    • The food, especially dinner, is outstanding. The staff.
    • The food was excellent. The property was close to the ocean.
    • Great location and the property is like being in the wild (well you are) Elephants, crocs and peacocks all spotted during our stay. Oh and we're dog people so loved there were a few dogs and the cutest puppy at the pool. Staff were lovely and helpful.

    Cons -

    • If you don’t book half board in advance, the prices at the hotel are very high and there is no other option nearby. You can’t walk outside the premises to the jungle/ beach.
    • The property is so far from the city. The roads leading up to the property is terrible and needing major improvements. Do not travel to the property at night as there are wild animals and elephants on the road. The room wifi was not working and had to call the desk twice to fix it. Be aware of mosquitoes. Cannot walk anywhere in the property after 630 pm as there might be animals and snakes. Need an escort after 630 pm. Rooms are just standard for the price. Rooms need to be dusted as there was a gecko and dust behind the bed. Safari from the property is overpriced.
    • We thought the restaurant was very pricey for Sri Lanka and considering the price from for room/property was very reasonable, that came as a shock to us. Room was no the smaller end but wasn't a problem for us.

Breakfast was incredible, as was eve meal. Friendly staff and service was great. Lovely (small) pool. Rooms are chalets dotted around the resort, really lovely and comfortable. We saw wild elephant in the resort, amazing experience.

    Would have liked a gym/spa.

Food, location is premium, service is excellent, love access to the wild animals.

It is pricey, can be provide more for the price paid.

This hotel is a reasonably unique experience. It is a hotel in the middle of a wildlife park with a lake nearby with crocodiles & buffaloes and where monkeys come visit the swimming pool and elephants sometimes roam in the hotel. Still it feels very safe. The animals are used to human presence and they usually keep their distance, although some more curious -- like monkeys -- do come all over. After dark staff will escort you to and from your room, just in case. We were told leopards also visit the park some times, but we didn't saw any of the big cats. We did see an elephant roaming the paths that take to the bedrooms! The swimming pool is nice and large, the food is delicious. They offer a wide range of food, both "standard" international food, but also lovely local cuisine. There is enough for all ages and tastes. The staff is incredibly kind and attentions. And, for a place in the middle of the wild, it is all impeccably clean. You can take safaris to the park from the hotel or just enjoy and relax. We had a great time and loved the place.

Nothing, really. The light in the room was a bit dark, but I imagine it is deliberate of the location.

Great location, attentive staff, fantastic food. It was wonderful to see so many crocodiles in the lake next to the pool. We were also visited by monkeys which was great to watch from the lodges.

It was very difficult to meet with the travel agents to organise safaris or the walking tour (they were out on either a morning or afternoon safari each time we tried to speak to them - during dinner seemed to be the best time). However we were able to organise a safari through our taxi driver so this was not an issue. It would have been nice to have had some form of entertainment (especially for the kids) when not on safari, such as a pool table, table tennis, gym, spa etc as there is little to do here other than go on safari or relax by the pool.

location inside the safari park is amazinganimals on the propertybuffet was decent

overall excellent stay if i have to pick things to complain about: the meal provided with the safari organized by the hotel itself wasn't that great. the room is on the smaller side, if you're looking for big rooms, this is not for you.

A fantastic eco-luxury experience at the edge of Yala National Park. The chalets were spacious and well-appointed, offering comfort amidst stunning natural surroundings. Service was outstanding—friendly, professional, and always attentive. Dining was excellent, and wildlife sightings around the property made the stay even more special. Highly recommended for nature lovers seeking a relaxing and adventurous getaway.

