It was a big surprise to find a well maintained beautiful hotel in such a rural area. Wished we could have stayed longer mainly to use the pool and walk around exploring. Laundry facilities available with in the apartment, ideal. Highly recommended.

Top Tips
- Reserve your hotel several months early for Alicante’s peak season (June to September), especially during the Hogueras de San Juan festival in mid-June and Easter Week, to secure lower rates and guarantee rooms. Set rate alerts on hotel sites or apps to catch price drops. Always check the hotel's cancellation policies, particularly around festivals, as many Spanish hotels apply stricter terms for these periods.
- Pick your hotel location based on planned activities: stay near the city center or Explanada de España for nightlife and historic sites, or choose Postiguet Beach or Playa de San Juan for direct beach access. Use map view to confirm walking distances and proximity to tram or bus stops for easy travel. If accessibility is key, confirm step-free access or elevator availability, as many historic buildings have limited options.
- Check that your hotel has effective air conditioning, a must for Alicante’s hot season (May-October). Ask about soundproofing if facing busy streets. Verify reliable Wi-Fi if working remotely, and confirm if secure parking or discounted public garage rates are available, since central parking is limited. Some hotels offer in-room Nespresso machines or kettles, and you can request hypoallergenic bedding to reduce allergy risk.
- Present valid identification at check-in: every guest, including children, must show a passport (for non-EU visitors) or EU national ID for local registration. Standard check-in is at 14:00-15:00. Ask about express check-in if you are a loyalty member and expect to pay a municipal tourist tax, which is usually $1.00-$2.00 USD (approx. €0.90-€1.80; verify at booking) per person per night. For minors, note that most hotels require a parent or guardian to be present, as unaccompanied minors generally cannot check in.
- Be aware that dinner in Alicante typically starts after 20:30, and many shops close for siesta from about 14:00-17:00. Larger chain hotels may serve dinner from 19:00 for international guests. Explore a local churrería for breakfast—hotel staff can recommend one nearby. Tipping is discretionary: leave 5-10% in cash at restaurants for excellent service or a few euros for housekeeping, as card payments often default to no tip.
- Plan your airport transfer: the regular airport bus or shuttle connects Alicante Airport (ALC) to the city center in 20-30 minutes. Many hotels can arrange private airport transfers by request for approximately €30-40 (about $33-$44), which may suit early arrivals or families. Buses and trams are generally accessible, but confirm elevator availability at stations if you have specific mobility needs.
- Learning a few basic Spanish phrases such as 'Hola' (hello), 'Gracias' (thank you), and '¿Habla inglés?' (Do you speak English?) can improve everyday interactions—even though most hotel staff speak English. Some hotels provide phrase cards or partner with providers for basic classes; ask at reception. Staff can help arrange interpreter support for guests with limited Spanish.
- Ask hotel reception for local restaurant recommendations, especially for specialties like arroz a banda. Reception can also assist with reservations at popular venues during busy seasons, allergy-friendly meal requests, and arranging official tours to Santa Bárbara Castle, the MARQ Archaeological Museum, or Tabarca Island. You may also request a quiet room or higher floor at booking or check-in.
- Choose accommodations based on your travel needs: families should look for hotels with kids’ clubs, child-friendly pools, or direct access to calm beaches such as Playa de San Juan. Many properties offer babysitting or kids’ activity packs. Business travelers can prioritize central hotels with strong Wi-Fi, meeting rooms, digital check-in, and quick access to the port or train station. Accessible rooms with roll-in showers and grab bars are widely available—verify in advance.
- Discover Alicante by trying dishes like arroz a banda or by visiting local cafés for breakfast. Many central hotels have rooftop terraces with castle or sea views—book ahead for sunset during high season. Some rooftops offer set menus or tasting events paired with local wines; check menu details in advance as traditional cuisine often contains shellfish or nuts.
- While Alicante is generally safe, use standard caution against pickpockets in crowds, during festivals, or at the beach—never leave valuables unattended. Most hotels offer in-room safes and can secure valuables at the front desk. For sun safety, carry water, use high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat, and check if your hotel provides complimentary sunscreen or high-SPF pool towels, especially for children and sensitive skin.
