Pros +
- Joanna Hotel is great. It is easy to walk to from nearby parking options, although those options can get pricey. The room was excellent, it had everything one needed. The shower leaked, which has been addressed in other reviews, but I did my best to take quick showers and clean up the leaked water to the best of my ability. The town is beautiful, truly a smaller version of Mykonos. There are restaurants everywhere, and they are great. The castle has outstanding sunset views. The main beach was lovely. Overall I had a great experience!
- Great location! Clean! Good noise level
- The place is quite easy to find and is extremely well located. There isn't a receptionist and we had luck because the waiter guy of the restaurant identified us as guests. So he just asked,"hey... Are you looking for your hotel?", after that everything went smooth. The rooms is good, great bed and view is amazing... Shower is also real good and don't have any complaint about it. The balcony is a plus and you can easily had a drink at the night there.
Cons -
- The leaky shower was the only issue. Otherwise the room was perfect.
- It's a bit complicated to park in the whole city. So be aware to know where to park in advance. And, it's not allowed to park in the city center, not even drive there. To be honest, this is a good idea. The street is a bit loud and if you want to sleep soon, forget about it. The bath is too small and the toilet is separated, which it's a bit strange. So there isn't any privacy for one person if you are in a couple. Besides, that, it's amazing
- Parking.. but the whole town was difficult to park because we arrived at the biggest party weekends they have. So, it's to be expected.

Honestly, the people who run this hotel are absolute gold. I met the owner too, and it's a family business who really treat you well. The rooms and café was perfect. Anytime I come back to this area, we will look for availability here first. What a beautiful experience.

The breakfast was excellent and we sat by the wall overlooking the sea in the sunshine, there was fresh fruit, juice, Spanish omelette, meats and home made marmalade
Breakfast was not only a work of art but was excellent, particularly being able to enjoy it while looking out right over the sea. Joanna Hotel is a small, family run business and our hosts Jose and Belinda are a truly delightful couple who speak excellent English. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. The hotel room was small but beautifully decorated and fitted with a rather unique shower with a magnificent view! Highly recommend this place - it honestly could not have been better.
Breakfast has been outstanding, great hospitality, very friendly staff - small nice hotel in the center of the oldtown10/10 :)
We stayed in the most beautiful room with the endless views of the sea. It was so quiet and peaceful you felt totally renewed after just one night. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and I like recommend you don’t skip their breakfast a beautiful platter of treats.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. Location excellent, and the rooms a uniquely decorated and had a wonderful view. Breakfast on the deck, overlooking the ocean was sensational also.
Beautiful location, cute room RIGHT at the prettiest viewpoints
We did not mind this at all but the parking is a small little walk away. If you have huge bags or cannot walk well keep this in mind!
The view and the location. The bed was very comfortable and we slept reasonably well. But we couldn’t really sleep in due to noise within and outside of the hotel.
We had a sea view room but it was on the first floor above the restaurants so it was very noisy. Also, the walls are paper thin, you could hear other guests moving around upstairs and people in the hallway. We didn’t like the bathroom set up either, with the toilet only being separated by a sliding door and the shower in the bedroom. There wasn’t much privacy! We were a couple and the shower situation was ok but I still think it’s important to have some privacy when going to the toilet.
Nice little hotel on a premium location (wonderful sea view), well renovated and decorated with great focus on quality and detail, welcoming and helpful staff.
BUT the room is tiny and the only window has to be opened during the night (to be able to breathe), but then we heared every car, motorcycle and pedestrian passing by on the street below. All night long. Being on a higher floors could help, but the first floor was terrible noisy
Location was stunning with an excellent sea view. The hotel situated in the old town made an evening and morning stroll around the area a unique and interesting experience. Our room with its sea view was unique and quirky in its decoration which fitted very well with the whole experience. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We had a great night’s sleep with the addition of overnight winds and seas to listen to. The history of the area was evident everywhere and the information boards added to the little we already knew. Care had to be taken on some of the original streets but there were carefully placed hand rails to help. A magical trip and a step back in time.
We had such a lovely time I can’t think of anything.
we did not have the breasfast view ,nice family , evening meal really good
no milk in are room
The views , Interior, friendliness, the total package
A fantastically situated and beautifully decorated building with stylish design and great smell. Many small but cool details that add to a positive experience. Our room was on the first floor with a balcony towards the sea, offering the most beautiful panoramic view. The rooms are clean and have a unique interior design. And above all, the owner is super friendly and helpful. I wish them all the luck and would definitely like to return.
Super cosy little hotel with the best location, however somewhat noisy due to the good location and the not very isolating windows. Super friendly staff and good located restaurant just overlooking the ocean. The photo shows the nice view from our little balcony.
The noice level during parts of our night. To try to drive our car the very narrow road up to the hotel, but I was not supposed to take that road,…just do not try to drive there.
Very romantic location and room. Perfect for a weekend stay in Peñíscola. Very good communication from the hotel regarding the situation relating to parking in the area.
Bed was more firm than we like. Sink was cute but very slow to drain.
Exceptional
Not their fault, but i would like to know beforehand, that parking in Peniscola is almost impossible! One good idea would be to provide their guests, some pings in google maps, with all the known locations, that you can park, either for free, or with parkmeter.
The location was very good, we had a see view from the balcony. The decoration of the room was beautiful and carefully curated. The restaurant of the hotel was fantastic.
