    Pros +

    • We traveled with our family dog and were delighted to find the hotel truly dog‑friendly. The staff were exceptionally welcoming—three months later my daughter still talks about how kind the ladies at breakfast were, and of course how delicious the hot chocolate was every morning. The location offers plenty to do: the hotel has its own swimming pool and direct access to a trail leading up the mountain behind it (tip: bring enough water, as there’s very little shade). All rooms were air‑conditioned, which made a huge difference during the Italian summer heat. Overall, it was a comfortable stay with a genuinely friendly atmosphere that made us feel at home.
    • Pool and watercolor opportunities at every turn plus the La Quercia Restaurant a leisurely walk away was excellent.
    • Daria and Anna and the staff in charge of breakfast, the man who tended bar when kitchen closed, Emiliano and his spouse are demanding I all details and preservation goals are truly met. The pool is exceptional and the Aperil Spritz cocktails are generous, the new bathrooms are the best.

    Cons -

    • We stayed in the main building on the top floor, which meant tackling two steep staircases—18 steps each. Even though we found a back exit with slightly easier stairs, we still had to manage the first set, and it was a bit nerve racking with our 25 kg dog when she needed to go outside.Tip: If you have mobility concerns or are traveling with a large dog, request a room in the other building or at least on the first floor to avoid the steep climbsThis is the only reason I didn't give top marks in comfort.
    • Too many steps to our room.
    • A small lift for luggage would have been good for old folks like me, but I need excercise too!

Cute out of the way stay when we were visiting Lucca - the building is beautiful, and the breakfast was very nice, and both the our kids had plenty of options to choose from, and the cappuccinos definitely helped! My daughter (3 years old) enjoyed the slide and swings on the front yard). All the staff were very nice and helpful, especially since we had some problems with our reservation.

We booked a 3 night stay with 2 children, 1 8 months old and a 3 year old, the hotel knew this since we request beds for each child. However when we arrived we were told that our room as on the second floor, there is no elevator, and each floor has a stair case of very very steep tile steps, around 20 or so steps. On the booking.com page there is a not that some rooms are only accessible with stairs, however it does not mention that there are NO GUEST ROOMS on the ground floor (for the room type & rate we booked), so no matter what we would have some stairs to go up, and with 2 strollers this was not easy at all. The hotel did move us the next day to the 1st floor, so at least that was a small improvement. The wifi did not work at all, in either of our rooms, for the entire stay, even after I asked for it to be fixed at least twice. This was problematic when traveling, so take into consideration.

Beautiful rooms, shutters and air-con so perfect for a cool, dark, noise-free sleep. Lovely pool. Good breakfast.

The staff were all helpful, but perhaps some more training and attention to detail would make for a better experience.

Location was great set in own grounds with nice views

Needs some modern amenities updated but had rustic character too

    Pleasant

No restaurants in the vicinity. Hotel room could be cleaner. Wat to expensive for the actual experience.

    - Great location, very peaceful, great views - Lovely pool area with stunning views- Clean and spacious rooms- Most friendly staff you will meet

Nothing really, maybe breakfast could have a bit more variety and pool a bit cleaner. Also showers at pool don’t work properly so people don’t shower before jumping in.

Location of the place. Nice pool.

the carpet in the room was full of animal hairs. the dust under the beds were 2 to 3 centimetres. same as in the walkways and stairs.was cleaned on request immediately. but a bad start.all lounge areas in hotel are not cosy and not looked after/ taken care of. therefore not used by the guests.

Very beautiful grounds, and building. Extremely peaceful. The room was amazing with a pristine bathroom. The pool was perfect and there was a good range of delicious food and drinks, served by staff who were happy to help with anything, and very accommodating.

Small point but the sun loungers are not the best if you want to lie on your front, but this is really the only thing we could think of! Still a 10/10!

Beautiful place, nice pool, good restaurant and breakfast, nice staff.

    We liked everything.

The location is great, beautiful surrounding. Comfortable room and nice swimming pool with a view. Staff is more than friendly.

The hotel is quite old and we had to take all our luggage to the third floor via the stairs. This is not a big issue but something to keep in mind when booking.

We really enjoyed our stay and would love to go back. Beautiful historic building with a very lovely outdoor area. We loved the swimming pool - perfect for families with young kids. Very quiet location, Walking distance from a small town with a really good pizzeria. Our room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was great, varied and good quality. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and that was delicious too. Our son liked the small playground.

As it is a good place for families, I think what is missing is a changing table on the ground floor. Our room was on the 3rd floor (no elevator) and having to go there to change our son's diapers while in the swimming pool or at the restaurant is not practical. Another thing, I think Booking should have more info regarding the floor where certain rooms are located. Climbing lots of stairs could be difficult in certain circumstances (for example, young baby with a stroller).

The room was spacious and comfortable, very well tasted decorated the entrevue villa. The food at dinner was very tasty and breakfast as well

Location and classic design, surroundings were awesome as well. Staff was very helpful and welcoming.

Plates were not cleaned properly. I took three plates in a row and there were residue from previous use. Even two of them had chocolate visible on them. Also, room carpet looked quite old and not that clean.

Location, staff, restaurant and pool were all great.

No fridge, bottled water or means to make a drink in the room

Breakfast was nice, views were nice. The garden and views around the house are breathtaking.

Rooms and furniture was a bit worn out, but this is an old house. Also the door of the room was not isolated, so you could hear what was happening in the corridors and other rooms. No elevator so not good with disabled people.

The location was glorious - between Lucca and Pisa and easy to get to both. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful, the food was superb, and the building was amazing.

Amazing location, atmosphere, vibe and staff. Awesome restaurant, tasty wine and beautiful views?

    10ElenaPosted on: 4-5-2024

Looks from outside and from the incident like a small castle! Big rooms that are renovated but style was kept intact. Bathroom is very clean new and modern. Bed is big and comfortable. Breakfast was good, various meals and great coffee. In summer should be wonderful - with multiple hiking trails, swimming pool, huge outdoor area, and 10 minutes drive to both Piza and Lucca.
