- Room - very nice.Woman at desk..morning. Went above and beyond to research a question...even came down and found me at breakfast! How kind!!
- The hotel is beautifully located and the rooms are just lovely with hints of its medieval history. I absolutely loved this hotel. The staff were very pleasant and there was so much to see right outside the hotel. There were plenty of shops and restaurants in this very picturesque town. Gubbio was wonderful and I only wished my husband and I stayed there longer. Perfect location for couples. I would definitely stay here again.
- Wonderful hotel right in the centre of Gubbio. Quirky layout but beautiful rooms. Garden terrace is amazing.
Cons -
- The place to enter with quite a number of steps was a bit unexpected. I came traveling very light, but if I had even had a small rolling bag, it would have been a bit challenging. It is, however, part of Gubbio -it is a hill town!Hearing the bells all night was an interruption for me..not the fault of the hotel, but a distraction for sure.
- There was a lot of construction making it difficult to drive to the hotel but we did make it with the help of some locals.
- We had to close our bedroom windows for the bells every 15 minutes. Oh well.

Wonderful hotel right in the centre of Gubbio. Quirky layout but beautiful rooms. Garden terrace is amazing.
Beautiful room with a view with mini fridge, kettle. Very comfortable.
We had to close our bedroom windows for the bells every 15 minutes. Oh well.
Loved the location, right on the plaza with convenient walking distance to everything in idealic Gubbio. Hotel staff, particularly Patricia, really made sure we had everything we needed. Downstairs breakfast was plentiful and healthy!
Parking is a little tricky since hotel is in the restricted traffic zone, but hotel staff was terrific in helping with directions to their free parking by the Funivia which was only a short walk.
The location is great. The little garden is very nice. Breakfast was very good. Our room had a stone ceiling and a window to overlook Gubbio. That was awesome.
Great hotel. Awesome view from the terrace. Nice and clean rooms. Very nice and helpful staff. Relaxing Spa facility.
All good there. Nothing to complain.
Location in the middle of the historic city Breakfast was very good with the outside terrace overlooking the valley next to the palazzo
Access by car very complicated we had to walk 1 km with our luggage
Location. Staff helpful and pleasant.
An old tired hotel barely occupied. Many spaces underutilized with equipment piled up everywhere.
Room was nice, bed comfortable, only three low pillows which is not good for tall people (bigger pillows or 2 each needed). Shower and water pressure not great. Breakfast good. Staff friendly
Gubbio is a delightful medieval town. What a treat to stay in part of the Ducal palace right on the dramatic main piazza! The staff were excellent-so friendly and helpful. Our room had a fabulous view of the piazza and the Umbrian hills. The palace is very old so rooms are on various levels with various elevators plus some stairs in places. It makes for an adventure to find your room! The breakfast was good with eggs, yogurt, cheeses, cold meats, fruit and many sweets. There is a small bar both inside and outside on the piazza in nice weather. There are two lovely large gardens on different levels in the hotel. Close to lots of restaurants, shops etc.
Excellent location on the Piazza with a cute cafe for breakfast, a cappuccino or wine. The room was nicely appointed and spacious. Rustic furnishings but very nice. The balcony of our room was amazing (Room 402). Unexpected and lovely with views of Gubbio. Highly recommend it. The staff was so incredibly friendly and accommodating.
The shower barely worked; it was a trickle of hot water and then on day two the bathroom completely flooded. They did re-silicone the shower at our request but the water pressure did not improve.
Marvellous location on the square with view of the town, quite strange walk in a cafe that lead to the hotel. Unique interior and busy with all locals. Lovely decor room and nice buffet breakfast. Lovely coffee and very professional staff
Nice views, clean and comfortable room. Charming location and amazing staff.
Central location.
Hot water inadequate, instructions in room info not up to date. Break-fast and bar-food not great.
Great location, clean and comfortable property in lovely Gubbio. Great breakfast too. Staff on duty during day time hours were lovely and very helpful.
After hours access not explained & all four of us had a problem in accessing to the hotel after 20 pm due to a difficult male staff person on duty after hours.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Lovely garden.
As with all medieval towns in Italy parking is a distance away but there are shuttle buses. Lots of car parks in the new town.
Good Location in the Old Town, nice property as located in the old Palace, but lot of stairs to go up and down so you need to travel with limited luggage
accessibility by car was not appropriate as the hotel is located in the old town, parking was far by 10 minutes walk, breakfast was limited
Relais DucaleOur bags were taken to our room (to our surprise) via stairs and elevator. Our room was spacious, always warm & looked out at the hotel’s back garden. We had a comfortable bed, plenty of storage & a basic bath. We were also provided with history of the local area. The staff was a well oiled team, helpful and accommodating. The hotel’s entrance was across from Palazzo dei Consoli & Piazza Grande. Along the street we found many ceramic artist’s shops, featuring hand painted majolica, to our delight! Near by you can take an elevator to Cattedrale dei Santi Mariano e Giacomo. Gubbio is definitely a serious hill town and we stayed at the very top of it. We were directed by the hotel to park at the Funivia Parcheggio lower level and it was free! Later that day we took the very unique Funivia Colle Eletto up the hill to the Basilica of Saint Ubaldo. Highly recommended!Another hotel detail is that it was were the TV series Don Matteo was filmed for Italian TV’s Rai Uno. The Hotel has the chess table set up outside the hotel's entrance with Don Matteo's beret and the police inspector's hat.Don Matteo (English: Father Matthew) is an Italian television series that has been airing on Rai 1, Italian national television's first channel, since 2000.The protagonist of the series is Father Matteo (portrayed by Terence Hill), a Catholic priest in a parish of the town of Gubbio, Perugia. He is also known for his unrivaled talent in investigating local crime stories. Father Matteo is a wise and respected person who really manages to understand people's problems, and always appears to be willing to help. Thanks to his charm and positivity, he often helps criminals on their way to redemption and he always convinces them to confess their crimes and to accept their responsibilities.
Everything in this hotel is wonderful - beautiful room well heated and great bed. Staff are friendly and helpful and there is a warm atmosphere throughout.
There is nothing to dislike . We were completely happy with our stay.
