About
Located within an 18th-century Tuscan farmhouse, this charming hotel is nestled in the lush greenery of the Lucchese hills, in a microclimate that offers cool evenings even in summer. You can experience memorable stays of pure relaxation, far from the noise of the city, immersed in a 40-hectare pine forest. Hotel Villa Casanova features a patrician chapel and several farmhouses, one of which dates back to the 1400s, where the Balbani family once lived (and which gave the name to the locality). All units of the hotel are equipped with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and satellite TV. The property also includes a room to meet with other guests, a large garden, and an infinity pool with a view of the valley and, on the horizon, the Nozzano castle. The property is a 20-minute drive from Lucca, 3.1 mi from Lake Massaciuccoli, 25 minutes from Pisa, 30 minutes from Torre del Lago, and 30 minutes from Viareggio, making the hotel the ideal location for summer holidays. Hotel Villa Casanova is the ideal solution for sleeping during the Lucca Comics event, free parking available, connection to the bus or shuttle for a fee

Pros +
- Friendly and accommodating staff, beautiful setting and architecture, beautiful room with a comfortable bed, delicious pasta.
- Beautiful. Great food as well.
- Awesome location on a mountain side. Room was spacious and housekeeping was on top of everything. Food was fantastic. Bravo to Rany, an excellent waiter. Theviews were amazing
Cons -
- Decor in the living areas needs updating, dining at night/decor and ambiance needs updating to fulfill the 5-star rating of this idyllic setting and building. The accommodating and friendly staff filled in for the gaps, but to make it feel 5-star some work is needed in the reception and dining and common space areas.
- Poor WiFi. No irons for clothes.
- The bed was completely unacceptable. It was way too soft. We didn’t complain because the hotel was sold out.

The personnel, the wonderful very professional and helpful people. They have made our stay stays very memorable, everybody was wonderful, Hibah at the reception and Rainer at the restaurant were especially amazing! The food, great quality and wonderful very personable dinner experience.
The bathroom fixtures were pretty crummy, loose, leaking, old, you may want to bring them up to the otherwise excellent standards of the place. The bed was not exactly up to current standards, the mattress should be replaced to make it more firm.....
The staff were just amazing. Attentive, helpful and so lovely.
Just a bit remote but we liked that.
Magnificent setting a 15 minute taxi from the walled city of Lucca. Great staff and wonderful restaurant!!
Stunning property, gigantic rooms, clean and tidy with a view to die for! But the best, and what made our stay truly unique, was the amazing people that work at the hotel. They stole our hearts and made this an experience of a lifetime. XX Chris and Marita
The room is really huge with lovely view and balcony and bathroom is really a plus and surprise and I really enjoy the countryside environment very peaceful and easy to visit the towns around.Staff is really friendly
The breakfast timing and offering could be more flexible and more offering
great views, great size rooms and bathrooms, excellent helpful staff
beds were too soft, maybe need new mattresses. that was the only comment for improvement
Hotel Villa Casanova provided us with exceptional customer service, spacious accommodations, clean and comfortable. Meals that we had during our stay were satisfying and full of flavor.
Everything was perfect- location, breakfast, people
A lovely small hotel in a fantastic position. Our room was huge (they often are in Tuscany) with a great modern/traditional bathroom. As it is out of town, we ate in the little hotel restaurant overlooking the valley. It was superb with fully homemade cooking and great ingredients. Also, great breakfast buffet and cooked as needed. We loved this hotel.
Had a little trouble finding it on the sat nav
Staff amazing with my three year old son, nothing was too much trouble. We had early flight so they even did breakfast early for us. Can not wait to return when hopefully we can use the outside pool (it was a bit cold!)
An amazing hotel location with stunning views over quiet rolling hills. Stunning rooms with enormous and lavish bathroom furnishings, culminating in a very special stay.
Sometimes the hot water started to run low during a shower
Beautiful room and lovely views. Huge bathroom and delicious breakfast. Wish we’d had longer to enjoy the facilities.
Large room so air con wasn’t the best for the August heat.
We liked the spacious room. Restaurant staff were great.
Crowded pool, not enough chairs for everyone. AC although apparently functional it didn’t work. TVs (both) did not work - one’s sound was completely off and the other one, we assumed the WiFi was too slow for the internet TV that was using. WiFi overall a problem. We brought this issues up to the front desk the first morning and nobody did anything. We again brought it up the morning of the departure ( we only stayed 2 nights) and all they did was offering us biscuits. Patetic after paying over 800 dollars between the stay and room service. While we understand that things might go wrong, we did not appreciate them not responding to the malfunction when we brought it up. On top of that we were told that we should have said something again in the afternoon. Like should I just set reminders for you to ofer the service I paid for?
This is a quite exceptional hotel. Small with an intimate feeling throughout, with extraordinary attention to detail, both in its decor and its customer service. A standard setter as a boutique hotel.
Breakfast was superb on the terrace each morning. The Villa Casanova has been beautifully renovated and the rooms super spacious. We loved all the amenities the hotel had to offer including the fantastic pool. If you have time take the opportunity to visit the Carrara Marble mines, they will not dissappoint.
Elegant classy hotel, massive spacious rooms, amazing view, lovely pool - great location, great staff!
We got a room facing the car park- but was still lovely
Me and my wife stayed the night in this beautiful hotel and it did not disappoint! The views, food , staff, and hotel was perfect, very clean the rooms was so big we had a balcony over looking the mountains. If you want nothing but peace this is perfect for you! The pool over looked the mountains the grounds was also beautiful, I would recommend a car as taxis are very expensive and you need to drive to get there, we would definitely come back!!! Thank you for an amazing stay
Nothing it was perfect