We loved our one night stay at Cinammon Wild and wished we could have stayed longer but it was out of our price range and aside from its perfect location to the National Park, is too far away from everything else. Two or three nights would have been great though. From the moment we arrived staff were very friendly and attentive. Our room was great, overlooking the sea, although we couldn’t really see much of the sea through the trees. Location was great with lots of monkeys and wildlife around and it’s literally on the doorstep of Yala National Park so you don’t have to wake up as early for your morning safari! The pool was great, as was the rooftop bar and the buffet at dinner was of a good standard. Our favourite part by far was that there are some steps down from the pool where you can look out over the lake and there are approx 35 wild crocodiles in there. They come really close to the bank, within metres, and we loved watching them. We got closer to the crocodiles at this hotel than we did during our safari! We heard that elephants and other animals sometimes walked through, but sadly we didn’t see this during our time there. We would thoroughly recommend a couple of nights here if you can afford it and if you are doing a Yala safari.

Our shower wasn’t the best. It didn’t get hot, and was barely luke warm at times. It is very hot and humid in Sri Lanka though, so I imagine a lot of people wouldn’t mind that and it wasn’t a massive issue for us because it wasn’t unbearably cold. It was also a glass-encased shower and the glass had a lot of black grubby marks in it, although it was clean, it just didn’t look that good. We had dinner and breakfast included which is good because the price of food and in particular alcohol is really very extortionate and not good value for money. You also can’t really go anywhere else without a driver and a longish drive. We were disappointed with the cost of food and alcohol as it impacts your enjoyment of the stay. The hotel was quite strict, which is necessary because cobras and other dangerous wildlife could be walking around, however this wouldn’t suit somebody who needed more autonomy. In the evening you have to be escorted to and from your room and although we were on the beach (which you are allowed to go on) we were escorted off by a guard and told we had entered the wrong way. There was a path through the trees directly on to the beach right by our room with no signs to say we couldn’t use it, so we just strolled on to the beach only to be told there is a designated path which must be used. We understood the need for strictness but some more clarity or signage around what we could and couldn’t do would have been helpful as we did feel a bit like naughty children at times. We also booked our safari through our driver instead because the hotel charge a lot! Safaris can be done much cheaper. Don’t let these negatives put you off though, the hotel is great and you can plan around them by booking your safaris seperately, taking snacks and drinks etc.

the room was beautiful and staff were great, we did a safari with them which was excellent!

there wasn't refillable water that was easy to access in the room or reception, we ordered off the a la carte menu in the restaurant downstairs for dinner and it was a bit disappointing/expensive for what you got but the breakfast buffet was amazing

    10SamPosted on: 4-21-2025

The property was very clean and the staff were very nice. We were lucky enough to see so much wildlife including elephants and crocodiles with the elephant even coming right up to the pool area. We were half board so on our first night we had the buffet dinner which was very nice and plenty of choice. In the morning we were able to pick up our packed breakfast that we requested at 5am ready for our morning safari. We stayed in one of the beach chalets which is on stilts and we had everything we needed in the room. After 6pm the hotel request you call for a staff member to escort you around the property for your own safety due to wildlife, this is very quick so no waiting around

Facilities, the food, location and very friendly and extremely helpful staff and the management. And I would like to give very special thanks for Executive sous chef Mr Nandana Perera and Restaurant staff as well

Everything was above our expectations ?

    9NareshPosted on: 4-19-2025

The staff were very friendly and kind. The food was excellent, and the location was great. If you spend a few days here, you’ll be able to see a variety of wild animals similar to what you'd encounter on a Yala safari. Although the hotel is located in a wild, natural setting, the management ensures that it is safe for guests to stay and move around freely.

One suggestion for improvement would be the swimming pool—it needs some structural maintenance, as some of the tiles are damaged and could potentially cause injury.

    8JohnPosted on: 4-19-2025

Good location for the safari. Comfortable attractive dining and pool areas. Rooms comfortable with everything needed.

    10JessicaPosted on: 4-19-2025

An amazing hotel in the middle of Yala national park. The room was beautiful and very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Booked two safaris and a walking tour through the hotel which were excellent. As well as one evening an elephant venturing into the hotel grounds!

Needed more staff in the bar at happy hour as caused very slow service.
