About
Nestled in the traditional Valais hamlet of Commeire, in the heart of the Swiss Alps, Montagne Alternative offers stylish, eco-friendly accommodations in beautifully restored historic barns and mountain chalets. Combining authentic alpine charm with contemporary comfort, it is the perfect retreat for those seeking nature, tranquility, and inspiration. A peaceful atmosphere is an essential part of the Montagne Alternative experience. To preserve the serenity of the hamlet and ensure everyone's comfort, guests are kindly asked to respect quiet hours from 10:00 pm onwards. Breakfast is served daily. Half-board can also be arranged for groups of 10 guests or more upon request. Each room and barn features a refined blend of natural materials, untreated wood, and contemporary design. For groups or exclusive stays, three of our restored barns – Six Blanc, Barbey, and Rogneux – can be fully privatized. Each of them offers a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living areas, and several bedrooms with attached bathroom, making them ideal for family gatherings, celebrations, wellness retreats, or corporate events in an authentic alpine setting. In winter, guests can set off directly from the property for ski touring or snowshoeing adventures. The nearby ski resorts of Vichères–Bavon, La Fouly, and Champex-Lac are all within a 20-minute drive, while the renowned Verbier, 4 Vallées ski area can be reached in around 30 minutes by car. During the summer, Montagne Alternative is the perfect starting point for exploring the region by e-bike or on foot. Numerous hiking trails begin directly from the property, leading along the spectacular ridgelines of the Val d'Entremont and the Val de Bagnes, with breathtaking alpine scenery at every turn. Dogs are welcome for an additional charge of CHF 30 per night.

- Views were breathtaking. Place is small but has everything to enjoy your stay. Located in a small village with friendly neighbours and plenty of fresh mountain water. Breakfast was small but fresh and tasty. Thank you Vincent and the whole team for making our stay unforgettable.
- Very remote, what a view when we woke on January 1st with the snow on the mountain. Staff is very friendly, they typically don’t open to public, only for company events, but it was a very good experience. They have a long experience of tourism throughout the world.
- view, friednly staff, nature, style and buildings
Cons -
- There was nothing not to like. However, be mindful that it’s not suitable for skiers. No washing machine room, dryer room, not even radiators. Sadly no lounge or communal room neither. We had fresh crepes only on the first day. Next two mornings no crepes, unfortunately.
- A little hard to park but kind of normal when you are remote, don’t forget anything in the valley you willNeed to drive back on narrow roads.
- our both beds were not even in the hights

This property is a dream come true. The location is fabulous, the place itself is lovely and clean. The hosts are super friendly and accommodating. At night, you can see the stars from your window <3. we had a fantastic time and hope to come back soon!
Excellent New Years Eve menu. We love the quiet location and came here for the 8th time to spend New Years Eve.
Room had a very cozy atmosphere with a beautiful view of the mountains. Staff was very friendly and professional with very tasty food.
location
you pay quite a lot...300chf per night and more than 70chf for dinner....per person. You get very simple food and they don't clean the room during your stay. Prices are very hight for what you get....
Scenically located retreat amidst the heart of the Alps! The chalets perfectly blend into the scenery and traditional village structure.Natural, untreated timber and the bathroom's stone floor make for a warm and cosy atmosphere. The views from the rooms are unobstructed with a southwest facing balcony granting sunlight in the room throughout the day.Breakfast is delicious featuring many regional products.A pack of chocolate eggs in the room for Easter and the overall decoration with flowers etc. in the breakfast room truly make you feel at home and way beyond any standard chain hotel. In a nutshell: cosy, calm and superb!
A small table in the room next to the power socket and a waste bin (in addition to the one provided in the bathroom) would be a benefit.Sunchairs on the balcony should match room occupancy.
Beyond expectations !This place is a dream. The view is exceptional!!! The hosts are so nice and welcoming. The breakfast is amazing and very rich! We really liked that the village is secluded and quiet, This is exactly what we were looking for.Highly recommended, we will definitely come back
