Pros +
- It is centrally located and has great historical attraction. The staff are very helpful. The free breakfast is generous and good. Fresh espresso is available on asking.
- The breakfast buffet was very well prepared. While we don't eat meat from mammals, they offered sliced turkey among their options. Very welcome. Other welcome additions were the fried potatoes and the sun-dried tomatoes. Many fresh pastries, yogurts, cereals, etc. Very satisfying.
- So disappointing.this was the most expensive hotel in the area when we boooked and of our 2 weeks traveling Italythe ve
Cons -
- The room had air conditioning but it was not adequate during the heat wave we encountered.
- Can't think of a single thing that I would have improved on.
- Reception gave wrong directions 2x to park our car. Room was the smallest I’ve ever had. We were in a different hotel every night for 2 weeks and this was ridiculous. Asked for another room to no avail. Wall were so makes up with black makes. Looks terrible. Scale in room didn’t work.

Breakfast and location are very good
Price of water in the minibar. An expensive hotel should provide free water
Location, cleanliness, very modern clean decoration, excellent food, cosy and friendly.
location is fantastic. the staff were fabulous and couldn’t do enough
our room was a bit small and the bathroom way too small.
Had previously stayed at the older Universo Hotel. The new Hotel is quite beautiful and modern.
The hotel is in a great location facing out on to a quiet square with lots of restaurants nearby. The staff are super friendly, very helpful and professional - everywhere, at reception, in the breakfast room, in the restaurant. The quality of food is very good - we had two excellent breakfasts and dinners.
My room was small but very comfortable. When booking, I obviously picked the "piccolo" which was an error on my part. If you like having space, book a bigger room.
Exceptional staff, service & location. Beautiful accommodations.
I liked absolutely everything about the property. The elegance of the old building has been kept, but it has been updated in an extremely stylish and comfortable way. Location is also tiptop.
I will not be back
The room was at most a 200 euro room not the 500 I paid. There was frequently a smell of sewage in the corridor outside the room. When I complained about the size of the room I was told it was not the smallest in that class of room. The city view promised was of an alley with overflowing rubbish bins.
Getting ready for my dream wedding in Grand Universe in Lucca was a breathtaking experience. Not only is the place stunning, the staff made me feel super comfortable on my special day. They always were on their best interest to assist me and my guests.I will definetly recommend to anyone that is visiting Lucca to stay at Grand Universe Lucca!
Central Location and the hall
Room size, bar and restaurant. Staff availability
Great view from our room. Room was spacious and liked the minimalist design. Staff was very kind and welcoming
Some construction work was going on one morning which woke us up at 7am
Disappointing
No hot water in the shower. IT on room TV, room tablet and on the hotel website useless. Did not provide information on the hotel restaurant and it menu.
Very well located.Classy decor.
Some of the facilities are rather dated. Rooms are too small and furnishing is not well thought out when it comes to usage.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was really comfortable. The bed was really big and the furniture was nice. The room wasn't crowded
Regulating the water temperature in the shower wasn't really intuitive
We didn't have breakfast. We went to a neighbourhood cafe. Very friendly, helpful Reception staff. Very comfortable. Excellent location. Nice coffee machine in room as well as kettle.
Found shower temperature difficult to control. Two showers were too cold and the third too hot. Staff informed and given immediate attention. Not much room around the bed against the fixture and drawers. Attic room. Kettle used on the floor. Couldn't be used in situ. Only one breakfast tea given, but rectified immediately. However overall very clean, comfortable room, with big bed and excellent service.
Nice hotel, fresh renovated, high ceiling, stylish, quite big rooms, super location, wellcome drinks.
A little bit expensive for Lucca
Excellent location, modern interior with helpful staff
