Hotel Villa San Michele

The hotel is full of old world charm and the staff is friendly and attentive. Our room overlooked the lovely gardens and while it was too cool for a swim, the pool looked inviting. The breakfast was lavish and delicious. With a car, it is a convenient distance from the beautiful old city.

The WiFi was sketchy and the dinners in the restaurant were expensive and not great.

Lovely staff, beautiful grounds, easy parking and comfortable room and reception area. Nice restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine.

Their breakfast buffet and service was delightful. We loved the various coffee drinks and variety of foods. The staff treats everyone warmly any time you are in the common areas. The pool is fantastic and the entire property really peaceful. It is a little out of the way for exploring Lucca easily during the evenings, but otherwise set up well for the location in Tuscany to visit various places with a car.

The server at breakfast, Sammy, was very friendly and helpful.

Sound from the next room penetrated as if the walls were made of paper. Every flush, TV , conversation was clearly heard. No tea or coffee maker in the room and Breakfast only begins at 8. The front desk staff were cold and indifferent. The description made it sound like an elegant country villa but in reality it was just an old building with an old untidy garden.

The evening restaurant menu was far too experimental. would have preferred some classic Italian dishes instead of raw minted prawns...

Beautiful grounds. The crew at the hotel were welcoming and helpful. They packed us breakfast when we needed to leave early in the morning, before the restaurant opened up.

The hotel was beautifuland clean and staff very welcomg and helpful. The evening meal we had was delicious!

We were surprised and disappointed not to have tea and coffee making facilities in the hotel room. Neither was there access to tea or coffee in the breakfast area so we had to ask a member of staff for a second drink at breakfast. There were limited TV channels available which wasn't ideal for our 14 year old. Netflix access would have been great!The location was a few miles out of town and so buses or taxis were required to get in to Lucca. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and given the remote location, this could be a problem (but wasn't for us).

Loved the staff, the aperitivos and snacks are great. The breakfast is ok - it does the job. The pool area is lovely. The location is good and some nice walks around but it’s very difficult to get home after dinner in Lucca, you either wait at a taxi rank which could take a while or get back for the last bus - Not ideal but I still enjoyed staying out of the centre. Edouardo made our stay special.

I had a terrible experience as I had a puncture very late at night and waited for an hour for the tow truck..

The pool area is stunning with beautiful surrounds.

Our room was very very small and while we said we were on our honeymoon, we never received any acknowledgment of that. Other hotels made much more of an effort

A stunning property which is exceptionally well maintained. Our room - Deluxe ensuite - was very spacious, immaculate and had absolutely everything we needed (note, don't open the window for too long, bugs get in!). The hotel itself is beautiful and exactly as describled by words and photos on the Booking.com website. Breakfast was included and there was a wonderful variety of fresh produce every day - the cappuccino was the best we have ever had with a hotel breakfast. The waiting staff were (particularly Edwardo, Sammy & the dark-haired lady at breakfast) excellent too. Check-in and out was a very simple process. The pool is stunning and in a wonderful environment - unfortunately with an October stay & thunderstorms the experience was short-lived as the mosquitos were plentiful and hungry. The foyer was a wonderful place to sit and absorb the atmosphere and the bar is there also. There were bikes and vespa's available for hire but you would need to be a confident user to hire them on Italian roads.

The tv did not have any channels other than Italian channels. We thought at least one English speaking channel might have been available. You definitely need a car as access is not possible by bus, only car and taxi.

Peaceful and beautiful place with a lovely garden and pool. The room was nice size. The breakfast was really good and versatile and the dinner at the hotel was delicious. The atmosphere at the hotel was wonderful and staff seemed happy!

The airconditioning was a must when we selected the hotels for our Tuscan tour. Nobody told us that in October the airconditioning was set out to make the room only warmer (even though set out to 20 C). The room got too warm for us to have a good night sleep because of this ?

The staff is great, the lobby is gorgeous, restaurant for dinner is excellent and all this only 10 minutes away from Lucca by car

The bed in room 103 was extremely hard, uncomfortable to sleep for us.
