About
Located in an idyllically calm and natural area in Suvretta, 1.6 mi from the center of St. Moritz, the Hotel Chesa Spuondas offers you a unique historic yet friendly atmosphere. The hotel's rooms have been furnished like private bedrooms rather than hotel rooms. You can find both antique and modern décor. Some rooms have big original bathrooms and most have oiled parquet floors. Please note that all rooms are unique and furnished differently (e.g. the photos of the Junior Suite show two different Junior Suites - one with wooden ceiling (former Duke's bedroom), the other with a blue tiled stove (former Duchess' bedroom). Fine cuisine from ingredients of local origin is served for 3-course dinner and for lunch you can order snacks or salads. Spacious public areas including a library with free internet access invite you to unwind. Moreover, the Chesa Spuondas provides lots of activities for kids and features a play room. Forest, meadows, woods and streams surround the hotel and the lakes of Lej Marsch and Lej Nair are only 10 and 20 minutes' walk away. It is a 5-minute drive to Lake Silvaplana where kite surfing, windsurfing , fishing and sailing are possible. Samedan Golf Course is a 10-minute drive away. You can park your car for free on site. For stays of 2 nights or more, guests can use all busses and mountain railways in the region free of charge during summer and receive a discount on ski passes in winter.

- Very well-run and maintained period hotel; super friendly and helpful manager
Cons -
- Nothing at all.
- The room was really dirty and even after letting the manager know, nothing changed. The food (dinner and breakfast) was not good.
- The bath in the historical room was huge but with a strange smell. No elevator, so get ready to carry heavy suitcase upstairs. The parking lot was sleapery.

The building is beautiful, with it's unique character, and full of surprises. Historical room was very large and with great view. breakfast was very nice. All the staff were very friendly and nice. good value. parking at the hotel.

We were so happy about this choice! Charming, peaceful location with unbelievably beautiful views. Sweetest staff that made us feel like family guests. Wonderful breakfast. And we also stayed in for a delightful dinner.
N/A. Nothing at all that we were unhappy with.
Great views, good location near bus stop and big room
Double twin bed could’ve been better, the bed was separated in the middle and couldn’t join them to sleep together
Beautiful place, lovely people. The house and the rooms have an old-school-cool vibe that works wonderfully, but does not sacrifice on comfort. Make sure to check out the play room if you have children, and of course the outdoors play area. Would love to go back for a longer stay.
This hotel is very historic and has a tranquil setting with easy access to St Moritz by bus, walking, or car. The receptionist was the loveliest person and was very knowledgable about the house and the surrounding area. We enjoyed hiking trails with breathtaking views thanks to her recommendations. The food is really good, with a delicious breakfast buffet and à la carte menu or three-course dinner.
This is a very family friendly accommodation, so not always quiet/ calm if that is what you are looking for.
This is an amazing (!!) villa, with a fantastic historical background. It is a true Swiss-dream mansion with huge natural property/garden and amazing views. The dinner was excellent!! Fantastic food, top service. The staff was best in class ! They provided us a beautiful private hall to eat, with amazing view. They also called us to make sure, that we get the best suit arrangement for our family of. Thank you so much! We will return! And this property supports women and their children in need, as a non-profit hotel, for ca. 100 years. The history of it is also amazing! You get the very best of St. Moritz!!
We loved everything.
Good location. The villa is now converted into a hotel. Good views from the hotel and it felt very cozy. We also appreciate hospitality from all staff and especially Silvia. We checked in late and Silvia had her kitchen make hot meal for us. The food was delicious. The breakfast had decent choices for vegetarians. We enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed here couple days more.
No lift/elevator, so had to carry luggage on stairs. Silvia helped too and overall, it wasn’t bad. We had private separate bathroom. Initially, it felt weird to go across and we were anxious about running into other guests in the hallway, but we didn’t and overall t was good.
Everything about the property is exceptional. The decor, the library, the location.
The in house restaurant food was a bit “meh” in terms of value
Friendly staff and great breakfast. Great play room for kids.
We came in July and it was quite warm in the room (no AC). Windows could only open a little bit. It was hard to sleep. I’m sure it would have been more comfortable in other months. Bathroom was private but we have to go out of our room to access it. A little inconvenient when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Chesa home stay / motel type premises delivering great service and value
Sparse facilities in room
Everything!!!The location, the view, the staffs. They are super kind and mindful.
Nothing, everything was perfect!
This is a beautiful and unique hotel in a former private mansion. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and it had a nice view, though it was not nearly as beautiful as the rooms shown on the site (only mentioned because of expectations guests may have). Staff were helpful, and Andrea at the front desk was particularly pleasant. If you stay 2+ nights you receive a card for local sights. The views from the deck are gorgeous, and the location is very peaceful. We slept very well!
We don’t have any major complaints just suggestions. The hotel is rather far from the train station. We knew this when we made the reservation. There is a comment on Booking.com that the best way to the hotel is by taxi, which would have cost CHF 36 each way. We discovered that the 605 bus runs on a loop from the train station bus stand, right past the hotel, with a 3 minute walk between the bus stop and the hotel. The bus costs CHF 3 each ticket. This information would be useful for travelers to have on the site. Breakfast was good, and included a variety of cold options, but the gluten free bread was quite dry (I made an advance request and do appreciate its availability, but individually wrapped rolls are best). The options were slim for me (gluten and dairy free for medical reasons), but sufficient for most. There were pastries, cereals, fruit, yogurt, and sliced meats. I would have liked to have eggs available, especially since the hotel is so far from town. Overall Hotel Chesa Spuondas is a very nice place to stay
It was a beautiful hotel nestled in the woods. It was homey and the staff was lovely. We were able to add on a lovely evening meal as well.
It was a little out of the way relative to St. Moritz, but we were able to use public transportation and see everything we wanted.
The breakfast was exceptional with healthy options and fresh food.Dinner was excellent with many options and a vegetarian option as well. The children’s playground was an unexpected delight complete with a zip line! The historic fantastic home backed up to a hiking trail with splendid wild flowers and chirping birds.Andrea was especially attentive and engaging especially with our young grandson. She even gave him a couple if farewell gifts to occupy him during our travels!!
Wish we had planned to stay longer. The home, the staff and the surrounding area are definitely worth more than our 1 night stay.
The moment we stepped through the doors we were warmly greeted. The staff were warm, friendly, polite and professional. The hotel is absolutely magnificent, the details have been preserved and accentuated. It was spotlessly clean. The food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious. We have stayed in some great places but this was by far the best of them all. Set away from any noise it was peaceful and the outlook serene and picturesque. It was our last night in Switzerland and it was perfect. I honestly cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
Super friendly staff. Well maintained rooms. Nice view.
