but we were offered help so no problem

Very clean, quiet and lovely staff, it’s located next to the train station and center of the town so everything is very easy accessible.

It was quite expensive for the simpleness of room, we were asked to pay extra when requesting the towel swans (as in the photos) being the last day of our honeymoon. Breakfast was mainly sweets as regularly in Italy, the very few savory part felt cheap out of the package and not well made. As people from the Northern Europe we were disappointed.

A very 'acceptable' place. Not great, not awful. We picked it because it was cheap and close to the main station.

Rooms are ancient and have very uncomfortable beds.

Good points of this hotel are few: 1) Good location - close to village center, stores and cafe 2) Clear room interior 3) Friendly personell willing to help

Areas for improvement: 1) Price is too high for provided level of service 2) Hotel rooms needs renovation 3) Breakfast - personel gives ALL food to you by demand - even if you want a glass of water you have to ask about it. This approach is humilating. You will not loose much money making a buffet 4) Breakfast - has poor set of dishes 5) NO check-in and check-out at night - if you want to leave early that will be a problem.

We had a four bedroom, and it was large and plenty of space for the luggage. The air condition worked very well. The breakfast was Italian with bread, egg, cheese, ham, coffee, juice, yoghurt and fruit.  The location of the hotel was in the centre of Piombino. 

There were no elevator.

Very well located, close to the train station, not so far from the harbour. Very helpful staff
