Grand Hotel Excelsior

The Grand Excelsior is a mid century style resort hotel with modern amenities. Although somewhat dated in appearance the place was spotless and very well-maintained. For the money it’s a tremendous value.

The dinner was very expensive and the menu only had 4 items. The food wasn’t too good either and the buffet wasn’t what I expected to find in a 4-star hotel

A good value classic style hotel. Big room with good amenities. Really good rooftop pool.

It’s a grand hotel, that has suffered from a lack of investment, given its high standing the room was so cheap.

The room hasn’t been updated since the 70s or 80s, so the bath room with pink sanitary ware was just about functional, bath with shower but no shower screen .

Beautiful view from the roof top swimming pool terace. The hotel was clean and well maintained.

Breafkast was very poor with limited selection of food. Overall this part of city is like a ghost town - many empty or closed hotels and restaurants. This does not help good experience with the hotel.

The reception and living area was grand

Sadly the rooms and service was discussed. I believe the value for money was poor. Hard bed (double was 2 singles pushed together), NO DUET! I’ve asked reception for one as the aircon was left on so the room was very cold and in the evening the temperature really dropped. They looked at my like I was asking for the word and said is not possible. I got a blanket that was itchy and hard bed that felt like I was sleeping on the floor. Breakfast was poor with cheap few selections, I’ve had some cereals and asked for them to be microwaved as they did mot have hot milk and cold really hurts my teeth. The woman gave me a dirty look and started talking to her friend about me. Disgusting service! Truly would like to forget this stay.

Spacious room, good breakfast buffet, clean, large lobby, good restaurant, possibity to rent bikes, coffee bar inside, close to tourist office.

The style and the atmosphere in the hotel; friendly and helpful staff. Decent restaurant.

Too much plastic in use - for example, the use of plastic for drinks (water, juice..) for breakfast was excessive in my view.

The junior suite was great (large room with large balcony and two en-suite bathrooms. The pool is on the top floor ensuring a nice breeze on hot summer days. Breakfast was really tasty with lots of choice. It is ideally located (close to thermal baths and 2 mns from the tourism office office)

Internet connection was very poor

Well positioned in the center of city, good breakfast and very kind personnel.

Maybe needs a little renovation, hotel was clean, but the furniture was quite dated

The accommodation was not by far tidy enough and the toilet would flush only with difficulties due to old and poorly maintananced facilities. Even after being told, the staff did nothing to adress these issues. A wannabe grandhotel.

The hotel is clean and well localted in a beautiful area in Tuscany. The parking lot is good, enough to have vacant spots for all guests

The hotel is really really old. The tube, in the bathroom is bad. If you try to use as shower, you will get the full bathroom wet! The staff are not very polite and helpful

Very comfortable hotel with sparkling clean swimming pool. Very kind staff. Great value for money.
