Inside the Parador Jaén, you can travel back in time to the 18th-century when you walk through and admire the original features. Look up to high, arched ceiling, wooden beams and beautiful, tiled floors throughout. Be enchanted by the decor which is in complete harmony with the historic structure, using classical-style furniture with an Arabic influence. Soak up the sunshine which this area enjoys most of the year and then cool off with a refreshing swim in the Parador Jaén’s outdoor seasonal pool. Enjoy meals in the dining room which has a distinctive Arabic character. Here, you can sample many traditional delights such as the varied soups and salads of the region.

The pool, the view and the room
There is no bar at the pool and there is no room service. The restaurant is mid.
great view, exceptional location - wow
no coffee or tea facilities in the room and the pool only opened at 11:30 making a morning swim befor you start the day impossible
Very cool stay, good value for a Parador. A bit too isolated, not the easiest to get to without a car, but the facilities include everything you’d need. There is a well-priced bar/cafeteria, not only the pricier restaurant. Pool was a huge plus.
Historical buildings
The room was basic, not even a cup of tea could not get. Shower was small and mouldy. Will not receive
Beautiful rooms, very good staff, amazing views.

We really liked the location on top of the mountain and beside the castle. We also liked our room, which included a balcony with small round table and two chairs where we celebrated our wedding anniversary drinking wine while overlooking the beautiful valley. I also liked the pool, which was large, and the fact that there was a helpful attendant giving out towels. The breakfast on offer was also fine.
The food I ate in the bar at two meals and the food we had at dinner in the restaurant was of very poor quality, especially for a parador where expectations are high. The tofu and quina salad I had at lunch was terrible, with raw tasteless tofu on top and giant globs of mustard in the bowl. It also had tuna and potatoes at the bottom like in a Russian salad but this wasn't mentioned in the item description. I didn't want tuna so I was surprised to see it in the salad. At dinner, I ordered the local specialty of fried aubergine topped with honey. I had eaten this before elsewhere so I thought it would be good. However the eggplant wasn't cut thinly into coins but thickly into wedges and this made the dish soggy and unsatisfying. The serving size was also too large so a lot of food is being wasted there. But the worst item was the hummus and chips my husband ordered for dinner. The chips were extremely bitter and tasted like they had been sprayed with some toxic red chemical. I took one bite and spit it out in disgust. This parador really needs to hire a better cook fast! They need someone who knows what they are doing, not someone who pretends to be a cook.
Views, the room, shower decor of the entire place, pool, beautiful grounds, personable staff
The food was not very tasty, tho the desserts were good!
The location and historic renovation of the parador is wonderful. Beautiful views for miles around, peaceful, spectacular setting.
Our room 228 was located over a big pipe that was probably related to air conditioning or something of that nature and it was going all the time. We requested a room change but were told they were full. Seems like a hotel of this stature should have a room available for such eventualities. It was very disappointing as it’s such a peaceful, rural and natural environment that this pipe noise ruined our stay.
Restaurant was magnificent. The stuff dealt with problems quickly and efficiently.
My shower spilled over and created a huge puddle. The maintenance guy came quickly and drained it with the snake and cleaning lady made the puddle disappear. But it could have been done before it happened as a regular maintenance. Parking is overtaken by people from the town. If you are lucky you will find a spot if not they don't guarantee it The general feeling the hotel is a bit run down. This was my 4th Parador expectations were high. Total disappointment.
Great stay at a beautiful property. Hotel accommodated our request to have rooms next to each other. Views over the city and endless fields of olive trees was amazing. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Truly a special place.
Great view, great dinner, great house
the service at breakfast could have been better
Very clean. Absolutely wonderful setting. We had the corner room in the castle tower with king bed. Room would be improved with wine bottle opener and better coffee. Know that you are way above the town. Taxis are available to venture out. Location: many battles were fought here for its prime location—about 1.25 hours from Córdoba, and the same from Granada. Restaurant: The food is good. Excellent breakfast. Understaffed on one morning, so we didn’t get to order hot food. The 2 staff were swamped. Dinner: gross spinach dish. Cooked to death and under-salted. I liked the paella, served table side from big pan. Sea Bass “Sephardic Cuisine” was good. Lamb confit was good. Cannelloni was good. Albondigas—very good.
The service was inconsistent. Some excellent, some not.
Must be one of the most spectacular locations in Spain. The view is absolutely breathtaking. The grandeur of the Parador is one of a kind. Ever had breakfast in a place that feels like a castle dining hall?
The rooms itself are pretty standard, the shower cabin really is too small unless you are Macron. You pay for the location, but does that justify the exorbitant prices ?
Lovely location and really friendly staff. Excellent parking for my motorcycle. Impressive clean large room with views over the mountains. Everything Perfect
Excellent location, room, and facilities. Friendly helpful staff. Restaurant good, not excellent.
The room, large terrace, location and historic setting
Restaurant staff were nice but rough/ untrained.Food was too adventurous and lost its taste and appeal..U
